Even though it's the first stop for the college kids to Get a Peruvian bear fucker before they defile themselves at soul night, it still accommodates the local riff raff. If I need to start drinking at noon, they welcome me with open arms, unlike most libraries. Totes would recommend bringing a date there because it's dark and I'm not very attractive. read more

Went here with a couple of friends that live in Bellingham/surrounding area at their suggestion for some cheap drinks before going to JD McPherson this past Friday night. It was stated that the drinks were cheap, and pretty much has been a "working man's bar" for decades. This place has character. Sure it's divey, yep, the vinyl on the seats are ripped, but who cares? They're comfy, and the service is good, and the drinks were indeed strong. We only stayed for one drink, but I'd have been happy to stay there longer. read more

the few times I've stopped in here wearing clothes I've been treated well. once I went in to drop off my resume and they asked for my I.D. but it was punched. I am an organ donor however, so i kind of figured it cancelled the whole punch factor out. Just walked in to this bar with four friends. We just came from dinner at The Chrysalis. My friend asked the bartender what he would recommend, to which the bartender said 'get out of here as you are either drunk or on drugs!' My feeling is that bartender was one or the other . read more

If you're planning on doing karaoke on Sunday then get their extremely early (8:00 pm). The DJ only caters to regulars and close friends (real classy) maybe if you pay him he'll decide to let you grace caps with your singing (not). Overall extremely douchey and cliquey would not recommend. read more

I LoVe Caps! Best bar in town, i would say! i use to go into caps alot a couple of years ago( I quit drinking now ). But anyways, caps is a wicked bar great people come and go in that bar. Back in 2007 a Punk show got shut down by the cops at our house, And the friendly kats at Cap Hansen's HELPED us out and let us move the show to the Bar that night!! and they got wicked cheap beer and popcorn! great jukebox ( the dandelion junk queens is in there! ). Seems like a pretty standard shade of bar, I don't know why some fawn over it and others lose sleep over it; get out a little. I would recommend going during the off hours so you don't have to deal with the afore-mentioned hipsters, they can be a bit annoying. But it's always fun to see them squirm if you decide to stay and go on a real bender. The staff is fine if you get to know them, don't go in expecting them to fall all over you because you're old enough to buy beer. I stumbled on Cap's on a Sunday night. I drove up to Bham to help out a friend, with a sick family member. Anywhoo I got her out. We asked a local about great bars. It was a Sunday night. He mentioned Cap's and a few other's. Karaoke was mentioned. We both love to sing. We hit Cap's and stayed. Cap's is a cool dive bar. The staff, karaoke host and clientele were all friendly to us. I don't drink. But my buddy does. She said that the drink was reasonably priced and strong. Neither of us had any problem getting up to sing. The karaoke host was very entertaining! He dubbed us his new favorites. We had a blast! We joked with one of the bartenders. We will be back. read more

Best dive bar in Bellingham! Most times I've been there, which seems to be in the 4-6pm range, the wells have been $2.50. And the drinks are strong and consistently good. Always a fun crowd, with a steady stream of regulars. Seating is limited, as the place is on the smaller side. The jukebox is loaded with both classic and newer tunes - a little something for everybody. If you've never been here before, I'd recommend going midweek, in the early evening. You'll get a taste of the charm without the overwhelmingly large crowd that gathers on weekends. read more

Best karaoke in Bellingham, but go early (like 9) for seats. Cheap drinks always. Small and hot, but worth it. The bouncers and bartenders are quick and efficient, also great people in general. Love this place. read more

I used to like going out to this bar with friends because of the fun crowd and dive-ness, but recently I've had way too many bad experiences with the bartenders. Super rude...blatantly insulted some of my friends (who have been regulars), despite how well we tipped! No reason why they were rude that I can think of. read more

This place is usually a chill place to go at the end of the night for a last minute drink, but apparently the bartender last night with glasses and short curly hair has a problem with people introducing them selfs and shaking their hand!! Then immediately said he was being harassed and asked us to leave after walking in the door and just politely introducing ourselves, I've been a bartender for many years and you have to be able to handle any type of customer and this guy made a big mistake and lost some money and respect! Clearly your too old to be a bartender and need to take a chill pill ass!! You can't handle the bar get out from behind the counter!! We've been going there for years and after the bullshit we've encounter we won't be back, sad thing is we weren't even drunk the bartender was just a whiny baby!! This is the worst experience I have ever had in a bar. My friends and I went there to get a couple of shots before heading over to the nightlight because we had heard that they pour them strong. The bartender not only deliberately ignored us for 15 minutes, but when we ordered golden apple shots she gave us shots of apple pucker and apple juice. She didn't even try to hide the fact that there was no crown royal involved. She then proceeded to charge us $5 per shot. For apple pucker. I asked her how that shot constituted a golden apple when it was nothing like a washington apple and she scoffed at me and said "well there's apple juice, that's what makes it golden." What a terrible experience. I would never treat someone like that because they had tatoos and scenester clothes on in my bar, therefore if I am wearing high heels and have my hair curled I deserve to be given what I ordered instead of some stuck up bartender thinking she's pulling a fast one on a ditzy airhead. If the readers of this review take anything from this entry, let it be that Cap's employs stuck up scenesters with an undeserving sense of superiority. Don't support this bar they don't deserve your business. read more

I love caps and I consider her be the one and only bar whenever I visit Whatcom. I recently just came in and saw some changes. It looks great! It's so much cheerier but has the same kind of comfortable feel that brings me back. The price is right, the jukebox is awesome. The staff is rad as ever.
