He was great, he didn't cut too much hair off and really spent time working on my hair (I have long thick hair so it took a long time but he was patient). Trinh is the only stylist I've ever had who believed me when I said I wanted a low- to no-maintenance cut for my textured, tho not curly hair. I also told her I didn't want to color my grey/dirty blond hair bc I didn't want to be roped into perpetual re-coloring. With the understanding that I wd do virtually no styling at home and probably wdnt come back for another year, she went to work. She gave me a haircut I love and convinced me she cd do highlights that would not be noticeable as coloring. I can't tell you how many times I've been told my hair color is great and asked whether it was natural. I almost forget it's not. After a lengthy 10 yr relationship with my babyliss flatiron, I decided it was time to break up and embrace my natural curls. I went to my stylist to cut off my heat damaged ends so my curls could bounce back. Well, I ended up with the dreaded pyramid cut. Another great haircut with Trinh. Not only is she a great stylist but she is so generous with her educating you with just how the products work. I used to use Deva Curl product years ago and never found them to be terribly helpful with my curly , fine, frizz hair. The reason was I was using the wrong "line" of Deva or "my" hair and using them incorrectly to boot! I only need 4 haircuts a year now - vs. almost every 6 weeks with a traditional stylist. Mario, Trinh and the whole crew at Capelli Salon are the best. Mario's cuts are by the far the best hair cuts I've ever had. I have difficult curly hair -- inconsistent, the bangs don't curl quite as much as the rest of the hair or the same way, the hair is thin but there's a lot of curl -- and Mario's cuts give me a consistency great look. Not just the day after the cut, but a month later. His cuts grow out well and in shape! Trinh does my color, and she is really good: the color is complex, rich, flattering, and it too wears really well. A shout out to Tracy, who gives the best head massage around! Donna is excellent, very creative and an expert cutting, coloring and styling hair. My hair is thick and curley, Donna either blows my hair out or styles it curley...when I leave the salon my hair always looks fabulous. When she blows out my hair it lasts for at least 5 days. In addition Donna has showed me how to style my hair to wear it curley which has always been diffucult for me. Every time Donna dyes my hair which is monthly it looks amazing and i am extremely happy with the color. In the spring i decided to get highlights, I have received many comments on how great the highlights look. They look natural yet gives my hair a pop. I started off with really unruly hair, frizz everywhere, lots of knots, waves, straight pieces, and barely any curls, except for my bottom layer. Not to mention that my hair went in every direction and poofed around me. After a very enjoyable experience with Mario, who is very funny and has a real conversation with you during the haircut, I have very defined curls. My hair is still about the same length (below waist), give or take an inch when it's wet and combed, but now my hair curls up, shrinking a whole 6 inches. And it's not just a haircut. It's a total experience. The salon is beautiful (they have a secret garden with a pond out back) and everyone is so friendly. Now my straight haired sister isn't embarrassed to be in public with me. I will definitely be going back. And totally forget about the price. You'll gladly shell out for this. read more

My hair looks amazing; the shape is phenomenal, the curl definition is perfect (thanks to the product recommended to me by Mario), and, most importantly, the length of my hair isn't much different than when I first walked in. Trinh is my hairstylist at Salon Capelli...she is truly gifted. I've been going to Trinh for just about 12 years now. I've been long...short...blonde...brown...bangs...no bangs...BUT ALWAYS HAPPY with what Trinh was able to accomplish! (She's great at eyebrow waxing too!). Trinh is a workhorse- she knows what she's doing and I feel so fortunate to have her as my stylist...I've never strayed- and don't plan to! Salon Capelli is like family to me...and it's not b/c of the 12 years I've been going- it is b/c that is how they treat everyone. I just came from getting my DEVA hair cut by Mario and I am in LOVE with my hair. He did an absolutely fantastic job. Let me mention that I am 100% Puerto Rican and I have super thick, tightly coiled hair with tons of volume! If I needed to categorize it, I would say that my hair is 4A with some 3C sprinkled throughout. I must say that I was hesitant at first because the pictures on their website show women with very loose curl patterns which my hair is no where near but, I'm glad I took the chance and went to Salon Capelli. All of my reservations quickly subsided when I sat down with Mario to do a brief consulation before my cut. I really liked the fact that he listened to everything I had to say about my current hair regimen and my "hair history" sort of speak. I never felt rushed or pressured to purchase any products. Overall, my experience was very pleasant and satisfying. The price point is on the expensive side but I got more than what I expected so I would pay it again in a heartbeat! read more

