Our trip to the Kaneohe Sand Bar was the highlight of my son's birthday. The beauty is unparalleled. We saw so many sea turtles during our short boat ride. When we anchored, we had about an hour to engage in water play. Captain Bruce has a barge full of water toys to choose from - floats, paddle boards, footballs, etc. After that, our guides handed us our snorkeling gear, and we went out to the reef. We saw so many fish and swam with a sea turtle. My family had so much fun snorkeling and paddle boarding. Spam musubi, chips, water, juice, coffee, and tea were included, and they allowed us to put our adult beverages in their cooler. The guides were outstanding and always put our safety first. A couple of us were stung by jellyfish, which are prevalent in the bay, but the reward was worth the risk. Our driver to the marina, Ken, was one of the most memorable people I've ever met. I am an avid repeat customer of Captain Bruce. We've been going out with them since my daughter was in high school and continue to take visiting relatives out spanning my parents in their 80s to young adults in college. We've done tours on the west side, south side and east side. They have all been fantastic. But what sets Captain Bruce apart is the spirit of aloha and ohana of everyone who works there from the boat crews to the bus drivers to the office workers to the owners. I remember in particular when we had to reschedule a charter because my in-laws died how amazing they were. Also recently, when my elderly parents and aunt with us out in Kaneohe, they treated them like they were their own elders. What an absolutely amazing experience! We came to Oahu for my Mom's 70th birthday and I suggested this as an activity. It's a short trip to the sandbar (10 minutes) and you're free to play around upon arrival. The boat was very clean and organized and the crew was extremely friendly. Once we arrived to the sanbar we were allowed to get off the boat and play in the water. They provided tubes to float in, paddle boards, and snorkeling equipment. I played around on a paddle board for most of the time. I tried snorkeling but was a wimp when it came to getting off the sandbar into deep water. Haha! They gave very clear instructions on what to do and what not to do. Especially when it came to snorkeling near the coral reef, which can cut you up. Of course, some people didn't listen and a girl that was on the boat decided to stand on it. Just as the warned her foot got a pretty good cut. They were very attentive and helped get it cleaned and wrapped up. The trip also includes snacks and drinks which was very nice after playing in the water for a few hours. They had a great selection and enough for everyone. I will definitely plan another excursion with them in the future. AMAZING !!!! Captain Z was great ! We booked this excursion to come see some sea turtles . We weren't disappointed within 20 minutes of the excursion we saw two sleeping turtles and I would say 45 minutes into the excursion we saw two turtles within 2 feet from us . They have paddle boards and floaties for lounging and playing on the sandbar. They do allow you to bring your own snacks and alcoholic beverages as long as you don't leave a mess. Captain Bruce bus will pick you up from various hotels to accommodate those stay all around Waikiki. The ride is about 30 minutes to the port where captain Bruce boat is docked. The whole excursion is about four hours long but totally worth the half day of being out snorkeling with fish and sea turtles or having a beer or two. I am so glad to be able to book this tour. For non-swimmer like me, it will have no way to snorkel and view all the fishes and sea turtle! With the help of the crew, I am able to see many big sea turtles and even "swimming" with them! I cannot remember the name but there is a crew member who can speak Japanese she is really nice and helpful. She even dive in to the ocean and play a trick for us (to breathe out heart-shape bubble!) I am able to snorkel about an hour with the help of the crew ( they offer a floater for me so I can grab it and just look underneath!) Again I am so thankful to be able to join the tour. (Might want to check if it is a windy day, then it might be very difficult. Went on a calm day and it was very easy to swim. -1 small restroom on board. Snorkeling (TURTLES GALORE - so lucky!) -We went with the morning tour since I read we are more likely to see turtles AND MY GOODNESS...! I was lucky enough to swim WITH 3 huge turtles that day. Literally came within a foot to my face. It was an emotional experience that I will never forget. Swim calmly and steady and they will come right near you. We probably saw about 8 turtles that morning. We went at the end of August and it was about 84 degree with medium tide. Not a cloud in the sky with crystal blue waters. The Staff: -The staff, Capt. This was a last minute booking but boy this did not disappoint. This group took us out to a wonderful sandbar about a mile out from the coast. A quick ride out, dropped anchor and we were out grabbing Snorkle gear and what ever else we needed. I'm not a swimmer but I could effectively use the Snorkle gear. The kicker was being led out