When we arrived, there was an enormous line and a large crowd of people waiting for their order. This build up quite the anticipation. We ordered the Dubai chocolate parfait. When I picked up the order, I could see various different toppings and chocolate + raspberry froyo. Everything together tasted amazing and was just the right amount of sweetness, tartness, and crunch. We cleaned the entire parfait in minutes. Usually we come to Krave Kulture during the day but this was the first time we came later in the evening. I think it was sometime past 8pm when we arrived. Big, long lineup. Very popular place. We decided to sit in the car for awhile and see if the lineup might die down. Every few minutes I came out, and still saw people lined up. After coming out to check about 2 or 3 times, I realized that a lot of the people in front had gone in, ordered and come out with their orders but that the line was still long because new people kept arriving and joining the line. Wow...I mean, we love this place of course and I guess it should be no surprise that this place is popular since we ourselves love this place so much, but we never knew just how popular this place had become. When we first started coming here a few years ago, it was easier to get in. Seems the lineups have grown. Anyways, we decided to finally just join the line instead of waiting in the car for it to dwindle cuz that really wasn't working out for us. Got to the front, ordered a large Vanilla/Chocolate twist with unlimited toppings. Happy, happy, happy. For quite awhile I was in one of those "So close, yet so far" situations. After scanning the menu my eye landed on something called Hangeul Combo which consisted of Gochujang Hot Chocolate and Korean Hangeul cookies. I had not idea what Hangeul cookies were but Gochujang hot chocolate sounded intriguing to me so I decided to be adventurous and try something new. The Gochujang Hot chocolate was really interesting. I could feel a burning sensation in my throat when I drank it. The cookies were prepackaged and there was Korean writing on the wrapper. I used Google Translate on it, and Google Translate told me the there "Might" be stuff like pork, chicken, beef in the cookies. As I'm Pescatarian, I decided not to take the risk and gave the cookies to someone else later in the day. That's what I get for being adventurous. Glad I tried the Gochujang Hot Chocolate as it was a very interesting flavor but the whole combo really wasn't worth it to me. I felt slightly ripped off. Even if I'd eaten the Hangeul cookies, or if the Gochujang Hot Chocolate had been sold separately without cookies...the amount of Hot Chocolate that was in my little cup was a very sad amount. I really think they could have filled my cup higher, and it really wasn't a very large cup to begin with. They do have a lot of other interesting food items in this place, so...despite the fact that I had a less than ideal experience, I'd still be willing to give this place a try. Usually I order some kind of Spinach Feta, or Spinach Ricotta croissant sandwich but they had this A la Capresse Sandwich instead, and I was happy to try something new. The A la Capresse was delicious. I hope they keep it around cuz I think I like it better than the one with Spinach in it. Both versions have some kind of cheese in it but I think the pickled tomatoes somehow feel fresher and lighter in my stomach than the spinach.

It was like a hard lump of sorbet that we needed to really mash up with our spoons in order to be able to scoop it up. Thankfully this time, it was a hot summer day so my body was much happier with this frozen acai than it had been on our previous visit to this location of Kokomo. My daughter ordered some kind of Cherry soda drink and I ordered a London Fog made with Macadamia Milk. I was trying to be adventurous by choosing the Macadamia Milk but having tried it, I have a feeling I'd have been better off sticking with tried and true Oat Milk as I wasn't too crazy about my drink with the Macadamia milk in it. Twice now that we've been to this location and had hard, frozen acai in our acai bowls instead of the softer, easier to scoop acai that we've had in other places including the Kitsilano branch of Kokomo. I'd imagine that the Hornby shop also sees a ton more foot traffic and that, too, could make for a less relaxed atmosphere. I came for the smoothies, but for the vitamin/supplement head, this store would seem to have all you need. (If not, then there's a competing health food store just down the road & across the street.) Visitors from Vancouver: take the bus from the ferry terminal straight up the hill, or, if you're feeling particularly spunky, walk!
