Not surprisingly the issues continue. 9 months after my procedure I start receiving text messages and mail saying I owe $190 from my "recent procedure". I had already recieved statements months ago from my insurance and Elite Dentistry showing I dont owe $190 dollars. In fact, comparing the two statements shows the Elite Dentistry owes me. I called the office and presented the facts. The representative immediately began back peddling. Based on everything I have experience I have no reason to believe this wasnt a money grab. Great experience here. Staff is very friendly and professional. They took the time to explain to me everything regarding my check-up, as well as the details regarding my insurance payments. While they do provide additional services, I did not get the feeling that they were trying to aggressively "upsell" me, but rather explaining the full range of options for better dental health. read more

Dr. Berman and her staff are wonderful. I called with an emergency crown situation and they saw me the same day. This was during the COVID situation so I was very appreciative, knowing they could be shut down any day. The staff here are pleasant, competent, and highly professional. But unfortunately, as is common with most healthcare providers these days, there is a tendency to push expensive procedures rather than focusing on good old fashioned regular dental care. As a result, the prophylactic care gets short shrift. They push you into orthodontic care and buying expensive electric toothbrushes, only stocking the most expensive versions. Two terrible appointments, will never go back. I got a general check up and then 2 fillings. Their number one goal is to sell you cosmetic dentistry. My teeth are 99% straight, have never needed braces, and I have never in my life had a dentist (as the dentist did at Washington Elite) tell me that my minimal gum recession would be fixed with Invisalign, but that is what she did and trying to sell me Invisalign was one of her first comments upon meeting me. They did the same thing to my friend who went here. They charged me for a procedure they never did and I had to go into the office 3 different times before they finally took it off my bill. They charge you ahead of time for what procedures they THINK they will administer and then they don't alter the bill based on what they ACTUALLY did to your teeth. I could have easily overlooked this and I wonder how many other patients they have overcharged who have no idea they were charged for a service they never received. Based on those situations I would advise you to avoid Washington Elite. But don't worry here are some additional reasons: During my first appointment, the xray machine wasn't working, but instead of sending me to another machine right away or asking me to come back later, they spent 30 minutes trying to "fix" the problem with the machine/computer. On my second appointment (fillings) the dental assistant had absolutely zero idea of what she was doing. She didn't even know how to hold the water/suction tools. Was I her first patient? The dentist was clearly very frustrated with her and the whole experience was awkward and disconcerting to say the least. I questioned whether my fillings were being done properly, since I had to wait around for the setting light as it was out of batteries (it's supposed to be set right away) and the assistant had to be told what to do and how to do it every step of the way. If you want to use me to train someone, please ask ahead of time, and maybe do it on a normal cleaning rather than for fillings. I am well into adulthood and have been to many dentists and this was far and away the worst dental office I have ever been to. There are too many competent and honest dentists out there to bother wasting your time at Washington Elite Dentistry. read more

Literally the worst dentist that I've ever been to. I couldn't be more upset with a dentist - and I'm a very level-headed professional woman. I sent my significant other here based 100% on location. He's a busy executive and it is directly across from Metro Center. They recommended Invisalign because he had 1 tooth that was chipped (other teeth were good) and they told him the $3k treatment came with teeth whitening. Just before he finished his 9 month treatment, I came in for my first annual exam. I have almost perfect teeth (bases for 6 years). The hygienist was terrible and barely cleaned my teeth. They recommended teeth whitening at a "special price" of $599 and $300 of other random treatments. I refused. 2 days later, he finished his Invisalign, and did his "free teeth whitening" came to a "special price" of $599. Not the included price previously mentioned. My appointment was a week ago and I still don't know if I have any cavities, need fillings, etc. Literally the worst dentist I have been to. read more

Not so positive. The dentist was professional and courteous, but charged me over $100 to tell me I needed oral surgery and several thousands of $ in a root canal. I went to another dentist and had the tooth fixed for $1,000. ... No mention of oral surgery or root canal. 3 months later the tooth is doing fine. ... Time will tell. read more

