I've been going to this place since the early 80s when they open and there is no better place in town

The inside is a small, highly decorated place. Got a sub here to go but it didn't taste all that amazing.

"Unique. Quality. Cheap." -- Captain Bill's Submarine If you're claustrophobic, I do not recommend lol it's a small place with a lot going on. ALOT lol But, I think it's a cool place. Definitely one of a kind, I've never been to a sandwich shop quite like this. There's just so much to look at! Very interesting stuff at that lol There was a Ronald McDonald doll hanging from a noose... A framed sign that read, "Post Card Pregnancy Test" with instructions listed below, and a sticker that read "Fight Racism." So, you gonna get the vibe here lol this place was definitely unique. As far as the quality, the sandwiches were very tasty, but there wasn't much meat on it, which is why I give it a 4 stars instead of 5. I thought they accidentally gave me a veggie sandwich until a piece of turkey fell out as I was taking a bite. But, everything was fresh, down to the bread and the fruit and veggies, which I loved! And, I liked how they didn't stuff the sandwich with lettuce, like you know who... Aside from not having a lot of meat in the sandwich, there was a nice balance between all of the other ingredients. Lastly, cheap. I ordered a turkey & cheese sub with chips and a pickle (whole, though I would've preferred it to be quartered), and that ran me about $7. It was definitely an affordable meal. You can make your sub a meal with 3 options. By adding a drink and chips $2.75; by adding a drink and macaroni salad or potato salad $3.50; or by adding a drink, chips, and macaroni salad or potato salad $5.00. This is a nice place to have lunch with friends and some family members depending on your parental controls lol Lastly, now that I think about it, it was pretty quiet on the inside when I went, I can't recall hearing any music. If the music was playing, it was low and not very noticeable. So, I'd love hear what type of genre/s this shop would play, especially seeing that this place is kinda cooky. But, I'll definitely be visiting again. read more

I decided to try this place based on a review by a fellow Yelper ( thanks Deni ) who gave it a good rating. Kind of a quirky and busy interior to this place but I do like that instead of cookie cutter interiors which are everywhere. The people working there were very pleasant and provided excellent service. I ordered the 9 inch club with potato salad and a drink. I wanted it prepared as they list it on the menu to experience what they consider a good sub. My to go order was ready quickly and handed over with a smile. The prices are very fair for the quality and quantity of the sandwich I enjoyed. The sandwich had ample fillings and the bread was soft and delicious. The potato salad was real good, I like cole slaw and potato salad so I tend to be a little judgemental about both. I got my money's worth and a delicious meal with good customer service that is a winning combination. read more

Always a great time. Had the window special - 5 inch Italian - with a drink. With tip, $5. You can't beat that with a baseball bat. It's the best place in town, and whenever I visit I always come here. Friendly staff, clean environment, delicious food. And, as always, the stickers. Lol. If you have never been here, this place is pop culture perfection. Strategically placed bumper stickers that might get you shot in traffic, decorate the walls. Such sentiments as "I sleep with my teddy bear, because I know where he's been", "my dog is smarter than your honor student", and my favorite "I'm not a gynecologist, but I'll take a look" . This has been a local favorite of mine since High school! In business since 1985 and it shows. Small unique indoor seating and benches outside. You can't help but feel nostalgic when entering the building, it's very different and has a lot of character. They are also one of the few places that haven't skyrocketed their prices plus they are super consistent. All great things. Honestly skip Egee's and head over to this local spot. Just went for the first time today after seeing some of the great reviews online! Truly a fantastic atmosphere very friendly staff as well. I was pressed between 2 and 3 stars for this review because I usually love getting lunch from this place several times a month, but today was pretty disappointing. Such a teeny tiny portion of soup that wasn't even half filled for $2.99 - it tasted ok, but seemed pricier than it needed to be. No problem - I just won't order it again. There was mustard on my sandwich, which is not called out on the menu (says it comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and Italian dressing - none of which were on the sandwich), and I did not order it on my chicken salad. The mustard was also all over the bag, and is now on some of my clothes because of it. Reedeeming points: the salt and pepper, slice of cheese and avocado that I ordered were on it, and it tasted pretty good - just mustard wasn't what I wanted or was expecting. I guess I will just have to be super specific when I do an online order. Every single time. We can't blame this on the GrubHub driver - he didn't make or bag the food. He just brought it to me. My only other problem I have had here was when I ordered a Beef and Bird, but it showed up with no roast beef on it, and it had jalapenos instead of the pepperoncinis I requested. Seriously - only these two times. The food is usually very tasty, and always nice and fresh. The staff is pretty friendly when you are in the shop, and the majority of the time I order via GrubHub, things are fine. Take it a little easy, please - your delivery customers are just as important as the ones who come into the shop. I can almost always give a 4 or 5 star review for your restaurant, just not today. All I can say is, this place is serving up fantastic sandwiches. Not only are the sandwiches deliciously fantastic but the prices can't be beat. On this visit I had the Genoa Salami, Pepperoni, Provolone Cheese, With, lettuce, tomato, special seasoning, mayo, and mustard and a side of potato salad. Having worked here I'm going to be completely biased. Kind of. By far one of the best sub places in the area. You get tasty food and extremely attractive high school/college girls feeding you. You know if you like that then you'll like it here. Some days the girls are rude and the sandwiches sloppy but trust me you'll just keep on coming back!!! Bumper stickers everywhere that piss most democrats off. Some republicans too lol. The bathroom sucks and depending on the girl's day/mood it's for employees only haha. This place is a gem and I'd defend it in a heartbeat. Not only because the food is good but because this place HAS a soul. You can just feel it when you walk in and I mean that for a majority of the customers and the girls.
