Great pizza and wings! Best place we ate at the Grand Canyon. Food was sub-par every place we tried except this one. Service was slow however and a little disorganized. The ambience was nice, like a wooden cabin style. Parking limited, but we got lucky.

Vegetable Pizza

Doesn't photograph well. Almost didn't come here because the pictures didn't look good, but after the sunset at Hopi's point it was the most convenient. I may be biased after hiking all day but the food SLAPPED. I got a chicken parm sub (demolished prior to photo) but my friends got a Veggie Pizza & they said it also SLAPPED.

Pepperoni pizza yumminess.

We took the family of four out for a dinner here after hiking the rim, and overall it was a solid win. Total bill around $70 with soft drinks. The cheese sticks were crispy, gooey perfection, and the Caesar salad hit just right with fresh greens and spot-on dressing. Pepperoni pizza came out a tad undercooked in the center but still tasted great with all those toppings. Sports fans were hyped over the games on TV, which isn't our thing, but the vibe stayed fun and relaxed anyway. Everything made for an easy, enjoyable night out just down from our cabin.

Maybe we were just lucky, or maybe we were famished after our hike, but the pizza we had at the Maswik lodge dining hall was pretty tasty! We didn't have to wait at all, the pizza was cheesy, and veggie and meat options were available. Knowing I was at the Grand Canyon and understanding there are limited food selections at national parks, I was pleasantly surprised by how decent the meal was. Sure, the toppings probably aren't high quality (the veggies looked like they were straight out of a can) and the crust is not a bread bakers dream, but it was pretty soft and actually palatable. In terms of comparing to a fast food pizza joint, Maswik pub's slice fits somewhere between a little Caesar's slice but not as good as Papa John's. My somewhat low expectations were actually surpassed and I have to say, I wasn't entirely disappointed. In fact, we all want to bed with a full and satisfied belly, and we weren't sick the next morning! The service may have been neutral but it helped that I got offered a free slice due to one of the veggie slices having too few toppings! In my opinion this place was affordable, they could've easily charged more based on the location (and people would've paid for it!), it was opened late, and they served beer. If I stayed on the property again and was hungry, which I always am, I honestly would consider getting a slice or two at the Pub. For all these reasons, though it isn't the best pizza you'll ever have probably a 3.5 in taste, I have to bump it up to a 4.

Cute little pizza pub within the Maswik Lodge located within Grand Canyon National Park. The pizza is great! It's fresh and super cheesy! It does not taste like there was too much salt or preservatives, just a good old fashioned homemade pizza. The pizza pub has a larger screen tv. At the time we visited there was a basketball game on which made my son so happy. The pizza maker burnt the first pizza but handled it so professionally and really wanted to take care of us. We ended up with a free pizza and never even expected it. Great customer service and cute little pizza pub. Def visit.

As we waited for our room to be ready just walking around and seen this pizza place. So we both order a piece and a beer. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and patient with us not knowing what we were getting. But when we got our pizza it was hot and really good. So we ate there again that night.

Checked this place out on yelp prior to visiting and I'm not quite sure why there are so many complaints..... we did visit during a weekend in the off season of January and beat the crowds, so maybe some of these negative reviews are from the busier season. With that being said, OUR experience was great. Eric took care of us at the bar, and was by far one of the best employees we've come across while visiting the park. He was prompt and attentive. He carried on conversation with us and still never had an issue taking care of everything else going on. All of my food was fresh out of the oven and hit the spot!! Hawaiian pizza and garlic bread with garlic dipping sauce for the win.

Good for kids there's a large seating area it's not formal or fancy so it's just easier than going to a sit down place if you have small children. Also most meals are around $15-$18 so it's a lot cheaper vs the sit down places charging $40 a meal. I've been here a lot like I said pretty much everything I've had is decent.