by the crew Crystal took me out safely while I Snorkeled I saw fish and even better turtles massive beautiful turtles. This crew has great has great respect for the coral reefs, the animals and it shows. I will def do this again with this great crew ! We decided to do the private boat tour instead of the group. There was 6 of us and we got the speed boat tour. Shuttle arrived on time, we arrived and were greeted and given instructions on where to go and where to meet once we completed the tour. We met with our Captain Kekoa. He was very polite, attentive to our group and very down to earth, and treated us like family! Kekoa took us to an area where we were able to photograph some turtles, then hit the sandbar for some fun on floaties, paddle boards, music. We got to determine when and if we even wanted to snorkel. After some fun on the sandbar our group decided it was time to snorkel. Kekoa was great! He took us around couple times and we still had extra time to relax and have some more fun time on the sandbar. Snacks, water, soda was provided and some great spam musibi! Omg the highlight of our trip!!!! Capitan Bruce was on top of everything and made our experience A1! At no additional cost, a shuttle came close to our hotel to get us. There were others on this shuttle but it's huge and very cold! We had our own boat w our captain, Kekoa! There was 4 of us total and I dressed up w my Hawaiian dress and flowers and took pictures before swimming. It was so dreamy w the water and sandbar. We saw a few turtles, we paddle boarded, we snorkeled and Captain Kekoa even pulled us around when we got too tired to swim so we can see everything under water! He absolutely went out of his way to deliver the full on experience to us. It started to rain and he immediately had all our belongings under the boat and Dry! He let us stay at each spot as long as we wanted and helped w everything you can think of. There's even a Bluetooth speaker on deck and you can play your music loudly! This was such a fun excursion. We booked their afternoon slot on Saturday at 1p. There was no parking in the lot when we arrived, so we parked on the street which was just a super short walk. Check-in was quick and easy! Our guides were Jason and Kevin and they were so awesome. Super friendly. Boat didn't feel crowded at all. They took us by a heart shaped reef before getting to the sandbar. It was just a 5 minute boat ride to the sandbar. The tide was high, so the water was waist deep. My husband and I played in the water for a bit before deciding to go snorkeling. Kevin sprayed our goggles with anti-fog so that our vision was clear. I saw him guiding guests who didn't know how to swim in his life floatie so that they could still snorkel! Jason saw me having difficulty swimming against the current during the snorkel and came to help me out as well. Snorkeling was amazing! We saw at LEAST 7 sea turtles and THEY WERE HUGE!!! So much bigger than I expected. So many of them were sleeping at the reef. A couple were swimming about 7-8 feet from us. One of them even swam in front of us down to his reef home. Lots of fish!!! I loved how we could bring our own food. My husband and I brought a bunch of musubi and snack chips. After snorkeling, we spent the rest of the time on the boat eating and snacking. Be sure to take Dramamine if you decide to spend more time on the boat. Jason made us coffee & hot chocolate to warm us up! The boat was also packed with snacks (chips, apples, granola bars) and drinks (soda, water, etc.). Such a wonderful experience! Be sure to lather on a LOT of sunscreen. My boyfriend and I had such an amazing time on this tour! We took the tour on 8/30/2021 at 1pm. The directions on finding the departure point were very easy. We parked in the lot, got our stuff, and checked in to get on the boat. The captain (I'm so sorry we forgot his name) was super helpful in explaining everything. When we got to the sandbar, there were snacks and refreshments for everyone! We brought our own seltzers and alcohol so we were able to store it in the cooler. We could easily access our stuff on the boat. Once we got to the sandbar, there were paddle boats and other water activities to rent. We spent most of our time exploring the sand bar, paddle boarding, and snorkeling. We saw schools of fish and seat turtles! We had such a great time and the crew took great care of us today. They were all attentive to all the passengers. Love that they made sure to communicate in Japanese for the Japanese speaking customers. AND all the crew spoke Japanese. Each of the crew members made sure to make their rounds to check in on everyone and make everyone feel at ease. There was a good amount of time on the sandbar with paddle boats, floaties, etc. The crew made sure we were all safe and stayed within the boundaries. We saw 2 hammerheads during our trip (shark dorsal fin only) and several sea turtles. I'm not a swimmer and the crew made all efforts to try to help me feel comfortable to snorkel around the coral reef. Let's say, I was able to "snorkel" and see a turtle with their help. I felt very safe for myself and my family. They mentioned facilities, but I didn't quite see how that