I've been using Car Registration Inc for 4 years now. Yes, they do charge a service fee, which is clearly disclosed in their online calculator. However, they deliver you an email copy of your car registration *the same day* you enter your order. They also send the physical card by trackable courier and not just by mail, which means that it arrives. Like anything else, you are paying for a convenience. With a small business fleet of vehicles, my time is worth a small convenience charge. If lowest cost is your objective, go directly to the DMV. If you want high quality service, give this company a shot. read more

Why isnt there a 0 star? This company is total rip off. I think it is a crime that the state of california allows it to continue, even promotes it online. Go directly to california dmv and stay away from these scammers read more

This is by far the most horrendous service I have ever received in my entire life including emergency rooms, police stations, post office, and every delivery service ever- so this is saying a lot. I have now been waiting since December 1st for literally anything to happen as far as my car registration goes. In fact, it has take so long that in the process my registration was even suspended (even though I'd already paid it through these geniuses) and had to pay to have it reinstated. That was now... two weeks ago and still they have not moved forward with doing absolutely anything. I paid $1700+ including a hefty service fee and I can't get the guys to do anything. Just please go to the dmv and avoid this service entirely. I'm going to end up in jail waiting for my registration to come thru this company. read more

Late night one day I have searched on Google for California vehicle registration renewal an this site popped up on top instead of DMV web site. Clicked it and submitted a registration renewal, once I get a receipt I realized that I over paid them: $49.99 Service Fee, $10.64 Convenience Fee, $4.99 Shipping and $5.00 for Email Copy. Called them first thing next morning and tried to cancel the order, but they denied my request saying that they already sent money to DMV. I have passed a smog test, which was submitted to DMV directly. A month later my registration status with DMV was "registration is being returned for additional action(s)." Once I reached out to caregistrtation.com and asked them to correct the situation, there answer was: "we are a licensed and bonded registration service authorized by the California DMV, we are not the physical DMV and do not have access to certain DMV-exclusive processes or systems. For assistance with this matter, you'll need to contact the California DMV directly" Thank you very much, may I please know what did you charge me $70.62 for? These guys are worthless to say the least. read more

I lost my title for my truck that's registered in Cali while I live in Florida. Between deployment and hassle with the CA dmv, I opted into using this company. They handled all my paperwork and made sure it was properly processed so I could get my duplicate title. They went above and beyond to ensure I received everything I payed for and felt like a top priority to them. Thank you to Anna and Melissa for helping me out! read more

Roni M said everything I needed to say. Random BS fees tacked on and it takes the same amount of time to go to the DMV website to renew your registration. Although the only good thing about this place is if you call they will refund your money without asking questions if you call quick enough. Gave them 1 star instead of none just because they refunded me. read more

Their entire business model appears to be to make a website that looks close enough to official (they even use the same color logo as the DMV), show up as a sponsored result on Google, and trick people (especially procrastinators with crippling adhd like me) into paying extra fees for a slower result than the DMV website. I guess technically I can't call them a scam because I checked my registration status on the actual DMV website and it was accepted. It's baffling that this is legal, I guarantee you no other country would allow something like this. I'm curious if websites like this are common and if so, I hope John Oliver does a segment on them one day and inspires some lawmaker somewhere to outlaw them. But if you're here because you already gave them your money and are worried you're not going to get your registration... You just got partially robbed, but you'll probably still get your sticker. read more

BEWARE THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL DMV REGISTRATION SITE. My reg was $150 on the official DMV site. I accidentally went to this site when I googled CA car registration renewal. There was an additional $56 dollars added on for service/convenience fees. Completely unnecessary and borderline scam. They out here fleecing people. read more

I'm just so glad I caught the red flag on their many unsolicited emails that this was not affiliated with the DMV. Helped I had already registered directly online with the DMV with no problems and also their fishy notice that the current inflated fee they offered to update my registration was "a limited time offer." They retort on all their Better Bureau Business complaints that they do not claim to be the DMV though clearly they intentionally confuse people to use their site at a premium instead of going directly to the DMV website. read more

Do not go to this site. Go renew your registration to the state directly. I calculated my own price there and I get to pay $30 less. I don't know how they got my info (I can pretty much guess though: cookies and whatnot). The only pro would be faster service but for someone who is counting all their pennies, just apply directly to the state. They contact repeatedly as well and their messaging put some urgency in me which is why I didn't remember to apply directly so that's on me. read more

Using SEO scam and poach those just trying to renew their car registrations. Tried to get a refund immediately after my mistake of payment and they did not cooperate at all. Terrible company, terrible customer service. Everyone be wary and never forget, there are always people trying to reach into your pockets to scam at every corner. They are a fine example. read more

