I got the recommendation online and I booked without thinking much of it but I would highly highly recommend going to Captain Bruce! We had an amazing time, the staff on board was super friendly and helpful. The area we went to was lovely and we were able to snorkel as well as paddle board and have some fun in the sun. All gear was included; life vests, goggles, snorkelers, paddle boards, ring tubes, Frisbee, volleyball, football, and more! My partner has glasses and they even have prescription goggles if you ask them as well! There were also a few people in our group who were not very confident swimmers and the staff helped them along the way by assisting them through the snorkeling area to ensure that they would enjoy it as well which was very nice of them. They also include snacks like spam musubi, chips, granola bars, waters, juice, and sodas. Highly recommend visiting Kaneohe Sandbar with Captain Bruce Tours. This was our second time visiting the sandbar with Captain Bruce & both times were so fun and magical (Sept. 2022 & Oct. 2023). The entire crew is absolutely awesome and made everyone feel safe the entire time (special shout-outs to Jamie, Karen, Casey, Capt. Hosanna, & Capt. Robin). We played on their paddle boards, swam in the warm, shallow water in the middle of the sandbar, snorkeled with lots of fish & swam with turtles. He took group photos for us, drove around the sandbar while we snacked onboard, lead me safely around snorkeling where we saw sea turtles tucking themselves away in the coral. Make sure to go to the morning tour because you'll have a higher chance of seeing the sea turtles. The staff were friendly and nice. The boat has snacks and drinks for the passengers. At the sand bar, they have paddle boats, inflatable tubes, beach balls, etc. to play with. My mother, who has a fear of the ocean, was assisted by Captain Robin. This is an amazing snorkeling tour. First you get picked up in a bus and taken to a harbor, and then you board a boat and go out to a sand bar. On the boat there is a variety of snacks and drinks including water, hot chocolate, guava nectar and coffee. From there you can choose if you want to snorkel, play in the water, wade through the water, just swim, paddle board, float on a tube, or you can stay on the boat. The paddle boards and tubes are included in the tour. They also provide snorkeling masks and snorkels if you don't have your own, but you can bring your own if you want to. They have anti-fog spray for the snorkel masks so you can see clearly the whole time you are snorkeling and it works very well. While I was snorkeling I saw more than ten sea turtles, a big variety of fish including pencil fish, lots of coral, and you can choose how deep in the water you go. They provide life jackets too, and you can take them off once you go out if you want to dive deeper. GoPros and phones are allowed. If you are wondering about sharks, they are seen here but not often. No one saw any while we were there. One of the workers said she had recently seen a couple hammerhead sharks but they just swam around and didn't do anything to anyone. This trip is also not a problem if you can't swim or aren't sure if you can because they provide life jackets and you can just stay in shallow water where you can touch if you want. This tour is around 2 hours out on the water and the boat ride is around 5 minutes and the boat doesn't rock that much so if you usually get sea sick you should be fine since it isn't a long ride. There is also a small bathroom on the boat and lots of seating. I enjoyed this a lot and I think if you have the opportunity to do it you will be glad you did! It was amazing seeing sea turtles up close. Just so you know it is illegal to touch the sea turtles and you shouldn't follow them, but they might come close to you if you don't scare them away. They are very calm most of the time and will not bite you, hurt you or bother you as long as you don't bother them. I got about three inches away from one at one point because it came up to breathe. read more

No availability so we called and Hector was very kind. He opened up a boat for us! We booked it for the next day 3 hrs PM excursion from 1-4 pm. Kevin and Jason were our hosts and they were amazing, patient, friendly, and thoughtful! They had snacks for us. We brought canned drinks and they had this floatie for us to put our drinks while we hung out at the sandbar. The snorkeling experience was phenomenal! The life vests made it so easy to snorkel! Even if you're not a strong swimmer, you will be able to snorkel out far and see so many fish and sea turtles. They had snorkel gears available. They even had this floatie with a clear window for little tots to lay and float on to view the ocean. After snorkeling, we were cold. They had hot tea and coffee available. They even had blankets!!! Talk about being thoughtful!! Jason and Kevin were so nice and friendly. We had tons of kids with us and we all had a good time! They definitely make this excursion one of the BEST excursion in Oahu! This was our second time doing the sandbar at Kaneohe Bay with Captain Bruce. Our crew today consisted of Robin, Casey, and a woman whose name I did not get but she was equally amazing. We absolutely loved the experience we had spending time at the sandbar and thank the crew on the Captain Bruce boat for making the day so outstanding, especially Captain Hosanna. Booking, even last minute, was super easy, check in was simple and quick and the boat was comfortable, loaded with snacks and drinks and the crew were helpful, funny and made us feel very at ease. We did not take the bus but rather chose to drive and see other things along the way. Heading to the sandbar, we stopped to look at some turtles but the trip was quick and we were in the water immediately. There is a certain area that you must stay but there is plenty of room for everyone for sure. Snorkelers wore life vests and went to a deeper area with plenty of assistance and lots of fish and turtles to see. Surprisingly, our favorite part was just floating around the sandbar, swimming, chatting and relaxing. It was incredibly calm, quiet and peaceful. On the day we went, there was literally no one else insight. Others seemed to really enjoy the paddle boards and taking pictures and Hosanna and crew were great at getting everyone to have fun and laugh. Our family took the pontoon boat tour out to Kaneohe Sandbar last Saturday and it was by far the best day of our 9 day trip to Hawaii. If you have an extra half day on Oahu, please consider this a must do! Our Captain, Kekoa, was so knowledgeable, safe, and thoughtful every step of the way. The entire trip was a fun adventure, and the snorkeling experience was exciting. We brought our own snorkel gear, and one of them went missing. The tour includes equipment rental, like snorkel, life vest, paddle board, etc. But it's an option for guests to bring their own. It's generally safe to store your belongings in the storage bins provided, but things can get misplaced if you're not careful. The boat staff are friendly and helpful.