Let's start with the important thing. The food gets a one. Not because it tried hard. Not because…read moreit was "almost there." But because one is the lowest I'm allowed to give it. Welcome to Maswik Food Court at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon South Rim, where the views are breathtaking and the flavors are... missing. Atmosphere? Solid three. It's a food court. You're not here for romance. You're here because you're hungry and it's convenient. That part I understand. Now the service. The folks behind the counter radiated a level of uncertainty that made me wonder if this was their first collective day on Earth. My wife ordered the chicken pot pie and simply asked what was in it. A fair question. This required a committee meeting. After consulting two additional employees, we were finally able to identify the contents of the mystery pie. The pastry on top was actually decent. Credit where it's due. But the filling tasted like someone described seasoning to it once and it took that personally. The mashed potatoes and gravy were so aggressively salted they could preserve a woolly mammoth. The mac and cheese tasted like it was still searching for its purpose in life. I went with the recommended tacos. If you've ever wondered what tacos might taste like in a hospital cafeteria during a sodium restriction program, I now have your answer. For forty five dollars, you expect at least a polite handshake from flavor. We came in with modest expectations. It's a food court at one of the most famous natural wonders in the world. We weren't looking for culinary fireworks. We were just hoping for taste. Instead, while standing at the top of the South Rim, it felt like my taste buds were gently escorted to the bottom of the canyon. The Grand Canyon is one of the most awe inspiring places on Earth. The food here is proof that nature and cooking are not always on speaking terms. Pack snacks. Trust me.

People were transparent in needing to book a reservation, so I did it as soon as they opened (30 days in advanced). I reserved a table for two, seated inside but looking right out towards the Grand Canyon. I enjoyed my meal while walking elk roam around outside and got to watch the sun set. My favorite dish from my dinner experience was the pork belly appetizer. I wish I had enough room to order two of them. The cookie cake was also a fun sweet to end the meal on. (entrees were good, but didn't stand out). What did stand out, though, was their vegetable portions! I loved !! It can be hard getting veggies in while on vacation, but my pesto pasta dish. Cane with green beans and a few other mix in veggies. (note: the restaurant doesn't have a bathroom within it...you walk downstairs to use the resort's bathroom. Since this was the shoulder season, when we walked in, it didn't even seem like we needed the reservation as the place wasn't very full at all. The maitre d' stand is located outside of the restaurant, kitty corner from the hotel lobby check in. We got confused at first and walked directly into the dining room before realizing our mistake! While the restaurant states "El Tovar Dining Room is a classic, fine dining experience. While jackets are not required, please use discretion to dress appropriately (shorts and flip-flops discouraged)," we walked in with hiking gear on and had no issues. Pretty much everyone inside was wearing casual clothing in the first place. Service in general is very pleasant. Since it wasn't too busy, we were seated in one of the tables closest to the large picture windows overlooking the Grand Canyon. Pancake Trio ($15) - This dish includes three pancakes stacked on a plate with a small cup of honey butter mixed with pine nuts, making a decadent treat. On the side lie two small pitchers of syrup; one a natural Vermont maple, with plenty of maple flavor, and the other a prickly pear syrup, fruity and sweet. The pancakes from bottom to top: an orange blossom infused batter, making a fluffy pancake with delicate orange notes, in the middle a blue cornmeal pancake, somewhat dry and gritty but with interesting flavor and texture, and finally on top a typical fluffy and tender buttermilk pancake. It's a very satisfying and delicious meal with plenty of variety. (5/5) Daily Special Biscuits & Gravy ($15) - The waitress recommended this for us and unfortunately neither of us thought the dish as a whole was very good. Everything on the plate was kind of a mess. The biscuit is a drop biscuit type, baked well until the exterior becomes crusty. The interior is actually too moist, so it's almost mushy in texture, which is not what I want in a biscuit. The gravy is fine. It's spiced appropriately with plenty of diced onion and some pieces of what seem to be sliced breakfast sausage logs. They are a bit sweet, perhaps maple infused? The eggs we asked for over medium, which the chef actually did pretty well. One egg is more towards over hard and the other one is towards over easy, but both are pretty decent. The problem is with the amount of oil used to fry the eggs. There's a thick sheen underneath, making the plate completely glossy, which also makes the eggs very fatty and greasy. The same thing happened with the potatoes. The potatoes seem to be cut in house, with larger and smaller cubes of waxy yellow potato. They have a very uneven fry, with some being tender, others still being somewhat raw and hard. The potatoes are seasoned well, but again they use way too much oil, leaving behind a greasy and oily mess. I don't normally eat eggs/potatoes with ketchup, but in this case, both needed the extra acidic zing to balance out all the fat. (3/5) Daily Pastry Sticky Bun ($8) - This is served warm with plenty of butterscotch dressing the top. The butterscotch has a pleasing burnt acridity that really balances well with the sugar sweetness. Embedded into the sticky topping are some crunchy oats for texture. The sticky bun itself is a super tender and warm brioche, rich with plenty of cinnamon. It's surprisingly not too sweet and is a delight to eat. (5/5) I was really surprised at the quality of the food from El Tovar. Given the relatively low ratings, I thought it would be terrible reheated Sysco type of food, but it seems like El Tovar takes their dishes and cooking seriously. Bathrooms - None in the restaurant itself. There are larger rooms with multiple stalls down the stairs across from the hotel check in.

