I had reached out with concerns about a chipped fin on the lower unit shortly after picking up the motor, and at first, I was told there was nothing that could be done because it was a used item sold "as is." That was disappointing, especially since the issue wasn't disclosed beforehand, and I had been told the unit would be serviced before pickup. But here's where things turned around. After I posted my initial review, the owner of the company personally reached out to me. He took the time to listen and understand what had happened. He even offered to drive up to Fort Worth to pick up the outboard and give me a full refund -- which I thought was incredibly generous and unexpected. I told him I wasn't interested in returning it after investing time and effort, but I appreciated the offer. Most importantly, he acknowledged my frustration and offered to cover the cost of the repair. That showed me he actually cared about my satisfaction and reputation as a business. I'm not going to send him a bill, but the gesture meant a lot. In the end, I left feeling heard, respected, and valued as a customer. If you're thinking of shopping with Captain Kirk's, I'd say: go for it. They do stand behind their name -- just make sure both you and the team are on the same page about the condition of the product, especially when buying used. Ask questions, get things in writing, and don't be afraid to speak up. Despite the bumps along the way, my final impression of this business is a good one. After posting my review, Troy Kirk, the owner's son contacted me and listened to my experience and complaints. He asked that I give him a chance to make it right. That was Monday. They called on today, Wednesday, and told me my boat was ready, instead of next week as I was initially informed. Brought my boat in for repairs from storm damage at marina on Lake Livingston. Boat sat there in Texas summer sun for three months waiting for parts. After multiple phone calls to answering machine with no return calls from service manager (the guy is a joke), finally was told I would have to come in and give a deposit before parts were ordered... this was after three months mind you. I went to Capt Kirk's with deposit, but after talking to service manager, I finally realized there was no way I could let these people work on my boat. The sad part, I bought this boat from them three years earlier new, and was not to happy with that process. My advice to anyone is stay away from doing business with this place, either buying a boat or getting service. read more

Update....Over a week after Capt. Kirks took delivery of my boat I get an email from the sales rep Cain who had not been returning my calls or emails and he tells me the hull of my boat has been damaged and it was damaged when it was dropped off. He never mentioned anything when the boat was dropped off that there was any damage. This is after sending countless emails, calls and texts, requesting the hull ID number of the boat, and advising them I want to come to Spring, Texas to pick up my boat on Saturday. He also tells me that I need to make an "appointment" to pick up my boat either on Friday 01/21/22 at 2:30 pm, Monday 1/24/22, or Tuesday 1/25/22. otherwise I will need to wait until after the 30th because it is boat show season. I have requested to speak with the owner several times and still have not been contacted, nor have I been given his contact info to get this resolved. This has been the worst experience dealing with any business of any kind bar none. read more

Captain Kirk's has messed up our boating plans again! They had our boat for several weeks for an overall tune up and repair so it would be ready for the summer. We brought it back to the lake, b cause they said it was good to go. Well, it was not good. It kept stopping in idle. So, we took it back in. (Our lake is 90 miles away). Oops, they didn't test it for everything. We picked it up to get it back to lake for the Fourth of July. They said it was good to go. We got in the boat with family and kids ready to ski and tube. The boat flooded out-Captain Kirk's forgot to put the plug in. So here we sit, draining the boat. No one gets to tube. This is frustrating. Seems that the details have been overlooked too many times. Had my boat in for repairs and they called to tell me it was not the carbs but a oil pressure unit. Ok no problem but when I get the boat home I noticed a clamp was missing off the fuel line where it attaches to the primer bulb. I called to ask if this was a new type of hose and did not need a clamp. They told me no it did need a clamp that they should have put one on. Ok. I had health issues and did not take the boat out for a while. Went to take off from the ramp and the low oil alarm went off. You would think that if someone works on anything to do with the oil system they would have checked the oil reservoir and filled it. No they did not. Also after taking the cowling off I find ANOTHER missing clamp or I should say missing zip tie. Posted on facebook and someone called me to ask for MY side of the STORY. Never apologized or said maybe a misunderstanding just wanted to hear my side of the story before talking to the mechanic. Well I guess the mechanic had a better STORY. No one has called me back. I also went to the boat show looking for a new mercury motor for my boat instead of buying a new boat. NEVER gave captain k a chance at selling me anything. I would not take a tricycle to them for repairs. read more