Had the worst salon experience here . Called and made an appt. for cut and single process color. Showed up early and was asked to fill out card. Was taken back to color area- given a gown that did not fit me - color was put in and stylist put timer on and left- my timer went off and another stylist insisted her client( who did not have timer go off) be taken to rinse area ahead of me. My scalp started burning and itching from having dye on so long- when I was finally taken to rinse area- the chair had no recliner and I was told to put my legs up on a rolling chair. I was then taken to cut area and told Mario would be cutting my hair- Mario gave me a nasty look and said no he had another customer . The staff then stood there and argued amongst themselves about who would cut my hair and finally the worst receptionist in the world said he was sorry but he only put the color and not cut in the appt. book. I had already overheard another customer being apologized to because receptionist had not put highlights in for her visit. Mario did nothing to accommodate for the mistake and dismissed me with a soaking wet tangled mess of hair with a burning itchy scalp. The receptionist did not forget to charge me for the single process color and had nerve enough to say I should call back if I wanted a haircut. I had to comb and detangle my wet hair when I got to my car. Not professional and downright nasty folks- stay far away!m read more

Trinh is the best! I highly recommend going to her if you have naturally curly hair or want color. She is extremely friendly and personable and puts you at ease as you discuss what kind of cut you're going for. It's helpful to bring pictures. I didn't feel rushed at all. Trinh took her time to make sure the cut & color came out well, and to explain how to style it myself at home. She also let me know what products she used but didn't push me to buy. She recommended a product I hadn't tried before and which I liked, so I did end up getting that. The salon is in a new location, which is spacious, clean, and comfortable. There is a parking lot behind the salon too, which is very convenient. (Remember to bring quarters for the meters.) The other people working there--from front desk to shampoo--were also very friendly, making it an all around wonderful experience. I was a new customer and I would definitely go again! read more

Traumatizing experience. Happened last year. Only just writing about it now. I blocked out the hairdresser's name, but it was a guy. Had an accent. It was my second time getting my haircut there. He spent about 10 minutes cutting my hair. Said he was very busy and didn't have time to style it. Didn't put any product in my. Curly. Hair. I put my glasses on to see in the mirror. I looked like a frizzy Q-tip. I pleaded with him to at least put some gel in my hair. He did and left me under the dryer. I showed myself out. He had put so much gel in, my hair got extra crispy and super crunchy. I went home and washed my hair...I'd been scalped. I felt humiliated. Taken advantage of. Demeaned. Wrote them a letter demanding my money back and told them they should be ashamed for the way they treated me. Some "manager" called saying the owner would fix my hair. I said, "What hair?" And then I told him there wasn't enough money in the world for me to step foot back in that place they call a salon. They gave me my money back. My dignity would return in time. read more

Shelly is THE BEST! I now have the hair I always wanted and never thought I could have thanks to Shelly. I've been going to her for over 3 years for color/highlights and cut and my hair looks amazing! I do not have the easiest hair to deal with but now it's long, glossy and layered with lots of multidimensional color and movement. I can wear it curly or straight. I've also gotten keratin treatments in the summer months from Shelly - ladies its a must - treat yourself! No matter what changes I make to my hair (and I make them often) Shelly has always executed what I've envisioned and I've never been disappointed. She is not only a color master but has the most experience with keratin at the salon and will give you long (or short) glorious layers that look like they are out of a shampoo commercial!
