    multiple point inspection report

    I purchased a 3-year-old Kia from Capitol Kia on December 4, 2025, trusting their 'multi-point inspection' process. Less than 1,000 miles later, the car died in the middle of a busy road due to a complete battery failure. O'Reilly Auto Parts confirmed the battery had 'bad reserve capacity.' This was a terrifying safety hazard for me and my family. What is more disappointing is the lack of accountability. I have tried calling multiple times to speak with the Sales Manager, but they constantly make excuses and avoid the conversation. It is clear that their 'inspection' was either not done or done poorly. I am sharing this to warn the San Jose community: do not trust their inspection reports. I am still waiting for the General Manager to contact me to resolve this. I expect a full refund for the battery replacement I had to pay for out of pocket and a formal explanation. I will be reporting this to Kia America and the BBB if I do not hear back

    Unfortunately, my husband and I are on the hunt for another family car, but we know exactly what we want. We're looking for a 2020-2025 used Kia Telluride. Capital Kia had a green one we were interested in, so my husband called and got in contact with Juan. Once we set up an appointment, we headed over. The parking lot was PACKED. We had to drive around a couple of times just to find a spot. Since we were driving a rental van, it made things even harder with such a small parking area. Once we finally parked and walked in, we met Juan, who then handed us over to Jose. Jose showed us the vehicle, and honestly, we loved it. We ended up walking away because we still had other cars to look at. About an hour after we left, Michael called and asked if there was anything he could do to get us back to pick up the car. We had already seen other cars, but that one definitely stood out. We made our offer, and he said he would call us back--but he never did. We're still looking for a vehicle, but we never heard back, not even with a counteroffer. All in all, the service wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't outstanding. I'd give it 3 stars, mostly because of the parking issues.

    The Kia EVs have been getting a lot of positive reviews and in the pursuit of non-Tesla options...I visited here to check them out. The experience, from making the appointment to the actual visit and test drive, was extremely professional. I did not feel any unnecessary pressure or shadiness one might expect from car salespeople. I did not end up buying but left wiht respect for the firm and employees.

Both experiences were delightful, stress free (who would associate stress-free when you buy a car?) and quick. No hassle car buying - that should be his business's title. He helped us narrow down the list of cars we were looking at and make a decision that worked for us. He also scheduled all the test drives, negotiated the prices, and pointed us to a specific person at the dealership, a complete VIP experience. He did the same for our friends just this week, they bought a great car in a great condition, he negotiated the price down and steered them away from less desirable options. My friend was nervous (just like I was before ) because the process of buying a car is stressful. But after they got into the dealership and the car was waiting for them, they test drove and bought the car. My friend said: who would have thought that I can enjoy buying a car! I always had a fabulous relationship with my service advisor there, but when they closed I started going to the Infiniti on the corner of Tully and E. Capitol. It was fine, but quite inconvenient due to location. I needed my car serviced and thought it was time to change back to Stevens Creek. When I found out that Infiniti moved to the Capitol Auto Mall, I decided to give them one more shot. Thank goodness I did! My service advisor was (and hopefully will always be) Bryan Hather. He was able to not only figure out my car's issues, but make sure they were fixed. I never felt "up sold" and completely trusted him with my car and money. He is the reason I am staying with this company. Not only was he efficient, but interacting with him was enjoyable. Finally I felt seen as a person by a dealership and not just a walking credit card number. If you need a service advisor for your Infiniti, go with Bryan H.- you will not regret it! Also, please note that I believe two different Bryans work there, so go with Bryan Hather.