The food options in general in the Grand Canyon are grim, so we didn't expect too much, only being lured in by the promise of 10% off due to our hotel stay at the Red Feather Lodge. The food was even worse than our low expectations. Walking in for dinner on Saturday during the shoulder season, it wasn't very busy at all. And yet we felt like we were ignored for a good while before we were able to place our order. Service in general was very slow, with the waitress disappearing for several long stretches of time. For example, it took about 20 minutes to get our order in after we had sat down and then another 20 minutes after we had finished to get the check. At least the chips and salsa arrived quickly. Chips and Salsa (Complementary) - These are standard yellow corn tortilla chips, with tons of tiny crushed chips on the bottom and larger whole ones on top. The salsa is slightly spicy, tangy, has plenty of crunchy chopped onion and tender tomatoes mixed in along with fresh herbs. Pretty standard stuff but tasty. Pork Carnitas ($29.99) - When this dish came out we were not sure what exactly we had received. What was on the plate certainly didn't look like carnitas; instead it looked like some kind of pork stew. We flagged the waitress down and she insisted they were carnitas. Strange. The "carnitas" consists of cubed and stewed pork mixed with celery and peppers. The cubes are compressed and cannot be shredded apart. There is a tiny bit of texture on some pieces that indicate that they had been fried at some point, but they are mostly tender instead. The texture reminds me of commercial pork that's been injected with saline and preservatives. It's very lean but the stewing liquid adds tons of rich, deep, flavors to the dish. Unfortunately the pork itself doesn't taste good. There's a strange off flavor, perhaps of older or freezer burned meat. The rice and beans are pretty normal. The rice is moist but each fried grain can be felt. It has appropriate salty tomato flavor. The beans are tender and mostly mashed, a little on the silky/watery side with some pieces of bean remaining. They are seasoned appropriately. Given the texture on the beans I wonder if they are from a can and/or direct from a commercial supplier. This dish is served with four small flour tortillas which are the worst I have ever seen at a Mexican restaurant. They are completely dried out, glued together into a stack. Clearly no care was given to storage. Any Mexican restaurant should be ashamed at serving the quality of the tortillas we received. Finally, there's some pico de gallo and guac to create some "carnitas" tacos. The guac is quite tangy from citrus juice. No matter what the waitress said, I don't think this dish was "Pork Carnitas." Even after leaving the restaurant, I tried to do some research to see if there is some regional variation of carnitas that could match this dish. I found nothing. From the pictures of another review 10 years ago, I see Plaza Bonita used to serve real carnitas - shredded deep fried pork. The switch to cubed pork must be a cost cutting measure. (1/5) Combo #2, Enchilada, Burrito, Green Corn Tamale, Shredded Beef ($24.99) - I'm not sure why anyone would order Combo #1 when the #2 is only a dollar more! The main difference between the enchilada and burrito is the tortilla used. The former has a corn tortilla, soaked a bit until soft and tender. There's a bit of standard red enchilada sauce poured on top, followed by just a bit of cheese. The burrito uses a toothsome and pliable flour tortilla that is rather tough and requires some work to get through with a knife. Both items I chose to get stuffed with shredded beef, which is actually pretty decent. It's very tender, very flavorful since they've been stewed for a while in some kind of sauce. The green corn tamale seems to be masa mixed with whole sweet corn kernels, and green chile skins (only a tiny bit of each). They add a lot of sugar, so the whole thing kind of tastes like eating sweet cornbread. The tamale is otherwise tender in texture and easy to eat. The texture is like that of an extruded masa, like it was prepared commercially in a factory. My guess based on the texture and appearance is that this isn't made in house. (3/5) Plaza Bonita was really disappointing. The pricing is absolutely ridiculous for what we received. They serve very low quality food for obscene prices. I think the only reason they survive as a business is because nothing else in the area is good either. Bathrooms - Two rooms with multiple stalls
