Best dentist in DC. Dr. Dubey really cares and she knows what she is doing. Couldn't recommend more.

Worst experience ever. I had an appt in 10 days to have 3 teeth extracted under general anesthesia…read more I knew appt might just be a consultation but was told to prepare for surgery: Submit online forms that did not work, submit credit card info (wasn't charged), arrange transportation, don't eat/drink before, etc. Morning before asst. I was speaking with asst for final instructions and then front office called and said entire office was closing down FOREVER tomorrow (day of appt), it was doctors last day and my condition was too complicated so they canceled! I rescheduled somewhere else -- they were efficient and did procedure with local anesthesia in 20 minutes.

This is quite an upscale facility with upscale pricing. Dr. Rostami was very professional, and my…read morerecovery was surprisingly fast with no issues whatsoever. I took off a star because I noticed additional charges added to my bill, which I found simply dishonest. I was going to be under full anesthesia, so just from curiosity I looked at the watch before we started. Procedure took exactly 28minutes, yet the charges with insurance that I've noticed later at home, showed three instances of 15 minutes for anesthesia, which would make the whole procedure longer than 45 minutes (considering preparing ect) Another issue that didn't sit well with me was that I paid for everything immediately after the procedure. We had all the charges itemized, calculated, and confirmed with the insurance. Typically, these amounts are slightly higher than the actual cost, and one usually receives a small refund afterward. However, in this case, about six months later, I received an additional bill stating that I owed nearly $200 more. I attempted to call for clarification, but either the call was dropped or the explanation was so unclear and crude, as if I were dumb having consideration for own money. So, while my health turned out fine, I won't be returning.

I finally decided that this was my year, and put lots of money in my FSA just so I would use it before the year was over. Dr. Merlo was recommended by my new dentist, and knowing about my 4 impacted (2 horizontal) wisdom teeth, I wanted someone with lots of experience. From the consultation to the actual surgery day, he was always calm, direct, no nonsense... which is exactly what I needed. As an extremely nervous person (And this was my first surgery), his attitude was exactly what helped. My surgery was perfect - waited 10 minutes to finalize paperwork and billing (good price too!), then quick set up. I went under in less than 20 seconds (I also was already sleepy) and by the time I woke up, we were done and ready to move me to a recovery room. I didn't have any nausea or dizziness, just the usual bleeding and pain that you would expected for a surgery. I've been resting at home and enjoying the downtime catching up on my new favorite show - bleeding has stop, swelling is minimal, and i'm a bit uncomfortable but not in pain. As a nervous patient, that says a lot! The only not-so-great thing about my experience was the front office - they didn't return my email asking for a consultation so I had to call them, and they didn't get my Xray from the dentist's office despite having 3 weeks to do so before my consultation. It was all square away quickly - but make sure to request the xray yourself to save time. Highly recommend and finger crossed for a speedy recovery!

I asked questions that went unanswered by him (he literally ignored me); however, the other staff was kind which is why there are two stars, not one. I would not recommend ANYONE to see this doctor. He has an awful attitude and should really consider working on how to effectively communicate with patients.

Man, these reviews aren't kidding when they say stay away from this doctor. I needed my wisdom…read moreteeth extracted and since that was it, I figured it didn't matter that Dr. Gitelman was said not to be a friendly, warm-and-fuzzy doctor. Well, that bit me in the butt! Long story short, I had dry sockets after my surgery. The take home instructions that the office provides says that dry sockets are common and to only call the doctor with emergencies. I even had my husband look at the instructions and he agreed that I shouldn't call. I endured the intense pain and had to take 2 days off work, and then I called the office. They had me come in and they gave me a remedy that fixed the problem right away. Now where dr gitelman was a real jerk- I had to have him sign a form for FMLA leave for my work and HE REFUSED TO SIGN IT. He wrote on the form "if the patient had called, they wouldn't have needed the time off". Really? I tried to get dr gitelman to understand. I wrote a pretty eloquent and polite letter explaining that I respect that he won't just sign off on just anything but the take home instructions were very misleading and that's the only reason I didn't call. He still refused to sign it. Luckily my job realized the absurdity of this doctor and granted me the leave anyway but for all you folks out there, don't underestimate the importance of a caring doctor even if it's for a one-and-done procedure like wisdom tooth extraction!!!

However, from the moment I walked into the office I was warmly greeted (lovely front desk staff). I was scheduled for a consultation to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out, but I thought one was infected so I wanted that checked out too. Dr. Gitelman told me that I was in pain from that tooth because it was rubbing against the side of my mouth, and that it could easily be fixed by extracting it. I assumed that would happen whenever I would make the appointment for my surgery. However, he told me he could just take it out while I was there. I was nervous, but both Dr. Gitelman and the nurse(?) were so informative and reassuring that the process would be painless and quick. Literally 5 minutes later I was out of the office. I am extremely pleased with my visit and would recommend Dr. Gitelman.

I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe during the procedure and I was wondering if he was going to drill out my tooth then leave me hanging because of his temper. While I don't expect him to kiss my behind the entire procedure, I do expect him to listen when I'm in pain and at the very least NOT show such obvious annoyance and disdain after I just paid him $750+. So 0/10 won't be going to him or recommending him to anyone. I'd say avoid unless you like having your money taken and being made to feel uncomfortable and mildly tortured. Office staff was very friendly, felt like they were being overly nice cuz they knew how rude their boss was.

I was charged a $25 fee for personal protective equipment (PPE), which was disappointing since I hadn't incurred this fee at other medical or dental offices. Additionally, the fee had not been disclosed to me prior to my appointment. As I sized up the office, I noticed Washingtonian Top Doctor plaques for two of the other doctors in the practice and none for Dr. Davis. An assistant escorted me to an examination room after about ten minutes and she took an x-ray of my cracked tooth. Dr. Davis entered the room a short while later and glanced at the x-ray. He told me the tooth had vertical and horizontal fractures and that I needed a root canal. I was befuddled by this since none of the things he mentioned were visible to me on the x-ray. He immediately started prepping for the root canal by putting on a pair of blue disposable gloves (presumably the PPE I had just paid $25 for). I was not convinced that I needed this procedure, so I started asking him questions about why a root canal was needed, what was involved in the procedure, how much pain would be involved etc. He trivialized the procedure, making it seem like it was a routine thing, while I became increasingly nervous and uncomfortable. At one point, he asked me if I was a "scaredy cat" and I admitted that I was very uncomfortable and I got up to leave. As I exited the room, Dr. Davis removed his gloves and threw them in the garbage in frustration. Clearly he was banking on me undergoing an unnecessary and costly procedure. I left the practice very unhappy with the experience and distrustful of this practice and Dr. Davis.

I have been here a few times, and it was fine enough on my previous visits for me to return. I had a root canal a few years ago and it was... a root canal. No problems and seems to have been fine. But now when I have the misfortune of seeking out an endodontist, I will go elsewhere. I had a questionable tooth: might need a root canal, might need retreatment. I paid $600 for an appointment (with Dr Brian Davis) that got me no closer to an answer on what I should do. My options were half-heartedly explained to me after an exam, with my face numb, in the waiting room with other patients walking in and out. No one ever followed up. This might just be bad luck, but my mouth was more sore after that exam than it was after my actual root canal a week later (in a different office). I wound up driving to see two other dental specialists in the suburbs. By contrast, they each fully explained the options, taking time to walk me though it, in a room sitting down, pointing at x-rays. Neither of them charged me $600 for the consult.
