My correspondence with Jackie their office support was fantastic comparing against others. She was quick on email and I had an appt booked for an estimate within a week or two as it was spring and the weather was getting nice. Joey showed up, took a video, and I had my estimate in hand in a day. He listened to exactly the look and product I wanted used. It was not an easy cookie cutter patio. Their price was in line with the other 3 estimates I got back for the same project. The project started fast because it was going to be a 4 day job so they fit it into a slot of space they had. Within another week or two they had the crew come excavate my backyard patio area and demo my walkway that was concrete and needing replacement. The excavating team was about 5-6 guys and they worked quick to go deep for the patio. Next day they were installing the paver I chose which was a Unilock Copthorne paver. It had to be hand blended and I wanted a herringbone pattern. The backyard patio was a 90 degree herringbone and the walkway was a 45 degree herringbone. Both came out fantastic. His guys were so good especially the ones they are blending and wet sawing all the edges. They work so well together and their team is really professional. I would highly recommend them for your backyard needs like patios, walkways, bbq, fire pits, hardscaping etc.

We waited a full year before writing this review because we wanted to see how our new lawn would…read morelook over time. Unfortunately, we are extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the lawn installation and overall workmanship. We paid over $4,200 for a new lawn installation with cultivation, grading, loam, seed, and follow-up overseeding. One year later, the lawn is patchy, uneven, and full of different grass types and dark clumps throughout the yard despite having a brand new irrigation system. Vinny promised the lawn would look amazing by the following year, but that is absolutely not what we got. Our overall ~$50K project included paving, irrigation, and landscaping, and there were problems throughout the process. Luckily, I was working from home because I constantly had to supervise the crew and catch mistakes myself. At one point the crew had the wrong patio layout before installation. Downspouts that were agreed upon were initially not installed. The pavement was also installed incorrectly, causing major water pooling and dangerous ice buildup in winter before they eventually redid it. The irrigation system was another issue. Our contract clearly included Wi-Fi controls, but they were not installed initially and Vinny tried to claim they had been removed from the contract. Before the controls were installed, the irrigation system ran nonstop and resulted in an additional ~$1,800 water bill before we were able to monitor it ourselves. Our experience was that Vinny is a great salesman who will do everything to win your business, but the execution and follow-through did not match what was promised. We regret giving this project to this company and would strongly encourage others to carefully evaluate other options before hiring them.

It's not right for a company to treat immigrants this way. This is a dishonest company that blatantly tries to deny any wrongdoing, so it really doesn't matter what they tell you, and there are far better companies to hire out of Wayland.

He came by, and I gave him an overview of what my condo was looking to achieve. Our front garden was a mess with weeds growing as tall as me. We also had weeds growing along our back yard fence line and a garden where my previous neighbors were planting flowers. The rear garden bed was filled with rocks too. Aroldo advised that his team can remove all of the weeds in the 3 locations, put down fertilizer and mulch and even a cloth to prevent weeds from coming back. He also indicated that he can use the rocks to create a barrier of the garden beds in the front and back. He provided some options, but we ultimately decided on the basic package. He even agreed to transfer flowers over from the back to the front, and promised to remove some branches on the side of the house that was blocking the pathway. His team came and did a fantastic job. My condo neighbors, my wife, and I are so happy with the job that Aroldo's team has done. We have nothing but great praises. We look forward to hiring him again in the future.

However, there were many projects to be completed at my deceased mother's house. Because I am disabled and not able to get to the property, I couldn't see how badly I was taken advantage of. Not only did I pay for a job they did not do, I also paid for another job that is unfinished, plus a french drain that is causing a sink hole, and the buried equipment is now above ground. All 3 of these projects pose safety risks. The french drain collapse is only 6 months after installation. After bringing these issues to the owners attention (the unfinished project I'd requested be completed for months), the owner began ignoring me. When I mentioned that litigation was going to move forward, the owner said he'd look at the work that week then blew me off again. When they actually do work, Golden Hill's quality of work is atrocious and will need to be fixed. They broke the house vinyl siding when cutting down a tree branch and refused to fix it. I hired a contractor to fix that. They will overcharge (snowplowing is expensive), take advantage of you if you are a senior or disabled, and will try to get paid without working. They should not be in business and allowed to take advantage. I now have to pay someone else to fix their work, finish their work, and do a $375 job they never did. They've been paid over $10,000, with more work to be done at multiple properties. They agreed to do a quote at a second property, then never showed up. One would figure, with that kind if business, a company would want to perform quality work and respond to a dedicated customer. Aroldo at Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction will do a poor job or not at all, blow off appointments, ignore requests, and refuse to fix problems. He will, however, not hesitate to pick up a check. You should not ever hire them. If you do, be prepared to throw money away.

Working with Masonworks has been a roller coaster. They are very, very good at the masonry aspect,…read morebut we had a negative experience with everything outside of the excellent stone walls and patio they built for us. They have built beautiful flat stone walls for us in our front and back yards. We were very impressed with them after the first job they did for us in our front yard a few years ago, so we did not even look at other companies when we wanted to spruce up our backyard this year. The garden walls they built in the backyard were once again beautiful. However, as a gardener, I was disappointed and frustrated by the following things: - Our contract included 50/50 loam compost for the new garden beds. During the job, we caught them filling the beds with the grass they had pulled up from our old lawn and asked them to stop doing that. - When I went to start planting, I found that the garden beds had only a layer of new soil but that my shovel quickly hit a lot of big rocks and uncovered old soil, debris, and trash. - They completely trampled and destroyed my established perennial garden, which was located in a garden bed above where the new beds were built. They also broke several pavers in a little garden path I had and removed them without replacing them. - They recommended microclover for my lawn and seeded it for us as part of the contract, but it grew in quite spotty despite us maintaining it properly with daily waterings. I contacted them about the first issue and their initial response was to tell me that the stones I was finding were part of the wall construction - this was not the case. They had someone come out to take a look and concluded that the soil did need to be replaced, which they finally did. It is much better now, though I still have found some large stones in it. However, in the process of solving that issue, they caused the second one - many of the perennials that my mother and I had worked to plant over the past four years were totally destroyed. They offered me a credit to compensate for the loss, or the option to have them reinstall new flowers, but by that point I just didn't want them near my garden anymore so accepted the credit. I didn't bother contacting them about the spotty lawn - I threw down some grass seeds yesterday to try and fill in the gaps. While I appreciated that they did eventually take steps to resolve the issues, I found it quite frustrating to have to keep reaching out just to get them to do what they really should have done in the first place. They never did a final walkthrough as I've seen other contractors do. No apology for destroying my garden. They have a Benjamin Franklin quote, "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten" - I definitely felt some of that bitterness throughout this process. My conclusion is that they are really excellent masons but do not understand or respect gardens. If you hire them, be prepared to have to deal with that.
