He claimed he was creating my estimate. FOR ONE HOUR. Estimate was very high. I requested management call me to discuss. Had them install 2 furnaces and 2 tankless hot water tanks about 5 years ago in our duplex. They did not clean up after themselves and left pipe cuttings/dust all over the floor. They also did not remove the old hot water tank that they agreed to remove prior to installing the new ones. Fast forward 5 years. We wanted the tankless hot water heaters delimed and flushed as they are expensive to replace. We were hesitant to call Capital Heat again, but figured they could flush the units they installed. The tech arrived and questioned me why there was no ports installed on the units to flush through. After about a 40min phone call with a manager, it was determined that THESE units didnt need to be flushed ( I had done my own research prior to contacting them and found from the manufacturer that they DO need to be flushed) which is not true. They just didnt install flush valves when they put in the water heaters. They charged me 149$ for doing nothing other than confirming what we already knew. Capital installed my Generac system about 8 yrs ago. I have used them exclusively for service. I have had them take care of routine maintenance and service. In May the generator wound start and quit. When I called I was told earliest appointment for service was 2 weeks out. The tech came out and determined it was a dead battery. He didn't have a battery on the truck so he would have to come back when they had a battery. That visit was $162 on 6/12/23. He returned on 6/16/23 and installed the battery. When he started it the issue was not resolved. The same thing happened. It would start and then quit. He worked on it and said it needed a soft touch update. Finally it started and kept running. I have not checked to see if it runs its weekly test cycle but I noticed this afternoon that the red indicator light is on. By the way that second visit necessitated because he didn't have a battery on the truck cost me $282 with the same original issue not resolved. Did it really need a new battery since the unit performed the same on the new battery as it had with the "dead" battery??? Felt like they were dishonest. Told me I would need a new a/c @ $3-5k, so I got a second opinion and the other place fixed it in 10min for just $75! Also when the guy looked at my a/c, he used adhesive to seal the PVC pipe after looking at it.... When the 2nd opinion guy saw it, he said that should not have been done! The customer service with this company is nonexistent. I've been a customer with this company for over 13 years, however that doesn't matter to them. Having an established appointment scheduled at least a week and a half in advance and on the day of the appointment there was no call and no show by the technicians. I was told two technicians were needed to complete the work on my AC unit when my appointment was scheduled (which they installed) and the day of the appointment they were scheduled to arrive between 12-3. I called the company around 1:30 because the technicians were not present and they did not call. The company confirmed I was still on the schedule and the technicians were backed up from the morning. No technicians showed up and no one from the company, not the technicians or the office staff called to offer an explanation. When I called the office at 3:45 ( which was after the 12-3 time frame) to tell them I had to reschedule as I had other appointments I was told I would receive a phone call back by the end of the day to reschedule. No phone call from the company to reschedule. As a customer I should not have had to call the company at 3:45pm to request to be rescheduled as they should have shown up or called me as a courtesy to reschedule. The company's blatant disregard for their customers should cause pause for someone to purchase any products from them as they are not reliable. Customers who are spending their money regardless of the amount should be treated with respect and should at least have a phone call if the company was unable to make the scheduled appointment but to ignore a customer as if they do not matter is where the concern is. No customer should be subjected to mistreatment from a company especially a company who prides themselves on being in the area for 50 years and have to worry about the reliability of their customer service/repairs on their products. I would not recommend this company to anyone as their customer service is not adequate. 06/17/2020: to provide an update the company was able to correct the situation and have technicians come today (the next day). The technicians were very friendly and removed their boots when they had to walk in the house multiple times. They also offered a discount for the missed appointment the previous day. Considering the fact the company corrected the problem the next day showed how they value their customers. My Previously Purchased (9 1/2 years old) Luxair Air conditioner from Capital Product Failed. Called for Service, Although I understand that July is a busy time period for Air Conditioning failing, having an appointment 1 week out seems unacceptable. As an aside, The Service call pricing is also not competitive. I called a competitor and they resolved my problem the same day and made a new customer. I cancelled my appointment at Capital today. If I could leave zero stars I would. I had a new furnace and central air installed