There were two choices for the stop over the other was Mexican~Chinese and this cafe. My traveling companions chose the other needless to say they were the only ones there. The fellow walking out of the place looked happy and with his recommendation I went in. Was a great choice the people were especially nice and friendly which is unusual for me to encounter. So I got a x rare patty melt with a salad for around $10. I am still in shock with that cheap price . I find it heartbreaking that the Cafe has taken such a turn for the worse, since moving here my family has truly enjoyed coming here, my mother even kept a calendar taped to the fridge with their daily specials. Sadly, we will never be returning, this last experience was honestly one of the worst experiences I've encountered has far as service goes from any restaurant. We walked in around lunchtime, there were literally no customers, as we walked in two women were standing at the kitchen pass through window talking with the cook, they turned around and made direct eye contact but not one of them said hello or welcome, there was zero acknowledgment. The Cafe has always been a seat yourself type of place, there are no "please wait to be seated" signs, it's always been grab a table and someone brings a menu. A little disappointing that we weren't greeted, but in no way a deal breaker, we grabbed a table and waited...and nothing. I watched one of the women walk to the register and not even look over at us, someone walked behind the bar and watched a breaking story that was on the news...still nothing. Obviously I don't want to assume either woman was a server, but it seemed apparent that they worked there in some capacity, no matter what their actual job title is, ignoring customers just doesn't seem a good way for a business to make money. At this point we figured f*ck it, they have made it clear they don't want us here so we got up and left, they watched us walk out and didn't even care. I understand that there isn't a lot of competition in this area and there are probably people that will simply deal with such treatment, we aren't those people, we work very hard for our money and our biggest indulgence is spending it on treating ourselves to a meal out, as I said it's heartbreaking that that option has been taken away from us. We've decided not to return to Canyon Café. The service during our last visit was so poor (see our review) that we have no interest in experiencing it again. It's clear the owner isn't taking proper care of the business, and it shows. Thankfully, Meadview has plenty of great restaurants, and we're looking forward to trying some new dishes elsewhere. Between Vegas and the Grand Canyon West, there aren't many options, so this place was clutch! We were the only people here during the visit, so food came out fast. It's pretty decent tbh; your run of the mill American food(eg mozz sticks, burger, tenders). Honestly, if you or your kids can wait until the tour is over, I'd eat here before eating at the Grand Canyon West. Oh and despite being in a small town, the prices are still touristy . When this was the only option to eat at on the way to the Canyon I didnt have high hope. We were literally in the middle of no where in the desert. The menu was simple and the people here seem to be all locals. Service was ok as there was only one waitress. Bf got the biscuit and gravy with hashbrown - the plate came LOADED with white gravy practically spilling over the plate. The food was drowning in gravy and you have no idea what you're poking at. It was a bit much and wish they ONLY put it on the biscuit and not the entire plate. As far as taste wise, it was decent. I got 2 eggs/sausage/bacon and pancake - weirdly the eggs and meats were on top of my pancake. Usually pancake come on its own separate plate. I was a bit lazy to ask for another plate and try to move my food around and the lady didn't really pay attention to us I just kind of went for it. Well, it's not something I would recommend since my sunny side egg yolk does not taste right seeped into the pancake. Coffee - since it was early in the morning and there was no coffee shop around the coffee was really good. Overall the food was medicore. It's not terrible. They do have a sign that says "we dont serve fast food. We serve great food as fast as we can" I find that funny as that is true. read more

I mentioned it to the waitress she said she told the cook the correct order. Never once saying sorry or offering to fix it. She said that's just how he makes them! Came in yesterday to "try it again", for breakfast. Horrible eggs, not cooked as requested and the heavy grease soaked hash browns were disgusting. I would give this "One Star" due to the Waitress's bad attitude, But I am cutting her some slack-maybe it was an bad day for her. We all have bad days from time to time, we are supposed to hide it from our customers and not be rude to them. We had a fun, low-key overnighter in Chloride, Az. Everyone we met (business staff or regular locals) we friendly. We had a great time....that great feeling was almost ruined by a trip to Dolan Springs. We did NOT feel welcomed there. We stopped off at the Canyon Cafe and was eventually greeted by a waitress stating "I will get to you when I can". Ok, maybe she could have phrased that a little better- she was busy and possibly in a temporarily grumpy mood because of it. When she eventually came to take our order, we discovered that they were out of Root Beer of root beer floats...we then asked about the pizza "no more pizza-they have it across the street"....We were Zero for 2 on our order so we said "thank you, but we will go elsewhere"...the grunt that waitress gave us was easily a "thank you for waisting my time"....hey waitress, it goes both ways! We were on our way back at a failed attempt at the Grand Canyon skywalk ($71 dollars a person, no way Jose!) and were hungry. We stopped at this quant little cafe and were ready to enjoy some time outside of the car. It has about 10 tables/booths and bar top seating. We weren't greeted right away but that's ok, there was only one server on that we could tell. She handed us menus and we decided on our meals. I got the cafe club- delicious! I did take the middle layer of bread out as I personally am not a huge bread water. I feel like this could only be made better if it had cheese (cheese lover here lol). It hit the spot and the fries were great as well. My husband got the philly- he said it was good but was a little disappointed in the size of the sand which. It was small and not filled enough for him. He finished it and was left wanting more. My son got the kids grilled cheese and hardly ate it as it was mostly bread. He wanted more cheese to it. I couldn't blame him it looked as if it was all bread and one slice of cheese. Other than the slight food modifications we enjoyed our lunch! We were on our way back from the Grand Canyon SkyWalk, and we were HUNGRY! So, we took a chance on this place, and we were not disappointed. The burgers were hand made, and the toppings were fresh. We liked the fries as well. It has a basic but clean "country store" atmosphere that we appreciated. We were the only table this time, as it was between meal times, and we had all the service we needed. I'm confused by the reviews I've read about Canyon Cafe. We stopped by yesterday on our way back home and picked it based on the reviews. I wasn't expected anything fancy but also wasn't expected what we got. The server was nice but was really busy with 3 other tables. She was the only front of house person there. The place is really small, and has low ceilings, the one loud party in the back made it impossible to have a conversation so we moved outside to eat. Not the restaurant's fault, just people who don't know what "inside voices" are. The spaghetti came with a salad that was a handful of iceberg lettuce, some onions, and some shredded carrots. It wasn't wilted but also wasn't even the size of a side salad. The spaghetti sauce was so overwhelmingly filled with bell peppers it ruined the taste. Not a lot of sauce either. I will say the garlic bread was good though. The burgers were dry, tasted like old meat and way over-cooked and under-seasoned. We asked for no onions, guess what we got? Onions. The buns weren't stale but were much bigger than the burgers so you got a mouth full of bread each bite. The fries were eh, just eh. Not enough salt and the oil might need to be changed. It had that weird fishy taste, like when the oil is old. I don't eat ketchup but my son said it tasted like it was watered down and it did look really runny. My son said the root beer was really good. Husband said the shake was "pretty good". When I went inside to get the check the server was telling her regular not to get dessert because "It's been here for a while". I'm glad we didn't order any! Oh, and the total for us was $50, before tip! 3 burgers and some spaghetti. Seemed like a lot when across the street they were doing $5 burgers. There are a few other spots in town, we might try one of them if we come back through. Overall, not really sure how this place got all those good reviews. We came here by chance being on vacation and just leaving the Hoover Dam. Mary was exceptional. She seems to run the place by herself aside from the cook. We ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, BLT, philly cheese steak, an omelette, chicken tenders for the kids, a couple of salads, all great!!! The burgers were very juicy, everything was nice and hot.
