The sandwich I received was okay, a little messy, but it was a to-go order and that was to be expected. As taste was concerned, I was hoping for something more, but that doesn't waver my expectations for the next time. The bad: The first thing overall was the customer service: I walked in late afternoon and only one customer was inside. The rest were employees behind the counter. As I made my way in, they saw me and kept to their task. I moved to the counter, grabbed a paper menu, and waited. I looked to the board above on the wall. Kept waiting. Not one person said "hello", "we'll be right with you", "hang on", "are you ready?", etc. Silence. 5 full minutes. Not a long time, sure, but when you're standing there and you're ready, and employees don't seem to acknowledge you're in the building, it makes it frustrating. Finally, someone came to take my order, and everything was fine from that point.

Cudos to you for excellent service in the face of difficulties. I can assure you this was no small dribble, it was the entire 16 oz glass. The lady at the counter was so inviting and was amazing at making additional suggestions for us. The food came out timely and was beyond tasty. When paying I asked "who gets the tip?" (I don't ever leave a tip at eateries like this simply for the person taking my order lol) and this is when I learned that she was the manager of the location. I proceeded to with my tip even though she could receive it knowing it would be split amongst her amazing staff. The facility was clean, bathrooms were tidy and the atmosphere was quiet and quaint. I tried the Newk's Q pizza and my SO got my usual for the 1st time the Newk's Q sandwich. They both tasted delicious. Thank you Charlene for your exceptional service, bubbly personality, knowledge of menu items, and for the convo and laughs.

I order from Newk's frequently and typically get the same items--a BBQ pizza, sometimes with a…read moreCaesar salad. Unfortunately, I've consistently noticed an issue with how pickup orders are handled. The pizza is always placed on an unheated pickup shelf, and by the time I arrive, it's already cold. Today, I ordered both the pizza and a Caesar salad. The salad was sitting on the top shelf, which is not temperature controlled, and it was noticeably warm when I picked it up. The pizza, on the lower shelf, was cold as usual. After experiencing this multiple times, I decided to leave a review. Shortly after posting, I received a text message--presumably from the owner--that came across as dismissive and rude. I want to be clear that I'm not looking for anything free. My concern is simply about food safety and quality. A pickup station without temperature control raises valid concerns, especially when items like salads contain dairy products that shouldn't sit at room temperature. As a regular customer who orders takeout often and dines in about once a month, this experience was disappointing. Rather than addressing the concern, the response I received felt accusatory, as if my review was written with ulterior motives. Because of this, I've decided to take my business elsewhere.

Needless to say with our recent run on Oyster Bars knew we had to stop in Fresh off the road we worked up an appetite and got right to it. We ordered some Patron doubles, which honestly were crazy over priced at $18 a shot, some chargrilled oysters, fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, gumbo, and bienville oysters just so we could have a sampler of multiple items To get right to the point, the chargrilled oysters which were freshly shucked or smothered with butter and cheese and absolute money! The Bienville were covered with shrimp had a healthy amount of crab meat and a creamy Parmesan sauce that were good but something about char-grilled Flavor that made these take a back seat The fried green tomatoes were very crisp on the outside and delicious texture on the inside but the signature crawfish sauce I can't put my finger on it but it was absolutely amazing The crab cakes were no lie 99% crab with next to no filler which is rare nowadays and the remoulade sauce was totally made in house And then finally the gumbo which was highly recommended due to all the achievements it's one, had the right balance of heat spice shrimp, crawfish, crab meat and, okra is a must try! The po-boy fish sandwich was a healthy sized fillet and you could tell was fried to perfection All in all I feel this was a great experience just touching down in Alabama, the only thing that made us laugh was we tried all this hot food when it was 102° outside. Shout out to Josh for that good old southern hospitality as he took care of us like we were family!

As for the BBQ, that's a bit of a different story. Let me say this first, nothing was nasty, it just didn't have the flavors you expect when eating BBQ. There was zero smoke flavor, the main BBQ sauce was too sweet with no heat, and the ribs and pulled pork lacked seasoning overall. Everything seemed to rely on the sauce, which didn't really hit the mark. I wouldn't turn anyone away from it, 'd say try it for yourself. I'm more of a Carolina BBQ guy anyway.