He got the keys for me and let me take it for a test drive. Upon return I decided to purchase the car. I had been looking EVERYWHERE for a affordable Honda Civic in good condition. We negotiated and agreed on a price and made the deal. I had a unique situation; I live in Stockton and had no way to get the car home that day. He allowed me to keep it on the lot until the next morning. Shane and his team are not stereotypical sleaze bag used car salesmen. Customer service and a welcoming atmosphere are a priority at The Car Store San Jose. They've been in business since '77 for a reason. But, in a market where cars are in high demand, supply is drastically low, and are selling for $10k+ over MSRP... thats as good as it gets. We were referred to Arkady through a friend. Hubby has a long history in retail sales, so the car buying experience has always been... eventful, as everyone knows. But now with 2 toddlers in tow, we weren't able to dedicate the months-long research, wheeling and dealing, and multiple dealership trips all over the Bay Area to get what we wanted. So we decided to give Arkady a try. We told Arkady what we wanted. SPECIFICALLY what we wanted. Down to the T. A brand new Platinum Highlander Hybrid in Pearly White. A special order color, in a very sought after trim level and combination. Arkady looked and found us a few, but we weren't ready yet. So we waited. And the aftermath of COVID was in full affect. The dreaded chip shortage. Dealer lots were empty, cars were being bought up like no other, and the market is now flooded with buyers willing to pay top dollar from a supply pool that would disappear with a sneeze. Unfortunately for us, we just couldn't afford to battle with ballers, so we waited, hoping Arkady could find us a deal. Luckily, Arkady was able to place us an order with the Toyota Factory for our specific car, in our specific trim. We waited a few weeks, putting our trust in Arkady, and we finally got the call. The vehicle had landed and was ready for us. Everything we wanted, as we had requested. Even in this market, he was able to get us below the MSRP, which is absolutely mind blowing. He promised, and delivered in spades. His cost of service is worth its weight in gold. The process was painless. He was prompt with his communication and was always straight forward. On delivery day, we met at his office and spent no more than 15 minutes doing paperwork.... to buy a car... that was tailor made to our specification.... at a deal we were more than happy with... We cannot emphasize at how valuable his services were to us, and our family thanks him greatly. Remember the kids? They didn't even have time to even THINK about throwing a tantrum before they were buckled up in the new car and we were on our way. Arkady runs a no-joke, no-frills, get-it-done business. In the last six months, I've purchased both a 2026 Tucson Hybrid Limited and a 2026 Ioniq 5 Limited here. Stephen Fitch was an exceptional sales consultant. As a 74-year-old who has purchased over 35 vehicles, I've seen every dealership trick in the book. Stephen was a breath of fresh air--patient, knowledgeable, and zero-pressure. I especially appreciated that there were no 'required' add-ons like paint sealant or fabric protection marked up over the MSRP. I was able to negotiate fairly, utilize dealer incentives, and secure Hyundai rebates that saved me significant money. Danielle Torres made the paperwork a breeze. She presented warranty and service options informatively, but remained professional and pleasant when I declined. A huge plus: she scanned everything and sent it as a PDF rather than handing me a heavy stack of paper--perfect for my electronic filing system. Before I drove off, Stephen took the time to ensure I was comfortable with the high-tech features of my new EVs. The dealership is spotless, well-managed, and the detailing team did a superb job.     I've been meaning to write this review for awhile now…read more 2011 Hyundai Elantra. We had issues with the car in 2021 (within the 10 year warranty). The car was shaking, so we brought it to Capitol Hyundai. They replaced some coils under warranty. Next year (outside warranty), the same issue. They said we needed a new engine ($8k). I'm no detective, but that sounds like they put a bandaid on it that lasted long enough to make sure it went past the warranty period. Why ever buy a Hyundai again if the local dealership does shady things so they don't have to honor the warranty. What's a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty worth if it's not honored. We were already in the market for a new car at the time...an Elantra Hyundai. Good price and lots of features. So they made $8k in the very short term. Lost out on $25k+ in the near term. Lost out on all future maintenance and repairs. All that money went to Toyota Sunnyvale instead. Currently, we've been looking at new vehicles to replace a 2014 Mazda, so they lost out on $40k+ and the subsequent maintenance and repairs. Yeah, we're those people who go to the dealerships for maintenance despite the high prices because of peace of mind. The only way we'd ever entertain buying Hyundai again is if they refunded us back the $8k and the money we spent on a rental car while waiting for the engine replacement to be installed.
