Need to provide some context for this review. I am traveling for work this week around various cities in Alabama. Yesterday i stayed in Tuscaloosa and wanted to try this restaurants location there. I ordered online and within got a call in which the manager indicated they were out of wings and could not fulfill the order, he asked if i wanted something else or just to cancel. Other things on the menu looked good but was really in the mood for wings which are my favorite food so i just canceled. I got an email asking for feedback so i filled it out. I did not leave anything negative but simply noted what happened and that i really wanted to try their wings but was only in town for the one night. Today i received an email from a managing partner noting that my refund would be processed within 5-7 days so that was nice that there was follow up confirmation. Additionally, he gave me a gift card to used next time i was in town, that is absolutely incredible customer service. I happened to be staying in Montgomery the following night and noticed they had a location about 10 mins from my hotel so below is my review of the highly regarded wings. The Managing Partner that provided me the gift card noted that the wings would blow me away, and let me tell you: he was absolutely right! They were absolutely incredible. All were very big and all smoked so perfectly they fell off the bone! Definitely a contender for the best wings i have ever had!! Buffalo sauce was also delicious. Order was ready in less that 30 mins which was also appreciated. The food is good, but the service has significant room for improvement. We came for dinner around 5PM and the BBQ restaurant ran out of brisket when they don't close until 9pm. Interesting. During our last two visits--despite the restaurant not being very busy--service was slow and lacked urgency. The staff were very nice and friendly, but expeditious service didn't seem to be a priority. It felt like the issue could be a mix of limited staffing, lack of training, or simply a lack of urgency. Drinks were slow to arrive, sometimes missing, and often left empty. The ambiance is typical for a BBQ restaurant, but the space could benefit from better cleaning and a more vibrant reorganization. Our group of 12 was seated in the back, which felt more like a storage area or a closet than a proper dining space. With improvements in service efficiency and some attention to the atmosphere, the overall experience could be much better. read more

Jim n Nick's Barbecue is very good for many reasons. I have eaten at the restaurant, ordered and picked up food, and DoorDashed delivery and it's always reliably good. Come here on a regular day or on the Fourth of July and it's always good. You need to host people at your house during football season or on bowl days, for the Superbowl, and don't feel like grilling, they are set up to handle the foot traffic and high volume of orders. The parking lot is able to handle the volume. We like their ribs and brisket in particular. Sometimes the ribs are enormous! The only downside is this high volume means the ribs may be rushed and they may not have time for proper smoking and caramelization, with a bit more rendering of fat out of the ribs. They will still be meaty and juicy ribs, but a rib connoisseur would prefer them with more time in the smoker. The brisket is very good too. They manage to put some bark on the brisket and I appreciate that very much. It is not always a pronounced bark, but when they give it the time for that bark, the palate is rewarded with the texture and flavor you crave. The brisket has a beautiful ring on it when the bark is pronounced. I like their regular sauce, which the whole family likes. The spicy is a bit much for our tastes, but the sauces are all good. The sides are good too; though, admittedly not at the level of the barbecue. The baked beans are the standout, but the collards are good too. The collards have a little vinegar and slight spicy kick to them. The cheese corn biscuits are the number one side by far. They are really like small cornbread muffins and they serve them with maple sweetened whipped butter that is a marriage with no divorce. They live happily ever after together and you will love these cheese biscuits and order them every time. They serve a great sweetened tea and the Arnold Palmer is even better in my opinion. This review is long overdue, but I have been here and ordered too many times to let it go without reviewing and saying something. We've had their chicken too. It's not over priced and the atmosphere is nice inside should you eat here. Three and a half quality stars! read more