along with combining 2 sets of ductwork. My house used to be a double unit with 2 furnaces. They assured me they could do the job and it would be no problem. The initial ac they installed was "undersized" and they had to come back and replace with a bigger one. We had little to no air coming out of multiple vents in 2nd story. They came out to "balance" ductwork many times and I still have the same problem. This job was also done with a NYSERDA grant. They are taking state money and peoples hard earned money and doing a terrible job. I offered to pay for them to come fix problem(my labor warranty is up) and I was informed " as per management they will no longer do service calls at my address". Well so much for my parts warranty. This company was unsuccessful with a HVAC install . The employees were very unknowledgeable. multiple appts with the company were made to "try" and fix the issue. Issue was never reaching the target temp. Every time they would come out to test the unit they would be satisfied with their readings and nothing about the home owners comfort. So I bought my grandmothers house a while back. She was on a "service plan" with Capitol Heat paying an annual bill to them for 6 years for over over a hundred bucks each time. The the furnace conks out, 7 years old under an annual service plan. I called to have them come out and look, 135 bucks for being an emergency call. OK fair enough, guy says the ports seem blocked. I ask what would cause that? "maybe dog hair or lint build up", I ask about the furnace filter, he has no idea where it was. This is a trained professional mind you. He tells me I need a new furnace and the exchanger is cracked, cant even rig it up to get heat that night. OK break out space heaters to keep us at 55 in the house. So I go down into the crawl space to check it out. The entire filter failed and was sucked into the upper part of the actual furnace box and had clogged the air path. The date on the filter, 3 years old. When I called to ask for an explanation, I was told by the office lady, who was very nice to me, that it was not something they could help with, meaning no warranty. They put it in, they didn't change the damn filter for 3 years, and now its all on me. OK, I happen to be in construction, so I got a new furnace from IRR supply and put the damn thing in myself. They wanted 4k for a new furnace, the cost of the furnace with new piping and duct adapters was less than 1500.00. I promise you as someone who worked in the field no tech is making over 50 an hour unless he is a supervisor, so I wonder where the other 2500.00 goes? I was offered a 10% off for the install, as my Grandparents had used them for the furnace and a/c unit, plus years of service fees. Thanks but you can sod off. Most places will upcharge you, it's part of life. I accept that, but when your shown the evidence of neglect and take money from folks on a fixed income for years without doing a damn thing, then have the audacity to offer 10% off for a new install? You're dead to me. Please folks get 3 quotes and check reviews, or at least ask your family, and friends what companies will treat you right. read more

Capital installed a new HVAC system in our 1836 stone house. They were excellent installers/technicians! The guys went out of their way to contain the mess, explained things as they went and were very polite & courteous. They had some unusual challenges in a house of this vintage but we could not have asked for better installers. The Lennox system seems to be very efficient and both the heat and air have been needed this season. We were very pleased with Capital. read more

I have been a loyal customer to Capital for over 20 years. We made a purchase of a new heating and cooling system in 2010. We have had a problem with our new unit at the beginning of every new cooling season. I have been trying to get it fixed so this does not happen. Every time someone ones out the technician has to be paid their labor. I was so excited that there was a class suit that described what was happening every year. When I called to set up an appointment and tell them I was so glad that the problem had been identified. Instead of being helpful they told me that I did not know if it was a problem. . They could not assure me that it was a problem. I completed all of the paper work for the suit, but I would like the unit to work. I scheduled someone to fill the freon until the suit would be settled . The first repair call could not happen if the weather wasn't warmer. They told us to reschedule. I rescheduled and they were scheduled for 3-6. My daughter had a banquet and no one contacted us until 7. I can't talk to anyone other than the office manager. Who actually told me that the system was 7 years old and what did I expect. I also told them that they were informed about the issue in 2015. Do not use this company they are not service oriented. Very poor installation. Had water leaking/dripping out of the unit on the floor right after work was done. My AC is in a laundry room closet behind my living room wall. So, it's not that the issue is in a basement. It's in my house on the first floor. Called for service and was told "tried to fix it but best I can do..hosing not connected right..I don't know". Very disappointed as I had trusted this company to do good work, and I had other estimates. The installers should have seen the problem ..but left it that way! Well, now they have my money!
