Most people would have just replaced the hose and sent me on my way but Jim was determined to find out why this would happen as it is not a common occurrence. He seemed to take it very personally and of time until he finally got to the cause which was a stuck thermostat that he said he had never seen all the years he's worked on . It took a while for him to but he went the extra mile to find the cars and fix it and only charge me for the parts. Details: He flushed the radiator, but the coolant reservoir was completely empty the next day. He overfilled the engine oil. He didn't check the PCV valve. I swapped it the next day, and the valve was completely clogged. This $20 easily replaceable part can cause a lot of trouble to your engine and should have been checked during the service. Jim didn't mention it and didn't check it. He didn't flush brake fluid. When I asked him why, he said, "it's a waste of money". I measured water content in break fluid and it was in the red. I took it to a different mechanic, they said break fluid was dirty and in need of immediate replacement. The rear break pads were gone. Breaks were listed on Jim's invoice as checked. I had to swap them at the other mechanic. So everything that I could check didn't check out. Use at your own risk.

On top of that, I NEVER had to step into a dealership, talk to a salesperson directly, spend hours playing the "let me ask my manager" game, or have to talk to a Finance manager and repeatedly say NO to unnecessary options. All communication was easily done through email and text, although phone and in-person contact was also available. Process starts with completing a convenient online request. From there, Kim contacted me to fully understand my wishlist, range of optional requirements, and any non-negotiables. After reaching out to their dealer network, within a day she provided a list of potential matches with estimated OTD prices, which included some in SoCal available for transfer to the Bay Area and cars still in production with estimated availability dates. I had a lot of questions and some requests and Kim was very responsive and instrumental in relaying them to the dealer and advocating for me. Even my request to remove all dealer installed options was negotiated by Kim and granted by the dealer with no hassle on my end. I paid the BuySide Auto fee to reserve the car for purchase and when the car was available I opted to pickup at their office in SF. Home delivery to SF is also currently no charge, while delivery outside of the city is available with a modest fee. Upon first contact, I asked if weekend pickup or delivery was available, since their normal hours are on weekdays. Kim made note of it and remembered my preference even after the sale was completed. Chris was able to make himself available for Saturday pickup! We took a walk around the car took a look inside. We spent no more than 10 minutes reviewing and signing paperwork, received my keys, and I was off with my brand new car! Both Kim and Chris were great to work with and I have no hesitation in working with them again for future car purchases.

That's how I felt driving up to SF to view a Nissan Leaf we liked the look of on their website. Green Light could not have been more of a breath of fresh air. We looked around the cars in the lot entirely unhassled by the sales team. No smell of sleaze as the sharks circle their prey. We had to go into the office to ask for the keys to looks inside the one we like, even then we were left completely alone to - y'know - make our own d*mn minds up. We took the car for a test drive ENTIRELY ON OUR OWN, no blather, no constant triangulation to find our pressure-points, weak-spots. We ended up waiting in their office for while (our fault, not theirs!) and we had nothing but a pleasant conversation with their sales guy about health insurance and weather and stuff. So we bought the car for a perfectly reasonable price. And it's been great. We were never treated with anything but total respect and courtesy. I can't say how utterly different this experience was to what I expected and it's like entering the garden of eden of car sales. It should always have been like this. You guys rock, hard.

I purchased a vehicle from Green Light Auto Wholesale in Daly City and financed a little over…read more$41,000. My problem is not with the car. My problem is with the financing experience. I have excellent established credit and a long history of successfully financing vehicles. I had just paid off a Tesla loan that was at approximately 6.5%. I was also prequalified with Chase and Capital One before purchasing this vehicle. Since this purchase, I have been prequalified with Ally around 6.5%, and PenFed has prequalified me around 6.5%. When I arrived at Green Light, I was told they worked with Capital One. The financing I ultimately left with through Capital One was 9.99% for 60 months. That immediately bothered me because I specifically questioned the financing and was told, in substance, that they don't mark things up. I contacted Capital One afterward and specifically asked what rate Capital One originally approved before any dealer participation or markup. They would not disclose a buy rate to me and would only tell me that my signed contract says 9.99%. I am NOT claiming that I know what Capital One's original buy rate was because neither Capital One nor the dealership has provided that information to me. What I can say is that I find a 9.99% rate extremely difficult to understand considering my credit and the approximately 6.5% financing available to me elsewhere. I was unhappy enough with the financing that within FIVE DAYS I paid the $41,000+ Capital One balance down to approximately $900. I am leaving that small balance temporarily so my regular lender can refinance it at approximately 6.5%, pay Capital One directly, and handle the lien/title lender-to-lender. So instead of carrying their 9.99% loan for 60 months, essentially the entire principal was gone within five days. For perspective, even Capital One currently advertises 60-month used-auto rates as low as approximately 6.5% for borrowers with excellent credit characteristics. Obviously advertised rates don't guarantee anyone a particular approval, but combined with the other financing offers available to me, it makes my 9.99% contract even more frustrating. If Green Light wants to respond publicly, I would welcome one simple answer: What was Capital One's original lender-approved buy rate on my transaction, and did Green Light receive any dealer reserve or rate participation on my 9.99% contract? I would be happy to update this review if they provide a straightforward answer. I like the vehicle. I did not like the financing experience at all. Anyone with strong credit buying here should consider arriving with their credit-union financing completely finalized and should compare the dealer-arranged APR carefully before signing.
