I've had a previous install by them but after removing the door speakers myself later on, I found that they were just taped inside the door. I liked the overall job so I returned for a new installation (their radio, my amp and my subs). They couldn't do the job because I didn't have the output wire for my amp. However, their solution was that I pay for the rest of the installation, track down the wire, then come back later so that they could finish. If it hadn't been for this, I would've paid the $1500 for the install. Instead, I went to Bonnie and Clyde's and got the same equipment installed plus new rear speakers for $300 cheaper. Go if you want but shop around first. read more

Have had many cars done by them. But I have learned the hard way they don't have the skills or experience to know what they are doing if it goes beyond a simple/basic install. They really messed my car up and after getting 5 cars done by them in the past 5 years I won't be back. They get stuck and don't know how to fix what they did so they simply ignore the problem and don't follow up at all. read more

I took my truck to Cartoys to get a VIPER alarm system installed. VIPER'S website shows Cartoys of Denton is an authorized retailer for VIPER systems. First off, Cartoys in Denton doesn't even carry an VIPER systems. When I reached out to Cartoys, they said they could install my system which I have text proof to show that they said they could install my system. When I took it to them, they were only able to get the remote start feature working with the physical remote. The remote start is only a fraction of the features with the kit THEY said they could install and get it working like it's intended to. I took it back to them for them to try and fix it, They couldn't fix it. I was very disappointed after spending $250+ for an install when they couldn't even get it done right. I ended up taking my truck to another Viper Retailer and they had it fixed and working within an hour. The tech that fixed my system said whoever initially installed my system at Cartoys had wrapped wires together that shouldn't have been wrapped together and they were the wrong side and therefore the wires got hot and shorted out causing my door locks not to work. The tech that fixed my system also said whoever initially installed my system at Cartoys, didn't run direct power to the smartstart module and instead they tapped it into the wrong power source. Cartoys cut corners and didn't take pride in their work and that caused me to waste my money and time which I'm very frustrated about. I would not give your business to Cartoys especially if it is regarding wiring since they can't seem to install a simple remote start system that shouldn't be difficult for the right person. Truthfully, I wouldn't give Cartoys your business period. If they are careless with wiring, I wouldn't be surprised if they are slacking on detailing, tinting, or anything else they offer for the public. Take your business elsewhere! read more

I would just do a little research and order your items online. I set an appointment with Steven's to have my truck looked at, and went from a 429 stereo with free installation to 1250. I get you're trying to make a living, but the terrible attitude every opportunity I give this location is truly unbelievable. What really upset me is that I just wanted to buy the stereo and he gave me every excuse for how he couldn't help. Instead of selling me the stereo for the online listed price he literally tried selling it to me for 860... I went online and ordered it straight to my house for 456 after taxes. I never write reviews unless the product/service is truly amazing or the exact opposite. I work 60+ hours a week and I hope this review helps someone else to save their time and do their shopping online or another store. It hurt that I've bought many stereos, Kits, subs, adapters, etc from this company, that I would of paid the 1k+ to get it all done today. However the level of service is pathetic and hope the owner of this location sees this. read more

I could not even keep up with how many extra charges these guys added to my bill. During the install they found multiple things to add - extra wiring harnesses and connections- the extras were more than the original item i stopped by to get. Then the guy assigned to work on my vehicle pulled his personal vehicle in and started working on it. Ask up front if you go here what to expect to be included in addition to the item! A simple radio installation was scheduled at 2:00 - did not finish before closing at 7:00. I am very disappointed- i expected so much better experience. read more

I'm not necessarily saying anything bad. But I came in to get an android auto unit and back up camera installed on my daily driver 2014 Jetta, a car I literally use to pack on the miles and drive daily for work. The Alpine unit was 199, and the back up camera was 175. But for some reason with all the fees, harness I needed, and installation I ended up being quoted $1327. I literally pretty much laughed my way out. My car is 7+ years old, Im not about to pay that much to get those added. Im going somewhere else. The people there were super nice though. Was just shocked how quickly that price jumped. read more

I went in looking at having a radio installed in my 2011 Ranger. They gave me an estimate of $815 total and left with a deposit of $400. Made the appointment for Monday to install, Looked at the worksheet over the weekend and saw they were charging me $30 "shop fee". No way! Went in on Monday and wanted to just by the radio. So much time and money. First trip - picked out a new car radio and paid for the dash kit, should take 5-7 days to come in. Cool. Called 9 days later to see if it had come in, it had. Schedule appt for Friday to come in at 1 and install. Second trip - drop off for install and 6 hours later still isn't done. Leave with radio installed, a cord hanging out of my glove box, and the steering wheel buttons not working. They take $60 bucks off (basically didn't charge for the cord they needed to make the steering wheel work). Third trip - get in, fix glove box cord and steering wheel in an hour. By 4pm later that day two flat tires. I'm not saying the flat tires were definitely their fault but we didn't go anywhere else... so ‍ About $800 there and now waiting at discount tire for at least two new tires.. Never. I have never upgraded a car stereo before. I took my truck here and believed I found the set up I liked. Due to some misunderstanding, it wasn't. When I brought it the attention of the manager, Dillion, I was expecting a long nasty battle to correct the problem to get what I was looking for. Surprisingly enough, nope. He and his install manager, Jared, went out of their way and installed what I was looking for after some research and investigating. I'd send anyone to these guys for any work. read more

Once again, stellar service. Went in to have an "ancient" alarm system (circa '94) removed from my truck. The dealer talked me into putting this on when I bought it new. Needless to say, ancient technology failed and it was draning the battery. Stopped by the store, talked to Bruce, asked if I could do an appointment, he told me that the store didn't do appointments, but if I came in first thing when they opened, I'd get right in. Came back 'first a.m.' and the staff got me right in. Ryan removed the unit in less time that they quoted, they charged a very fair price. The biggest thing is they did not try to upsell or get me to buy something else. I have purchased car stereos for 4 different vehicles from this store and always have had, (1) friendly and knowledgeable sales people (2) no pressure to either purchase or purchase something I didn't want or need (3) fantastic and professional installation. The vehicle is always put back together correctly, no loose parts or trim, etc. (4) Good prices -- watch the sales, the staff even tells you if there is one coming up to get the best price.
