It must be the same owners for Sophie's, Asian Food and Canyon Pizza - maybe they should focus on one concept and do it well. We were the second table in the place and told to sit wherever. They offer beer and wine - skip the wine as the options are lackluster, but apparently they make sangria and a 16 oz pour is the same price as beer. They have a few draft beers on tap - bud and a couple of Mexican selections (one of the many connecting points). We ordered an overpriced 14" pepperoni pizza for $18. Thankfully napkins are on the table to blot off all the grease. There is potential - the crust could be good. Service was lackluster - one person running the counter and floor and one person cooking. Again, not many options so we will hit the general store and opt for dinner in tomorrow. BTW...if someone wants to open a decent restaurant, you would make a killing here!

This is your typical food court. Ok options, nothing special, but descent reasonably priced.read more

Let's start with the important thing. The food gets a one. Not because it tried hard. Not because…read moreit was "almost there." But because one is the lowest I'm allowed to give it. Welcome to Maswik Food Court at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon South Rim, where the views are breathtaking and the flavors are... missing. Atmosphere? Solid three. It's a food court. You're not here for romance. You're here because you're hungry and it's convenient. That part I understand. Now the service. The folks behind the counter radiated a level of uncertainty that made me wonder if this was their first collective day on Earth. My wife ordered the chicken pot pie and simply asked what was in it. A fair question. This required a committee meeting. After consulting two additional employees, we were finally able to identify the contents of the mystery pie. The pastry on top was actually decent. Credit where it's due. But the filling tasted like someone described seasoning to it once and it took that personally. The mashed potatoes and gravy were so aggressively salted they could preserve a woolly mammoth. The mac and cheese tasted like it was still searching for its purpose in life. I went with the recommended tacos. If you've ever wondered what tacos might taste like in a hospital cafeteria during a sodium restriction program, I now have your answer. For forty five dollars, you expect at least a polite handshake from flavor. We came in with modest expectations. It's a food court at one of the most famous natural wonders in the world. We weren't looking for culinary fireworks. We were just hoping for taste. Instead, while standing at the top of the South Rim, it felt like my taste buds were gently escorted to the bottom of the canyon. The Grand Canyon is one of the most awe inspiring places on Earth. The food here is proof that nature and cooking are not always on speaking terms. Pack snacks. Trust me.

I definitely wanted a beanie to help with the wind chill, and so did my daughters. Visited this store while my daughters stayed in line at Starbucks. Was able to find a beanie for each of us. There were a lot of cute items available for purchase, including some Snoopy items! Loved the self-checkout option as well. Prices are a little bit higher than you might expect. Super convenient though, if you ever find yourself in a pinch for something in this area.

The male cashier looked me up and down as I approached the register. I politely told him I didn't need a bag, and instead of responding professionally, he tossed my shirt onto the counter with an obvious attitude and walked away without saying a word. I say thank you after and did it 2x just checking if he responded not just turn back on me. The entire interaction made me feel unwelcome and singled out. I can't say for certain what his intentions were, but the way I was treated left me feeling that my race may have played a role. Whether intentional or not, his behavior came across as rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Customer service should make everyone feel welcome and respected. I hope management addresses this so other customers don't have a similar experience.