I'm just a little pissed... I blame myself and google ads... I didn't know this site was not the dmv but some type of unnecessary registration service... I was wondering my my registration was so overpriced... Don't use this service it's unnecessary and a waste of cash. Adding there domain to my blocked site list.. read more

I get many emails and pay my bills immediately. I didn't realize I was not paying the DMV to renew registration for my car. There is no reason for this non-service to exist. It takes just as long to charge my credit card on the DMV site as it does on carregistration.com. They charged about $40 more than the DMV. read more

At first I thought that this site was a scam, after receiving what I thought were automated emails after paying for registration fees, stating that they needed additional docs to complete my car registration. I had contacted the BBB and informed them of what I thought was a scam. I then contacted the CA DMV to confirm that my registration had been paid and was current, the DMV confirmed that it was. I then received a call from a representative from CarRegistration.com confirming what the CA DMV confirmed, that registration in fact had been paid and tags were on the way. The representative was very understanding of my anxiety of being scammed and also informed me that I was most likely kicked over to their site due DMV records showing my registration being expired, therefore leading me to CarRegstration.com. in short do not be alarmed if you are kicked over to this site, it is not a scam it is totally legit! read more

I'm not sure how they got approval to operate this site. There is no value added in going through this service as opposed to the DMV. You submit documents via email...in 2023?! Somebody should figure out who at the state approved this and then investigate and audit them. read more

Scam website. Not sure how they got my information, but I got an email from them after going on the dmv website to check my car registration so I could pay it. Ended up getting an email from these people a day later so I thought it was legit. Looks like these guys are a scam. read more

Excellent service. Ordered my registration on Friday and got it in the mail on Tuesday the following week. Yes, you pay additional charges BUT you don't have to go to the dreaded DMV and wait in hour long lines. I'd pay an extra $30 any day to avoid that bs. Great experience and I'll be back again. Confused by all the one star reviews. People just love to complain about everything. This was a life saver. Highly recommend read more

Fast, friendly knowledgeable! Never had a problem with them. Great people! They do a great job!

Charges you fees that are otherwise free on the official dmv website. Tried to call to cancel my order but kept getting line busy.

the DMV website takes you to this site to renew online; total scam. I used AAA office and got my tag same day for only the price of car registration. I cannot believe someone gave a contract to these guys; they say you are paying for the convenience of online renewal; DMV has offered that for years for free. These fees raised renewal price by 40%. Positive reviews have to be fake. Save your money. read more

Complete scam. Avoid. You will get your tags and all but you pay for a free service. Completely dumb.

This business charges exorbitant prices for something that is available for free on the California DMV site for free. Do not use them. Their only added value is "expedited shipping", for which you will pay more than $50 in fees. Unless your tags expire tomorrow, there is no reason anyone would agree to that up front. Their business model is to appear at the top of paid search results, and hope that you don't notice that they are not the official DMV site until after you've paid. I've given them two stars instead of just one, because they were prompt in refunding my money, but their entire business model is built around tricking people into paying crazy fees for something they don't need. read more

My experience with carregistration.com was seamless and efficient. They do charge a fee which I believe is for the convenience of it all. I was able to renew my registration and my tags were sent to me overnight along with my DMV proof of registration slip. This definitely bests waiting in long lines at the DMV especially now during covid times. I recommend this service. read more

It's not DMV. Google Ads directed me to this site and I didn't realize there could be this kind of fraud. It charged totally $38.62 with more input time than DMV site. When I tried to registered the 2nd car, I want to understand what this service fee is and then I realized this is not DMV. They don't provide any valuable service at all. They sent me one email confirmation which DMV site doesn't provide. But I just took a photo of the confirmation screen of the DMV site, that's good enough for me. read more

Third time I've used this business. The whole purpose is to make DMV transactions easy - I do not want to waste my day waiting to be called up to a disgruntled DMV employee. For a reasonable, fully disclosed fee, transactions are taken care of quickly and professionally. I've taken care of late registration, title transfer, and most recently, plate replacement. This last transaction, plate replacement, started on the phone on my way home. I picked up my plates 15 minutes later! Yes, they are not THE official DMV, they are a business taking the pain out of DMV transactions. This is made very clear. The fees are reasonable and full disclosed and they will answer all of your questions in a respectful and patient way. Until the DMV gets an efficient system (ha!) I will continue to use CarRegistration, Inc. read more

Didn't realize this wasn't the dmv site until too late $70 in service fees I could get my registration from dmv site only now. Wtf. Hopefully I receive them I just had to get my smog paper and email it when the dmv gets it automatically-__- hella mad read more

Scam, this is nearly impersonation of the DMV. This is a middle man service that reaches out to you with your vehicle information so they can hand your payment to the DMV for a fee. read more

