The wine here is amazing and unique, presented in a stimulating tasting room, the "Unofficial Nightclub of Walla Walla". The vibe here is saucy and spicy... just like the wine! Adult coloring books and risqué videos vie for your attention during a tasting, but it comes across in a sex-positive way, and doesn't feel creepy. The wines feature Petit Verdot and Cab Franc, expertly vinted by Spencer Sievers. If you're feeling timid or shy about the atmosphere, just ask to sit at the table in front. The wine here is phenomenal and it is not cheap. We love Tiger's Blood and Swordfight -- but they are so good that I think they sell out fast. Spencer makes really great wine! He is warm and welcoming to all! He has a big giant open heart and the whole town knows him. The vibe is definitely different, but very fun! You are allowed to laugh loudly here. It's unpretentious and casual. When we pulled up on our bikes, Spencer's adorable GF Yadi, came out to help us lock them up and put them in the shade. El Corazon Winery has a different vibe than the other wineries and tasting rooms in Walla Walla - and that's what I like about El Corazon. It really has that Capitol Hill Seattle dive bar scene to it, which is something you will not find around these parts. We visited El Corazon as it was recommended by a local. When we visited it was half an hour before closing, so the employee told us that we could only get a bottle or glass AKA no tastings, which was totally fine with us. The four of us shared a bottle of the Pistolero, which was a red blend. The wine was solid. It was a drinkable red wine, with fruit forward notes and somewhat silky, from the malbec, merlot and cab sauv mix. It wasn't the best wine we had while in town, but it was good. And again, what I like about El Corazon is that it's incredibly chill, laidback and one of those places that don't allow snobs or name-droppers here, which I'm 100% cool with. With that said, if you're in downtown Walla Walla and in search of a spot that's not at all pretentious like some spots around town, then this is it. read more

We hadn't planned to visit this tasting room, but, in search of another carmenere, we were told to check out El Corazon. A somm at another tasting room told us it would be a very "irreverent" tasting room and a lot of fun. It was already late in the day, but El Corazon was happy to squeeze us in. Once we arrived, they were wonderful. They gave us snacks, they poured VERY strong, and they made us feel at home. But now for the bad. For one thing, I'd like the atmosphere more if it was just the kitschy decorations and not the multimedia. For our whole visit, 80s music was blaring pretty loudly. Not like a club, but still a lot louder than I want for a tasting. They were also projecting a Gonzaga game on the wall, which just made it feel more like a sports bar than a tasting. Ultimately, the main problem is the wine. There wasn't a single bottle I wanted to buy. The carmenere we'd been sent to try? Poor. Not even in the same world as the Seven Hills carmenere we'd bought earlier. One of the off-menu wines we tasted at El Corazon was a $100 bottle. What? It tasted like a $25-30 bottle to me. We did buy a single bottle to waive the tasting, but I'm not excited to drink it. read more

Warning: porn videos are played on the main wall of the tasting room... Porn isn't my thing and what I saw at the tasting room on the night we visited (short splices of one straight, one lesbian porn) gave me nightmares the night we'd visited this tasting room. Honestly, I tried not to look over but it was like a car wreck. I was also confused about some scenes and trying to figure out what was going on (I learned you don't actually need a plot in porn). Guess I gotta get out more. Past the porn, the staff (esp the gal from Portland) was really great and a lot friendlier and more fun than any of the other pourers we'd experienced that weekend. I found a ton of randomly weird things to hold my attention (tear it away from the wall-o-porn), and being that I am the poster child for "Squirrel!" or "Look! Something shiny!" that's saying a lot. The artwork throughout was very controversial, but I dug it. Like the Luche Libre mask, which I just had to put on and pose in while holding a taxidermied badger. There was also a painting of a woman in a burka next to a naked woman (culture differences I suppose). Weird, but very interesting. We tasted the 2016 V-Neck Viognier (white), 2014 With Love Syrah, 2014 ViniVidiVici (Mourvedre, Cinsault & Syrah) and the 2015 Swordfight, El Corazon (a Syrah/Mourverde blend). Unfortunately, I found their wines to be a bit thick. My friend, who is more knowledgeable about wines referred to them as "gummy". At the end of the night, this being our last stop, I refrained from the remaining heavy pours, because I could foresee these wines giving me a bit of a hangover. In the end, they did not. For me, this is a place you go once, for shock value. Unlike the other wineries, there is a lot more going on here than just the wine, so if you like the Portland Hawthorne scene or strip clubs and porn, this would be your normal scene. read more