This is the best dentist I have ever been too. From the time you walk in the office until the time you leave you are treated like royalty. I was afraid to go to the dentist because of so many bad experiences. This place has changed my thought of a dental office. I was hugely (and repeatedly) disappointed by this dental practice. The office is beautiful, however the staggering incompetence of their front desk staff and their constant need to push expensive products/procedures on you makes each visit an awkward and expensive nightmare. I was wildly misquoted prices after they reviewed my insurance and then they told me that I had "misremembered". They also kept insisting that I make follow-up appointments but then their staff would call and cancel, which would then be followed up with passive aggressive emails about how I needed to come in if I valued my dental hygiene. The only positive is Terri who is an incredible dental hygienist. It's too bad that although she gave me the best pain-free cleaning I've ever had that I can't face the front office staff or the doctors to return. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Washington Elite Dentistry. This office was recommended to me by a friend. It was my first visit to a dentist in over two years (took a while to make the change after relocating to DC). Terri, the hygienist, was INCREDIBLE. So friendly and she took the time to show me the few problem areas I had with my teeth with two different mirrors and the photos that were taken. This is really nice considering a lot of people have had experience with dentists just drilling holes in their teeth because they "say" you have a cavity. They actually took the time to show me and made sure I saw what was going on. My time with Dr. Berman was short but very complete. The front office staff was very nice and they took the time to show me my different options. They had a complete workup of what my insurance would cover and what I would have to cover. I have a follow-up appointment this coming week to get my cavities filled. If all goes well, I'll likely bump this rating up to a 5 star! read more

I've been coming to Washington Elite Dentistry for years. They're absolutely wonderful. This was my first appointment since the pandemic and they were so great. I felt very safe there, and it seemed like they were doing everything possible to keep the staff safe as well. The staff wiped everything down between patients, took your temperature, gave you booties for your shoes, the staff were all wearing gowns and masks. I would definitely recommend them if you're looking for a dentist. read more

Pros: Convenient, takes my insurance, up to date office Cons: Overcharged, recommended a lot of unnecessary work I went to see Dr. Berman for the first time, after seeing a dentist in Bethesda for years. Having needed only cleanings before, I was startled to discover that she recommended: * Two crowns * Two new composite (tooth-colored) fillings (even though the fillings were on molars no one was going to see) * Scaling and root planing * Gingival irrigation * Laser bacterial reduction therapy Total cost over $3,200, of which only about $800 was covered by insurance. And while I wouldn't mind paying this if it were needed, I wanted to make sure that it really was. I decided to do two things to make sure. First, I requested a pretreatment estimate from my dental insurer. Second, I requested a second opinion from another dentist. (Her office tried to talk me into having the second opinion from another dentist in that same office, but I refused.) The pretreatment estimate indicated that the insurer would not approve the following, because it did not consider them medically necessary: * Gingival irrigation * Laser bacterial reduction therapy The insurer also said they would pay for amalgam (metal) fillings, but not composite fillings, on molars. When I went for the second opinion (to a dentist recommended by three different friends), the other dentist told me that I did need the scaling and root planing. However, I needed only one crown, not two, and only one filling, not two. And I didn't need the gingival irrigation or laser bacterial reduction therapy. The net result was to reduce the total bill from about $3,200 to about $2,000, while the insurance reimbursement remained at $800. And more importantly, it meant that I would not be subjected to a bunch of unnecessary work. Just to add to the issues, her office overcharged me for the visit I'd already had (based on the explanation of benefits I received from the insurance company). And when I complained, I was told that I could get the money back a) only after they received payment from my insurer, and b) only in the form of a check, not a credit to the card I had used. So they took money they shouldn't have, won't give it back right now, and will make me go through the nuisance of a check deposit rather than just having the money credited when they eventually give it back. I saw Dr. Mayer and left very happy. When I arrived, staff showed me around the office and explained everything. The hygienist (I think Calvin was his name) taking my x rays explained everything to me in detail and was very friendly. Dr. Mayer answered all of my questions happily and was genuinely concerned about my tooth pain. I plan on going back soon for a cleaning. I highly recommend this friendly office! read more