works on this small boat. My suggestion, make sure you go before you get on the boat. Come dressed in your swimsuit and sunblock on before getting on the boat and make sure to bring a towel. The boat ride to the sandbar was quick, so no motion sickness. We were on the "green" boat, run 2 for the day. The boat was clean and there was a good selection of simple snacks and drinks for all of us- not just water :). There were also bins for you to store items you want to keep dry. Another great thing is that they provide clean water to rinse off the salt water after being in the ocean. I really appreciate that! Amazing day even with the rain. Definitely coming back when it's sunny and low tide. Captain Robin and his team were super friendly, amazing and patient. Even with the rain there was plenty of fish and turtles to see. I'm not a strong swimmer and I need to touch the bottom (it's weird I know) but Captain Robin was so accomodating, calming, understanding and patient and took me out to the deep reef area on a floater device and I was able to see the fish and turtles. I'm glad he did and I'm glad he didn't push me when tapped out early. True champion. The vessel is clean and has plenty of snacks and hot and cold drinks if you don't want to take your own. You can take your own alcohol and they also have plenty of water toys, paddle boards, floatation devices in a seperate raft. Make sure to bring cash to tip as they are definitely deserving of any gratuity and the experience is amazing as well. One I'll definitely do again when I'm back next time. We took the trip the very first time, and we were disappointed. The instructions for snorkeling were very confusing. I expected them to give me more details about snorkeling and their other activities. First, we couldn't even hear the girl on the boat telling us about the day. Please get a speaker. Secondly, the instructions were given briefly on the boat. After we landed and made our way to the beach, we weren't sure exactly what activities they offered or what we could do. The staff were there, but not very helpful in giving directions. Snorkeling was rushed to everyone, and they made it seem like if we missed it, then that would be it, and we wouldn't be able to do it again, even though they went in twice at two different times. However, we didn't know what to expect or do due to the poor direction. I suggest the team be supportive and give detailed directions to families who have not been there for the first time. They should've known that already since people visit them from all over the world. It was a big disappointment and a waste of money for us. I don't recommend this company. read more

They deserve it, you'll see! *** DO NOT PASS UP THIS OPPORTUNITY of a lifetime to paddle board, snorkle with turtles, and lounge in the ocean atop a white sand bar ... all while drinking alcohol and eating snacks in the warm waters of Hawaii. This is probably one of my favorite memories I've made in my life because it was so beautiful ... it made me think about how big God is to create a place like this and just how grateful I was for this experience. Price: Decent considering what you're getting. If you're staying at Waikiki, they have pick up locations. Everything in Hawaii is relatively expensive lol but this is a deal since you're getting transportation + activities + snacks + ability to bring your own food. Parking ( if you are driving - I still highly suggest the free shuttle) free parking at the dock. Bathrooms: 2 bathrooms- the one by the entrance of the parking lot is not as good as the one by the store. It's a pier bathroom more so like a very public bathroom so don't ha e high expectations lol. Showers: Showers are available to rinse off outside kinda like at the beach. Pro tip: bring 2 towels. One dry one for the tide home. It's about 45 min bus ride. Waterproof shoes, sun block, mini cooler bag for your food ( we brought musubi from foodland! ), waterproof bag and clothes to change into are a must if you wanna be comfortable. Oh and alcohol if you wish. They don't have that on board but you're welcome to bring it. AND GET THE DOLE WHIP ICE CREAM WHILE YOURE THERE! This is absolutely the best tour we've ever taken in Hawaii. The crew was fantastic! The boat was in great condition, very clean and the tour was absolutely phenomenal. Jamie and Z were AMAZING. They were so kind, interactive and informative. I brought my parents to Hawaii for their 50th wedding anniversary. My mother really wanted to snorkel but she had some minor health limitations. This tour was perfect for them. They brought us out to an area where my mom could easily stand up in the water. The boat was easy for her to get on and off of. The tour consisted of a short beautiful ride to a sandbar via a boat similar to a pontoon but much larger. Once at the sandbar, they had paddle-board's and other flotation devices for us to use. We snorkeled at the reef that stretched along the edge of the sandbar. We saw several turtles and many different colored fish. They also provided snacks which consisted of chips and granola bars as well as drinks that included water, juice and soda. I highly recommend the local juice they offer.