On a Wednesday afternoon, I was in Montgomery visiting for my cousin's HS graduation. Afterwards, her dad said that we were going to try and eat at Jim N Nicks, which delighted me because I love you guys. We got there around 3 pm and it was kinda empty and as a former server, I knew we probably had just came in right after a few of the lunch crew were released for the day. Our group of 12 was quickly seated with out much fanfare though and were quickly provided with beverages. I want to take a moment to acknowledge how amazing your staff is. Alexia and crew managed to be attentive and let us know about any delays and why and we appreciated it so much. Our orders were taken and food was delivered perfectly along with many personalizations. we were able to eat and fellowship without missing anything from our food orders and with our cups never empty from refills. Even closing our bill out was done without much fanfare. I hope we were able to show our appreciation monetary with a big tip but I wanted to make sure I expressed as happy as I always am with the food at Jim N Nicks, I was very pleased and appreciative of the service Alexia and crew exhibited. I would def recommend this location and, of course, the food. Food: No Pictures. I didn't take any because I was obsessed with talking with family. but I ordered and shared the 3 meat combo with 2 sides with my mom. Meat: pulled pork, spare ribs, and brisket. Sides: Collard greens (Love their collard greens and didn't need to add anything to it) , Potato salad (sooooo goood), and added an extra side of a house salad with ranch which was a great starter. Today we had lunch at Jim and Nick's BBQ on the Atlanta Highway in Montgomery. We had the loaded barbecue baked potato and a half rack of barbecue baby back ribs. Both were excellent. The service was pleasant and efficient. We were seated promptly our order was taken right away and we got our food quickly. We sat in a comfortable booth and enjoyed our meal. I will call ahead with the order, wait 15 minutes to drive there and still have to wait 20 minutes on an order that they get wrong. Not worth the hassle of waiting for this BBQ. Visited Jim 'N Nick's while on a work trip in Montgomery, AL. This was a hidden gem. The service was great. The ambiance was fitting for a BBQ joint, low lighting and music being played throughout. As soon as we got settled at our table, our server brought over warm cheese biscuits. The biscuits were delicious and set the tone. Our server made some suggestions from the menu and I went with the loaded baked potato with brisket. It was hugeeee! The mound of brisket piled on top of the potato was tender and juicy! I also ordered a Berry crush with tequila instead of vodka. This cocktail had fresh muddled blueberries and lemons. The pricing for the food and drinks was extremely reasonable. Do NOT eat here if you have an allergy. Three different times we have attempted pick up, and specified an allergy. 2 of those 3 times, the allergy has been ignored. Salads have grown smaller over the years and the meat seems to be more fat than edible parts. The store inside is not what we are used to with Jim N Nicks, so we've gotten it to go, but unfortunately, we will no longer be customers. read more

The food at Jim 'N Nick's is always very good. On the latest visit, we tried 3 lbs of the Classic Spare Ribs, which is very plentiful. The ribs are large and well sauced. We also order the 3 Meat Combo with the BBQ Chicken, Beef Brisket, and Classic Pulled Pork. I wish the portions on this plate were a little more considering the price. However, each of the meats were flavorful and tasted great. Also love the cheese biscuits. If you've never been to a Jim 'N Nick's, you will love these little suckers. They are small but taste really great. The only issue we had on this visit was the service. It took us a long time to place our order, a long time to get our drinks, and an excruciatingly long time to pay the bill. We came during a work lunch, and it took so long that part of our party had to leave early. This was unfortunate as I would've liked to have given more stars. Food. I got the 4 chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. I loved the chicken tenders. They were so crispy, and the chicken was extremely juicy and "chicken-y" tasting. The BBQ Habenero sauce was amazing and had just enough kick to it. The buffalo sauce was good but could be more spicy. I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes too. They were creamy and buttery, and the gravy had a lot of peppery taste to it. Service. There was a major mishap with our reservation. We had a larger party, and we reserved ahead of time. When we got there, they told us they didn't have our table, and it would be 30 minutes until we sat down! The service was slightly slow given that it was a busy night. Ambiance. Service was absolutely fantastic. My wife and I did not have a long wait, we were seated immediately. There was a very long line for carry out though. It has a family atmosphere. Our server was fantastic. She was attentive and prompt for the most part. The corn bread muffins with a sweet butter was delicious. The food arrived quickly and all at once. Food is good, but both times I ordered door dash they've forgotten items. This time it was soup and enough cutlery. Last time they forgot the honey butter for the many mini muffins, and I ordered a spice rub and they forgot that too. I made a review but no action was taken to rectify the issue. Stopped here for dinner on a Friday night while on a road trip. Food was good. The complimentary cheese biscuits they serve are soo good. Service was very slow. We had a party of ten, but that shouldn't be an issue. We went through just about our entire meal without a drink refill because our waitress just wasn't around much. When she was around, I felt like she was a little frazzled. Didn't want to judge because I don't know what she has going on. I would typically at least mention this to management, not to be an annoying customer, but so they can fix any issues, but I was extremely tired myself and we were all just ready to get back on the road. They never answered. Went in. COMPLETELY disorganized. Tried using the code to scan a menu, that didn't work. Tried telling someone as I waited in line to order take out. She said she's told leadership and it's fallen on deaf ears. I finally make it to the front and I'm told the wait is an hour and a half.