I was afraid to go to the dentist, in part because of bad experiences in the past, so I put it off longer than I should have. This office was exactly where I needed to go. They are kind and discrete, and above all, outstanding professionals. Dr. Berman is extremely skilled and knowledgeable, and she keeps up with new developments and technology. Her entire staff are excellent, with very high standards of care and professionalism. They offer additional services and the latest technology, but her focus is always on what is best for the patient and what the patient needs and wants, while being mindful of costs. She will design a treatment plan that best fits your insurance coverage and other resources, in order to best manage your out of pocket costs without sacrificing care and needs. I've been there many times, and there is never any pressure or "up-selling." Their primary focus is health and dental hygiene and making the patient comfortable, but they can provide services beyond basic standards of health and hygiene (whitening, aligners, comfort care, etc.). I've never been a fan of going to the dentist. In fact, at times I've been down right frightened of all of the procedures and possible pain. I made an appointment with Terri and Dr. Berman, and it was the best decision I've ever made for my teeth! Yeah! A dentist with shiny offices close to my work. Top notch equipment, and good chairside manner. Then the clues: sit down and a TV monitor is constantly in your face spewing vanity and pushing cosmetic dentistry. I let myself slip and forgot a deep seated knowledge (from my late dentist brother in Seattle) "only allow needed work, not extra stuff on perfectly good teeth", and the disappointment began. I came in with a cracked crown that clearly needed replacement. I let myself be persuaded that the crown next door needed to be replaced as well. Nothing wrong with it...but it would improve my bite with the teeth below. OK...I'll think about it. But when the drilling began, I realized too late that Dr, B. was drilling away both crowns. And she had a heck of a time because they were good quality, well-installed pieces. One had to go, but not both. The new crowns took an inordinately long time (three weeks plus) to arrive. The fragile temporaries broke twice. When the new crowns came, Dr. B was muttering that one might have to be redone...but somehow it became OK, she glued that sucker in anyway. Of course, the problem involved the replacement for the crown that had been needlessly whittled out. It took two follow-up visits and a significant amount of grinding off of the new crown and abrading its side to get back to feeling somewhat normal. Shortly thereafter I went for the regular cleaning I was due for before the crown broke. The hygienist had to clean out leftover adhesive from the last job, sloppily left behind. As if all that wasn't enough, my insurance company sent the rundown, and among the accepted claims for the two crowns was the rejection of the dentist's claim for two gingivectomies (gum surgery). Good thing the insurance company rejected the claims - the work of course was totally made up. When I asked about it with the staff, they could have passed it off as a coding error. But instead, I was clearly told "that's what the doctor told us", and the office manager called later and actually tried to tell me the laser-surgery gingivectomies had been performed. Gosh you'd think I would have known that. Then a team member let slip that I had hundreds of dollars of credit for overpayment being held against possible future charges. When might I have been told? No statement had ever been mailed. Before I left, the doctor made sure she had me on the books for my next cleaning in six months. I tried to evade...because I know I will never go back there. The single good thing is that my overpayment refund arrived in the mail today, freeing me to write this review. Between overselling, rushed sloppiness, and unacceptable insurance claim ethics, this place gets an "F". read more

The facility is clean, classy, and state-of-the-art. The care was kind and helpful, sensitive and did their best to make sure that I was as comfortable as possible. They even took photos of my teeth and showed me what they saw! They were upfront about any additional costs that weren't covered by my insurance and left it to me to make an educated decision. They have many additional services if you want to purchase state-of-the-art care, but many of their high-tech devices are covered by basic insurance. Definitely a dentist office that's super easily accessible by metro. It's right at Metro Center. I chose it because I work in the same building and it accepts my insurance. I got an appointment right away, the check in/first-time patient questionnaire went smoothly. Everyone was nice and explained what was going on. Thorough cleaning was provided and while I was there they even cleaned my Invisalign for me (although I get this treatment from a different orthodontist). A clear treatment plan was provided with information on estimated costs and priorities. While I have not started treatment yet, I appreciated the straight forwardness. read more

This office takes care of you. Dr. Berman and her staff are professional, courteous, and friendly. They have 8:00 AM appts for those that have to make it in the office by 9 or 9:30, and they do their best to get you out in time. I felt very informed on my dental health after leaving the office and know my teeth are in good hands! Terri was a wonderful hygienist and made me feel comfortable while in the chair. If you need any work done or are considering Invisalign, their financial staff person prints out quotes for you to take home and review so you know what you're getting into. However, her billing department is Terrible and they often make mistakes. Once a random person was billed to my account. Her front office doesn't really inform you of what's going on and why there are credits/debits to your account.
