Quality salon in the suburbs of Philly!…read more Came across the salon after an extensive search for a skilled lightening service and reasonable prices! Glad I got my hair done here. It was difficult to get an appointment! I submitted a website forum and called the work phone several times. The best way to contact is via text message to the work phone! Totally understandable that they are busy, but I didn't get a reply for 3 weeks. The salon is decently sized for 2 stylists! Jess is the owner and manager; Abby is her work partner. I had my hair lightened and cut by Abby! She was chill and knew exactly how to blend my existing blonde pieces with babylights. Love a low maintenance look. The toner/gloss that she mixed up counteracted the brassiness well. I have dark, coarse asian hair that I get lightened at the salon. Haircut was decent too. Prices were reasonable for the time, effort and materials! Will go back again. Excited to have found a nice salon in the suburbs.

Abby did absolute magic cutting my hair which is auburn, coarse and can be unruly in humid weather;…read morebut I won't be going back having been disinvited for being "disrespectful" in an e-mail reply to the owner who, over this past very snowy weekend, harassed me by email/messages, first by announcing a price increase of more than 20% and then by demanding to know if I would be at my appointment 2 days hence, with a warning that if I didn't provide 24 hours' notice, I would be charged half of the cost; after I said I didn't know but would decide the following day-- before the 24 hour notice requirement--she cancelled my appointment. I am older--almost 80--have artificial knees, and a driveway that can be difficult in good weather; 13" of snow with ice on top made it hard to know if I would be able to get there, even though I really needed a haircut. I've been going to this salon for almost 2 years during which time the owner, Jessica, has never greeted me or even acknowledged my presence; we've never had a conversation and she knows nothing about me, so I was truly baffled by her behavior. After this experience and after reading the reviews on this site, I think this business may cater to--or want to serve-- a much younger crowd and am guessing that's what the owner prefers. EDIT: the reply from the owner is untrue: I don't know who her "Staff" might be other than Abby (who was my stylist)--I have never emailed her and in fact do not know Abby's email address. And my "Disrespect" was limited to my reply "have you looked out the window?" at the accumulating snow when asked about keeping my appointment. Now that I've read them, the reviews support my belief that this salon prefers a young clientele--the words "chill" "vibe" "chic" "adorable" are pretty unmistakable. Please take note: the owner has not disputed my narrative of the facts of what transpired here or my sense that she prefers to serve young clients and is not interested in serving older people like me. Having never before encountered this kind of bias, I failed to recognize it for what it is and that is why I submitted this review.

This salon will treat you like you're not good enough for them. After getting your hair done you won't feel beautiful, you'll feel like you just wasted the salon's time with your business, and you did: the owner, Carissa, made it clear to me that she doesn't need my business or anyone else's. Don't let her saccharine-sweet texts fool you: she's judging you. After I got a bad keratin treatment at Salon Domane, I texted Carissa and asked to have it fixed. Instead of taking me at my word, Carissa said that my stylist, Amanda, would have to verify that the keratin didn't take: before fixing it, Amanda would have to look at my hair and she couldn't "look" at it for 2 weeks. I've had keratin treatments for years (at other salons), I know when they don't take to my hair, and the stylists have fixed it within days - they've prioritized me because I've already paid them and have never questioned my honesty. Carissa also said she would have Amanda call me. Never heard from Amanda. When I expressed that I wasn't happy with waiting more than 2 weeks to have my hair repaired, Carissa called me & said that I didn't respect her livelihood or Amanda's. She eventually realized that I just didn't want to wait any longer to have the hair I'd paid her business for weeks ago. The morning of the appt to look at my hair, I texted Carissa to thank her again for her phone call and the resolution we agreed upon. That morning Amanda finally called me, too. Talking to me as if I was moron, who knew her daily schedule, she told me that her reason for not calling sooner was that she was too busy. Amanda then blamed my hair looking terrible on medication she assumed I was taking because I had previously confided in her that I struggle with PTSD. Low blow. After blaming my hair on my health, Amanda finally assured me that she would fix my hair in a timely manner. Five minutes after Amanda's call, Carissa called me again, this time, irate. Somehow she had misinterpreted my "thank you, again" text as a threat (what?!). She said she was refunding me for the terrible keratin, Amanda was not going to fix it, and she never wanted to see me again. Along with her misunderstanding of my text of gratitude, her reasons for refusing my business were: she didn't like my energy (she's never met me) & I don't respect hairstylists (clearly a sore spot, & invalidated). She & I had commiserated in our last phone call about the challenges of being in a service industry. I absolutely respect her industry and empathize with her. I would never treat someone, whether they're a client or not, the way I was treated by Salon Domane. If you choose to provide a service to people, you should know how to treat people when they're unhappy with your service and show them some compassion. Having just moved to this area, I hope everyone here is more welcoming than the people at Salon Domane. I would not want them representing my community. I have never been treated so poorly over something so small. And this was the short version.

I've followed her through various salons and will continue to do so. Her balayage is amazing. She's very sweet on top of being super creative. Modern Salon made a wise choice in selecting Amanda as their Top 100 in 2019.
