At my appointment, we discussed the length of my hair and let Trinh know that I liked it on the longer side, not above my chin. I had a lot of new growth since starting hair vitamins, but I clearly didn't want my hair cut down to the new growth or anywhere near! Trinh is very quick, seemingly implusive with her "snipping", THEN she says, "I have to check my cut." More snipping. I didn't feel Trinh was focused on my haircut, frequently responding to conversations going on with other staff. I paid $120 for a Deva cut - my hair is fine and a bit thin, so I was charged the lowest price for the Deva cut. Trinh said "my haircuts last for 4 months." I can see why. It will take 4 months for my hair to grow to a length that I like. Trinh was very nice and took a lot of time teaching me how to use Deva products and was constantly "checking the cut" but kept on snipping. In the past, I have often left with a Deva cut that was frizzy. My hair was not frizzy when I left the salon. That's the best I can say about my experience and that the shampoo assistant did a very nice job.

I am older--almost 80--have artificial knees, and a driveway that can be difficult in good weather; 13" of snow with ice on top made it hard to know if I would be able to get there, even though I really needed a haircut. I've been going to this salon for almost 2 years during which time the owner, Jessica, has never greeted me or even acknowledged my presence; we've never had a conversation and she knows nothing about me, so I was truly baffled by her behavior. After this experience and after reading the reviews on this site, I think this business may cater to--or want to serve-- a much younger crowd and am guessing that's what the owner prefers. EDIT: the reply from the owner is untrue: I don't know who her "Staff" might be other than Abby (who was my stylist)--I have never emailed her and in fact do not know Abby's email address. And my "Disrespect" was limited to my reply "have you looked out the window?" at the accumulating snow when asked about keeping my appointment. Now that I've read them, the reviews support my belief that this salon prefers a young clientele--the words "chill" "vibe" "chic" "adorable" are pretty unmistakable. Please take note: the owner has not disputed my narrative of the facts of what transpired here or my sense that she prefers to serve young clients and is not interested in serving older people like me. Having never before encountered this kind of bias, I failed to recognize it for what it is and that is why I submitted this review.

I went in and was entirely unhelpful about what I wanted with my hair -- I wanted red but not too red and not purple-y red, I part my hair differently depending on the day, I wasn't sure the length I wanted etc. And she very patiently listened to everything I had to say and mixed a color for me. She spent so much time carefully selecting each portion of my hair, and applying the dye. She ended up creating the perfectly natural red highlights that blended with my already highlighted hair. She took so much time to blow dry it, and to perfect the cut (when my hair was both dry and wet) -- she first asked me and then took about 5 inches off which made my hair so much healthier! The stylists themselves have always been kind and do their best, but they often seem overwhelmed and unsupported. The actual color service has generally been fine, but the overall experience has consistently been frustrating. Some of the recurring issues I've experienced include: The app frequently does not work properly for scheduling appointments. I've arrived and been told they had the wrong appointment time for me. Long wait times have repeatedly made me late for work. No hot water -- this has happened twice on very cold days. I was told they had been requesting a new water heater for months. Washing hair with cold water in the winter is unacceptable. My computer charger broke because one of the outlets was extremely tight. Staff attempted to contact a manager about reimbursement, but I never heard back. Appointments are often delayed or disrupted because a staff member has called out at the last minute. There is no way to reach a live person by phone when issues come up. The fact that this is my first Yelp review ever really says a lot. I truly want this place to succeed, but it feels like both the staff and customers deserve better support and management. I keep saying I'm not going to return, but I still have the membership, which is the only reason I've continued coming back.

This salon will treat you like you're not good enough for them. After getting your hair done you won't feel beautiful, you'll feel like you just wasted the salon's time with your business, and you did: the owner, Carissa, made it clear to me that she doesn't need my business or anyone else's. Don't let her saccharine-sweet texts fool you: she's judging you. After I got a bad keratin treatment at Salon Domane, I texted Carissa and asked to have it fixed. Instead of taking me at my word, Carissa said that my stylist, Amanda, would have to verify that the keratin didn't take: before fixing it, Amanda would have to look at my hair and she couldn't "look" at it for 2 weeks. I've had keratin treatments for years (at other salons), I know when they don't take to my hair, and the stylists have fixed it within days - they've prioritized me because I've already paid them and have never questioned my honesty. Carissa also said she would have Amanda call me. Never heard from Amanda. When I expressed that I wasn't happy with waiting more than 2 weeks to have my hair repaired, Carissa called me & said that I didn't respect her livelihood or Amanda's. She eventually realized that I just didn't want to wait any longer to have the hair I'd paid her business for weeks ago. The morning of the appt to look at my hair, I texted Carissa to thank her again for her phone call and the resolution we agreed upon. That morning Amanda finally called me, too. Talking to me as if I was moron, who knew her daily schedule, she told me that her reason for not calling sooner was that she was too busy. Amanda then blamed my hair looking terrible on medication she assumed I was taking because I had previously confided in her that I struggle with PTSD. Low blow. After blaming my hair on my health, Amanda finally assured me that she would fix my hair in a timely manner. Five minutes after Amanda's call, Carissa called me again, this time, irate. Somehow she had misinterpreted my "thank you, again" text as a threat (what?!). She said she was refunding me for the terrible keratin, Amanda was not going to fix it, and she never wanted to see me again. Along with her misunderstanding of my text of gratitude, her reasons for refusing my business were: she didn't like my energy (she's never met me) & I don't respect hairstylists (clearly a sore spot, & invalidated). She & I had commiserated in our last phone call about the challenges of being in a service industry. I absolutely respect her industry and empathize with her. I would never treat someone, whether they're a client or not, the way I was treated by Salon Domane. If you choose to provide a service to people, you should know how to treat people when they're unhappy with your service and show them some compassion. Having just moved to this area, I hope everyone here is more welcoming than the people at Salon Domane. I would not want them representing my community. I have never been treated so poorly over something so small. And this was the short version.

The salon is in a shopping center with ample parking. It's spacious and clean. Jim saw me right on time and assessed my hair. I was way over do for a cut and was losing my curl pattern. Once cut it was washed and treated and he took me to another chair. I never laid back for diffusion and this was the first time. The chair goes back for good diffusing position. Jim took his time and my curls came back. I love the care he took and will definitely be back!
