    Captain Candy Storefront and Entrance

O Candy, my Captain! The road has been rocky. The chocolate dark. Yet, all canals lead to candy. You're on vacation in Venice, Italy and, obviously, there are lots of reasons to steer clear of this delightful pirate booty with barrels full of sweet candies, but, don't you see? You are on vacation, savvy? Holidays are exactly when you should rediscover the youthful sins of your sweet tooth ... especially in Venezia, the city of candy. It wasn't tough to choose which chocolates, marshmallows, gummies, and candies to put in my little weigh-n-pay bag. I just scooped and grabbed whatever I wanted like a greedy candy pirate. The tough part was stopping because I consider candy the way Jack Sparrow ruminates about rum. A few of the most-valued treasures were: * Creamy Stracciatella (Stracciatella Cremosa) discs with White Chocolate and Dark Chocolate * Dragon Eggs (Uova di Drago) with Almonds covered in Milk Chocolate with Tiramisu * Strawberry-shaped Marshmallows (Malva Fragola) Sure, the sweet candy jewels here are expensive, but I'm on vacation. I'm not letting a few mysterious Euros keep me from plundering my diet or going on a buccaneer of a sugar rush. Captain Candy joins my list of favorite captains ... along with America, Kangaroo, Obvious, and Picard. The latter would no doubt declare to "Make it so..." when discovering this bountiful candy market. Aye aye, Captain Candy!

Oh my goodness! This place is a sweet tooth heaven! Before you even begin to enter the door you can smell the sugar wafting in the air. All of the candy is in barrels around the room and there are great options to choose from. There are scoopers and bags all around and you can use them to put your candy in from any barrel. You take it to the front and pay by weight. It is a fun experience for sure.

I loved this store! It took me down memory lane with all the candy they had available from my childhood. There is LOTS to choose from and they charge you by weight. Check them out if you are nearby, its literally candy heaven.

Started in 1948 by Luciano and his wife, it's now run by their two sons. The warmth and hospitality of a family owned business shines through and they're proud to show the quality merchandise they have on hand. A dizzying 600 Italian wines can be found towards the back of the store and you're welcome to stay and peruse as long as you want. We choose a half bottle of Moscato for the bf's sister in law which went well with the biscottis they had on hand too. They carry a good variety of chocolate and candies, pastas, dried goods etc. But you really need to come for the spices! Every spice known to man is here in this shop, kept in tightly sealed glass canisters or wooden boxes. They are weighed and you're charged accordingly. Don't miss their truffle salt and truffle butter! I only got mini bottles of both since there was no more room in our luggage! We couldn't be more happier with our purchases here and at a fraction of a cost if we would've gone to a big chain store. A great find!

We stumbled upon this wonderful store in the San Palo district near the Rialto Bridge and later found out that it was one of the best as recommended by a local guide. The BEST Gelato We Had in Venezia!…read more As we wrapped up our day in Venezia and started making our way back to catch the train to Milano, we decided to make one last stop for dessert and I'm so glad we did! Without a doubt, this was the best gelato I had during my entire trip to Italy.I've been to Italy before, and this place is still my favorite. One thing I loved right away was that they let you sample the flavors before deciding, so you don't have to guess what you'll like. They also had plant-based gelato and plant-based milkshakes which was a huge plus for anyone who doesn't eat dairy. For such a small gelato shop, I was honestly surprised by how much they offered. They had a huge variety of gelato flavors, including Tiramisu Kinder Sorpresa Snickers and many others. They also had different cone options, including regular cones, chocolate-dipped cones, and sprinkle-covered cones. If you're not in the mood for gelato, they also had milkshakes and what looked like refreshing frozen drinks or slushies. I decided to get my gelato in a cone instead of a cup. I ordered the **Kinder Sorpresa and Snickers flavors, and they were absolutely incredible. The Kinder Sorpresa tasted just like the famous Kinder chocolate rich, creamy milk chocolate with a sweet cream flavor that melted in your mouth. The Snickers flavor was loaded with chocolate, caramel, and peanut flavor, just like the candy bar. The combination of the two was perfect. To top it off, my cone came with a thin, crispy cookie, which was a nice little bonus. Everyone in our group loved their gelato and milkshakes. The only exception was my sister. She ordered what I believe was the banana flavor, and she felt it was a little too basic for her taste. Everyone else, though, couldn't stop talking about how good theirs was. What made the experience even better was the customer service. The gentleman helping us was friendly, funny, engaging, and genuinely seemed to enjoy helping customers. He encouraged us to sample flavors and made the whole experience fun. If you're walking through the streets of Venezia this is a stop you don't want to miss. Whether you're craving gelato, a milkshake, or just a sweet treat before heading back to your hotel or train, this place has something for everyone. 10/10.Amazing flavors, lots of variety, great customer service, and hands down the best gelato I had in Italy. This is definitely a must-stop if you're visiting Venezia!

Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness - 3.5/5…read more I love Magnum ice cream bars - the decadent chocolate always knocks my socks off and the ice cream is always flavor and creamy. So I wasn't about to pass up the chance to get my own custom made ice cream bar. Basically you can have an ice cream bar dipped into thick milk chocolate or white chocolate coating and then drenched in toppings (you get three built in to the price). They make sure to absolutely coat every inch in topping, so it's worth the price. Although the bar lacked my favorite thing about the store brand (that thin liquidly layer of chocolate under the shell), it was still a more-than-decadent treat. They also have a decent amount of liquor offerings, and my wife (who was sticking strictly to gelato) opted for a high-end prosecco that was tasty and bubbly! That said, many of the critiques are true. The servers were inattentive at best. But nothing over the top that justifies a bunch of "1-star" ratings. And yes, you need to pay to sit at the indoor or outdoor searing - but that's true of virtually every Italian restaurant (so I'm not sure why other reviewers were so mad. Also, they had plenty of signs noting that they charge for seating). Also of note - and hitting my puerile sense of humor, Google Maps calls is the "Magnum Pleasure Store" when you're looking it up. So trust me, it's ice cream, not uhhhh something else. So a fun experience for sure, though definitely a "can do" experience if you're tired of gelatto, not a "must eat" place.