Absolute scam. They say it makes the registration renewal process easy and yet I had to enter more information on this website then on the actual DMV website. I also overpaid love $60 for my registration. read more

This company is a scam! They will charge you $50 to do a service that is free on the dmv website. They are trying to come off as the DMV but they are a 3rd party. read more

Horrible customer service when I called in to have one of my payments canceled all I got was attitude like she didn't have time to deal with her customer. she was also condescending as if I am to know specific DMV terminology. This is not the DMV so you might as well go into a Kiosk at the dmv its faster and they don't charge extra fee. I could have waited a whole mont and with all the lates fees from dmv and still paid less than what they charged. Ultimately if some pays for your service , they pay for good customer service not people that make you feel like you are tolerated. Take you business elsewhere. read more

My registration was past due by over a year (miscommunication about who was paying it lol) ANYWAY the DMV wanted me to go in since its been so long, but im busy, so i did it online thru this company. To be fair, i thought i was on the actual dmv website, but i wasnt, i dont think its right to trick consumers this way. It worked for me cuz i didnt need to go in so i was okay paying an extra 40 bux or whatever plus the shipping cost of 15. But i knocked off a star for the shady business practice of deceit. (The website is dmv.org, ACTUAL DMV website is ca.gov/dmv) read more

BEWARE of this type of loop-hole business. I paid extra $38.62 for absolutely nothing but by mistake. I received an email from DMV 30 days before my expiration date and got online to take care of it. I searched "DMV registration" and this website happens to be on top of the screen because it's an "AD". My computer usually blocks these "AD" websites, so i don't need to worry about getting in trouble. so i clicked and paid. I got home then found my bill in the mailbox for $192, but i just paid $230.62. I was so upset and look into what can be done to get my money back. There is no way. Apparently there is a loop hole that DMV must PROVIDE this type of information to insurance companies, and these type of businesses can get on hold of personal information through the same channel. When you get online and think that no one can have your VIN#, license plate, your zip code, etc. YOU ARE WRONG! read more

What a scam. I've never heard of this company, received an email from them staying my car registration was due, I replied "REMOVE ME" and I immediately received an email confirmation that they charged my card for registration and all of their added fees. I called and explained what happened and where the heck did they get my CC information. The rep couldn't answer ONE of my questions (like where did you get my CC #) she said "You would had to have input it into our site" (which I absolutely did NOT) She was so vague told me to hold so they can cancel the transaction. I did receive an email stating they cancelled it, however, received a follow up email of my receipt for funds paid. I called my bank and they are in fact holding the funds. I will check back tomorrow to make sure it dropped off, however, if it doesn't I will file a fraud report with the DMV, BBB and any other consumer protection group I can find. SHAME on this company during these strange, difficult times they are going to straight up scam people. They are located in Elk Grove and if charges are not reversed I will also visit them to resolve. HORRIBLE business "model" Total BS service. read more

This site is a total scam. Fortunately I did not officially approve their terms for registering my vehicle with them after discovering that they're charging for a service that is free through the ca.dmv.gov website. Their website should be banned. Shame on Bing and Google for bringing up their website as the the first entry in my search for the dmv site. read more

Be VERY CAREFUL when choosing this link, there is a $39.95 fee added. Go directly to cyberdriveillinois.com and get the exact same service without the fee. read more

COMPLETE SCAM. They pose as the DMV. They are not. They use the online DMV calculator, take your credit card payment, plus $40 extra and you still have to mail your documents to the real DMV and hope it works out. They don't do anything you can't already do on DMV's legit site so read the computer site address line to make sure you are really in the California DMV's web site. Once I realized it was a scam, I attempted to use the real DMV site but the electronic documents this scam company submitted caused a "application in progress" rejection of me doing it directly. The LA Times has an article on this company for the DMV scam. read more

Paid extra for expedited services and they took no fault when we still hadn't received the title we ordered, 4 months and waiting!

Hopelessly incompetent. They sent my docs to another person and theirs to me. Then redid the item but got the financial details wrong. Stay away from this business. read more

My registration was due and of course I put it off until the last day. I put in the website that was on the notice but somehow the website for this place popped up instead. It looks Just like the DMV's website. I thought it was really weird that I was being charged an extra $40 but since I waited until last minute I just paid it, thinking I was on the DMV's website. After it was paid I looked up what "service fee" meant when dealing with the DMV and I was surprised to find out I wasn't even on the DMV's website at all!! This 3rd party website posed as the official DMV website and SCAMMED me out of $40!!! It would take more time and effort to cancel the charge with my bank, come out of pocket again, and then wait for my refund then I feel it's worth. Long story short, DMV doesn't charge to pay registration online so DON'T GET SCAMMED like I did!!! read more

never recommend to any one paid for next day service today is 10 days still did not get my registration. bad service.
