Wonderful afternoon at Canvasback!
Spud W.

Canvasback has it all - fantastic wines with snack options, and our host Marjory, was extremely knowledgeable and a delight to hang out with during our visit. Definitely recommend!

Canvasback lived up to its name. Do not miss Canvasback Winery if you love cabernet sauvignons, as this is THE place to visit in Walla Walla for it. Expect all different cab sauvs from local AVAs, including Red Mountain. We had a reservation for a late afternoon on a Saturday for Canvasback and throughout our time here, the place was steady. We were able to snag seats outside, which was nice since you can look out on the grounds. It's right next to a working farm. Also, if you get cold sitting outside, they have comfy, fleece blankets for guests. We each did a tasting, which included four different cabernet sauvignons! We also were able to taste a bonus pour of another cab sauv, which was awesome. You really can't go wrong here with the wines. I would've been happy taking home any one of them. But I don't expect anything less from Canvasback, as they are the sister winery to Napa's Duckhorn Vineyards. Ya heard right! If you love heavy, bold reds, especially cab sauvs, then Canvasback in Walla Walla is a must on your wine-tasting journey. They have a long list of different cab sauvs, in addition to other wines. I'm so glad we were able to experience a tasting here and leave for home with some bottles from here! I'll definitely be back.

a variety of food and wine on a table

Fantastic winery! Came to Walla Walla with a few friends for Labor Day weekend and this was hands down the best location we stopped at. Luis was chatting with us throughout the experience giving his background and constantly willing to go above and beyond to make the time spent fun - he even went and got cornhole/bags from the back room so our group could play. Not only was the service fantastic but we had the chance to try some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon wine I've ever tasted. Truly don't have anything negative to say...already wanting to head back!

Great tasting experience in lovely atmosphere. Some great Cab Sauv's to sample with expertise in narration along the way.

Love this place! For Napa lovers, they are affiliated with Duckhorn and Parradeaux, which I love. They have a gorgeous outdoor area. Fire pit and blankets in comfy Adirondack chairs for cool mornings and umbrellas by all tables for sunny afternoons. Wine is delicious! They pour a welcome white but are known for the reds. We tried both the vertical tasting and the classic. They did a bonus pour of the Grand Passage which they make from the beet lot of grapes. Wine tasting itself is pricey ($20 or $40) but refunded when your purchase a few bottles. Yes, kids are allowed! Our new fav spot!

Best tasting room in Walla Walla. Brianna was our wine specialist, she was fantastic!!! Such a wonderful experience!

Visited Canvasback on Holiday Barrel Tasting Weekend, and appreciated all the tasting straight from the barrel compared with the longer aged wines. Had brisket chili, to pair with the wines, that was to die for! Appreciated getting the opportunity to speak with the wine maker as well during our visit. The outdoor atmosphere was cozy with warm blankets and patio fireplaces! This is a must stop on your walla walla trip!

Had a wonderful experience here yesterday. Great customer service and spaced out due to covid. You get 2 hours with reservation to taste the wines. We had a cab flight. The 2017 Red Mountain Cab and 2016 Walla Cab were my favorites as they had less tannin (prefer to enjoy less acidic cabs). However, all were wonderful! Added bonus The rose was wonderful too :)

Fire pit patio

Great wine and a really good grounds. Fire pit and couches along with some grass area with yard games. Their taste was $15, which is more than average. They provide it in a flight which is nice to compose the differences. Staff was really attentive and took the time to explain the wines, regions and differences. Also very approachable. Or wine snobby at all. Highly recommended and will visit again.

The staff/owner, were incredibly friendly and made us feel truly welcome with her smile The ambience is modern and inviting perfect for enjoying a glass of wine. The restrooms were spotless and stylish, and a thoughtful touch was the dark chocolate in the women's restroom, which was a lovely surprise. I really enjoyed the overall tasting experience. The tasting menu included two reds and one white, all of which were excellent. The most surprising part came at the end, when we were ready to pay and the staff informed us that the tasting was complimentary. We were genuinely shocked and grateful, and we ended up purchasing two bottles.

The…read morereservation process itself was easy, but the number of follow-up emails and text messages was a bit overwhelming. I understand that it's a small, family-run business, but receiving multiple confirmations felt excessive and not quite the relaxed vibe one looks for while on vacation. That said, the property itself is gorgeous and the setting is beautiful both indoors and outdoors. We were seated outside, and the service was fantastic. Our sommelier was friendly, engaging, and made the experience enjoyable. She took the time to sit with on the parties and have a personal one on one chat .The wines themselves were excellent ,we even ended up buying a bottle. Overall, it was a lovely visit, but it's probably not a place I would prioritize returning to on a future trip.

A Memorable Visit - Warm Hospitality, Great Wine, and Dog-Friendly!…read more We visited Kinhaven on a Sunday around 2pm and were immediately greeted by Chris, who was incredibly friendly, charismatic, and knowledgeable about the wines and their vineyard sites. He took the time to make us feel welcome, ensuring we were comfortable at our shaded table (it was around 95°F!) and never rushed us through the tasting. He even remembered our names and gave great recommendations for nearby dinner spots to check out after our visit. We brought our Australian Shepherd along, and he was warmly welcomed as well. They also have their own adorable winery dog, Monty (possibly a Shih Tzu?), who was mostly inside but made an appearance toward the end of our tasting. He's a bit cautious with other dogs but very sweet. We sat outside and enjoyed the peaceful setting. We learned Kinhaven also hosts weddings--there had just been one the night before with about 50 guests dining in the orchard. It sounds absolutely picturesque! As for the wines--every single one we tried was impressively good. The $25 per person tasting fee is waived with the purchase of two bottles, which is more than worth it given the quality. Highly recommend visiting--great wine, thoughtful service, and a relaxing, welcoming environment! Exactly what we were looking for!

I'd suggest giving this one a try as it not only has delicious wines, it's got a great story and fun experience. If you're a Twin Peaks/Kyle MacLachlan fan, you'll love this place. And oh yeah, the wines! They are lovely. It was a carefully chosen and fun tasting experience and I recommend!