As others have stated, this winery is not for everyone. If you're looking for a "traditional" tasting, this isn't it. The tasting room area is definitely geared to adults. If you're looking for white wine, they only had reds available. But, if you want to have some informal fun with really great people and just relax, well, don't skip El Corazon. We walked down from a local brewery where we had lunch and sat at the bar inside. Aliya greeted us and served us some snacks and water, then walked us through four red wines to taste. We enjoyed the wines and had a bottle while there. Spencer came in and introduced himself to us and sat down to chat. What a fun experience: great conversation, laughs, and an all-around relaxing and just fun time. We took two bottles home and left with new friends and great memories of our day in Walla Walla! read more

In Walla Walla for the weekend, has previously read reviews but didn't think about stopping here. We ended up here on accident on the way to another place. Yes it's risqué..there's adult themed pictures, coloring books and movies on the wall (anything you can find on Netflix). Great place, the tasting room manager was incredibly personable. This "winery" is about the shock value and trying to be different in a sea of wineries. If you like Naked Winery this is the place for you. It's a slightly more scandalous version. They have soft core porn on the wall playing all the time. We came for memories and left with plenty plus a free show. It is the dive bar of wineries in Walla Walla. Walking into the place, you already know it's not your typical wine tasting room. I would dub it more on the eccentric end. I like eccentric. There were people at the counter, so we opted to have our tasting sitting on the couch near the front entrance. The guy manning the bar would pay us a visit frequently enough. I am not the biggest on drinking wines, but my friend J'me really enjoyed it and bought a $50 bottle. They served us goldfish to clean our pallets. No white wines on the tasting menu, but when my other gf asked if they had any whites, he let us try an unmarked bottle he had in the back. It turned out to be pretty good! I really enjoyed the decor of the place. The taxidermy squirrel with the sombrero and the stuffed elephant were my fave. The baby pictures on the wall might have been a little too out there for me lol. But definitely check this place out for a different experience, I will have to come back! read more

Just poor taste executed lowly. We came in to taste with a group of 12 people in our early 30s and not easily offended. After pouring began the movie started on the wall, very porn. We noticed there was a table across the room with a small child with them. When the bar staff was asked to please change the video we were responded to with an annoyed, "what would YOU prefer?!" Right out of the gate Spencer started pouring and talking and laughing... his wines were awesome and we had the BEST time hanging with Spencer and the gang. If you're into wine as snobbery or affectation, this place probably isn't for you, unless you can see past that, to be able to truly appreciate one of the most gifted winemakers working in Washington State today. Don't let the laid-back vibe fool you - this is one of the better wineries in the Walla Walla area. The wines are a treat - the single varietals are left to speak in the best, most bold versions of themselves. The Carmenere, if you're lucky enough to get your hand on a bottle, is beyond special. I know people who've gotten into the best sorts of trouble after drinking this wine. Friends of mine have been known to hoard theirs in basement store-rooms, visiting their stash from time to time and rubbing their hands together like cartoon villains. The limited edition duct-tape varieties? Don't let that low-budget labeling fool you. As special as the Syrah is, the Viognier, the Cab Franc... the blends are diVINE. And if you're lucky enough to get a duct-tape bottle, only share it with your nearest and dearest. This isn't wine for the faint at heart, nor is it wine for just an "associate". This is wine to seal the closest of friendships. Spencer is a gifted wine-maker, but he's not a diva. If he's manning the tasting room, he'll drink right along with you, and give you generous pours. He's like the best of the 90's indie rock-stars, he knows how to earn and keep your loyalty. His fans are his friends and his friends are his fans. Pro-tip: he also gives good hugs. Suggested to us by a pourer at another local winery, we thoroughly enjoyed Spencer and his El Corazon wines! He's got a funky little tasting room, just off the beaten wine tasting path on the outskirts of downtown. El Corazon offers three reds, no tasting fee the weekend we were there and just kept pouring for us each time our glasses were empty. His wines are reasonably priced and delicious! We really felt like we were enjoying a few glasses with new friends, rather than just visiting a wine tasting room. Spencer makes wines for a couple other larger Walla Walla producers (including Reininger Winery) and has a family, on top of running El Corazon. Clearly, he loves what he does because otherwise I don't know how anyone could muster all that energy! Have been a wine club member twice in the last 8 years and usually make it several years before the poor customer service makes me quit. I am sure if you are local there are no issue but out of state beware. Poor response or no response to any email or messages left. Wine club is billed but not shipped for months after billing takes place. Issues with delivery ignored. Makes me sad as I truly love this wine....just can't stand all the problems that go along with getting it. read more

The atmosphere is unique and completely laid back, Josue is very friendly, and the wine is very good (especially the "Swordfight"). We had such a fun time, we decided an encore visit was worthy of our time the next day (which did not disappoint). We were fortunate to meet Spencer, share some soon-to-be released wine, and hear a few good stories about the wine, winemaking, and the wine names.
