Last August I purchased a $150 pair of Topo Athletic shoes from Shortt. The purchase and fitting experience were exemplary. I have worn them occasionally since then approximately once a week for exercise walking. Recently I noticed that both shoes were abrading a hole at the same location on the inside collar. A call to the manufacturer directed me to the dealer to resolve the problem. On my visit to Shortt I was directed to the manager. It was clear from our first interaction that Shortt would not make any effort to resolve the defect in the product. To add insult to injury, after confirming that the shoes had not been subject to excess wear, I was told that I was at fault in my manner of walking despite 70 years of not having a similar issue with any shoe. No relief was offered. While Shortt has a wealth of excellent apparel, shoes and accessories at premium prices, they clearly have no interest in standing behind their products or making any effort at customer service. This is a business that knows it can overcharge tourists who will never be around to seek a remedy for a faulty product. There are several other reputable shoe options in the Gorge and you should give them your business.

They don't just recommend shoes, they fit you for the pair that best meets your specific needs and fits you properly. For anyone who has suffers from foot or knee pain, you know how life changing a properly fitted pair of shoes can be! In addition to a robust shoe, sneaker, running shoe, hiking boot area, Shortt's has all of your camping needs covered. Tents, sleeping bags, outdoor cooking equipment, dehydrated food, small cook stoves and more. They carry every color and size Hydro Flask and totes and coolers, too. Jackets, rain gear, hats, caps, swimsuits, sunglasses, clothing, waterproof pants and tops, maps, books - they have it all. The only section that I wish was more robust is the swim section. I swim an hour a day and while they had a few swimsuits, goggles and swim caps, I was looking for a mesh bag to carry my swim fins, gloves and goggles. They had three TYR bags but they were super bright neon colors and I want something more subtle. This is a family run business and they are all about personal service and as a result, when the store is crowded it can be challenging to get assistance because those working there definitely give full attention to the person they are widening with. Received an invoice and an email from Oregon City Sporting Goods confirming my order. May 6th, I send an email to kurtb@ocsports.us as listed on the email in case I had any questions. I requested an update. No reply. May 9th, I call the business asking for an update on my order, and whoever it was I talked to didn't ask for an order number or anything. They just said that they just got a bunch of the orders in, and I would be receiving an email update within a couple days. Nothing. Today, May 27th, I once again called asking for an update. Told whoever I spoke to that the order was placed through Tualatin JBO. They told me all those orders were already delivered. Told them I placed this order on April 19th, and I could give them the order number if it would help. Their exact reply was, "Well the order number isn't gonna do me any good." They got a little flustered, then asked for my name and number and would get back to me later in the day. I called about 3pm. It's almost 930pm and no call back. Update 5/28 - Received word from someone from Tualatin JBO. The orders were received a week ago and will be distributed amongst the teams/families. Still would have appreciated SOME type of communication from OCSG.

When we made our way to the shoe department, the associates there were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to help. They answered our questions, helped us find the right size, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. It's refreshing to shop somewhere that values customer service and actually takes the time to acknowledge you. Of course, I couldn't leave without finding something for myself! I ended up grabbing a pair of Nike slides, and they've turned out to be one of my favorite purchases lately. They're unbelievably comfortable -- basically like wearing slippers -- and I find myself reaching for them every single day. I've never had problems in this store, ever, and I've always walked out a happy customer. The owner is super nice and all the employees are highly knowledgable about their services and products. They're always super enthusiastic about helping out and just have good vibes overall! As a Pacific athlete, I highly appreciate the fact that it's only walking distance from campus. So convenient!
