I feel like I reviewed this place before but Yelp is giving me a blank slate. Cool! I do like a blank slate. Met a friend here about 4pm on a Saturday because I wanted a lunchy/dinnery/dimsummy type meal and I had dropped the girlies nearby to go swimming. The atmosphere here is basic. Clean. Plain. The menu is extensive. Service is efficient but not fawning or super friendly which I find a-okay. Not sure there is ac but it was not uncomfortable. Ordered dim sum. Everything was tasty and hot. We had: ha gow ( shrimp dumplings) shew my ( pork dumplings) char siu bao (steamed pork buns) stuffed eggplant steamed spareribs with black bean crispy lobster balls I wish we had gotten something green like Chinese broccoli or pea shoots ( next time!) but otherwise I have no complaints. Companion took leftovers home. It is not the best dim sum I've ever had (um Hong Ah tearoom in SFO in my early childhood) but given the Tigard context I would say it is not bad. We have been looking for three years a really good Chinese Resturant. Most of the places that came highly recommended were good, but the food lacked flavor. We just happened to drive past Canton Phoenix and stopped and took home a menu. Tonight we gave it a try. We had the Mongolian Chicken and Mu Shu Pork with the plum sauce. Amazing!! The food was outstanding, delicious and gone with in seconds of the first bite. Next time I promise we will eat slowly and savor the amazing flavors. Just had the takeout Family Dinner, "D" for two. Only thing good was the fried Shrimp--- lucky for us there was four each, the only thing edible. One, very small spring roll each (?) which tasted ok. Four total very small fried pork's. The meat on the other two main courses were tough and the rice was mush. The ingredients had been in the pans for hours! $37.50 + $3.00 dollar tip. I ordered Honey Walnut Shrimp, Salt & Pepper Wings, Chicken Fried Rice & Hot and Sour Soup ( just to fill my stomach ). I bet everyone would be upset if they gave you a long time for pickup like 1HR. The staff are extremely middle aged people and yet some people can't seem to give them a break... Yes. Time is extremely important and something you will never get back but taking a few minutes to sit down and understand that sometimes the staff will mess up with save you wonders! They also have the same occupying staff out front. They work hard, and sometimes if you catch them on a busy day then it's going to stressful & mistakes are going to happen. If they make a mistake, you shouldn't see it as a bad place and oh how "They've done a lot of mistakes." but a place where they work hard to get orders out and stop acting like you are the priority just because you are the customer. News Flash, you are just an average person who wants food. This is also a family owned restaurant, not a big chain company restaurant. Not only did my boyfriend get food poisoning but I accidentally left my purse ($400 cash with my id and all my debit cards) when picking up take out and when I showed up to ask about my purse they didn't want to check the cameras, they were no help whatsoever I am sure however worked that shift kept it! 3 stars for bar/karaoke. Karaoke nights in the bar are actually kinda fun and a mellow and diverse crowd from the old folks from King city, Bull Mt drinkers (can cruise home and avoid cops) to some younger Tigard folk. Decor is still weird, but the food tastes better after you've swilled some vodka. 2 stars for lunch. FYI - they don't have lunch specials on weekends - big difference in price on b/c you have to order dinner. Oh well. Never and probabaly won't ever have their dinner which is totally based on my lunch experiences. It's not terribly bad, but that leaves it pretty darn far from good. Presentation is visually challenged (colors are muted and lots of tan and red from the sweet n sour sauce). Portions are not huge and they're stingy with the fried rice which I find odd. The deep fried shrimp was actually the best part of my meals. BBQ pork is kinda orange/grey so I avoid it as I know a place close by with outstanding BBQ pork. My mom came with me the last 2 times I was there and she enjoyed it, (she's in her mid 70s) - so there's that - thumbs up for senior tastebuds. Also, always old Christmas decor up all year round? It was Okay. Its not a place im going to rush and have a meal. but! ... wait for it .... The Crab Puffs aka crab rangoons, are YUMMMY!! The service seemed a bit slow, but they also seemed under staffed. Eveyone was friendly and checked on us as they ran by. Food took about 25 minutes to come out which was find, we weren't in any sort of rush and we were busy enjoying the soup, egg drop. Tasty but i have had better. This review is just for the restaurant, not for the lounge. Extremely hit or miss but they never devein (de-poop) their shrimp. Ever. It's disgusting. The food quality is better when you're at the restaurant (they'll still serve you poopy shrimp in person though). But don't count on enjoying your food if you order take out or delivery. I had to get a refund from Grubhub for my most recent order from this place. I've never been more repulsed by a delivery order in my life. Updatex2: Not only did we get a rude delivery woman, we found red string imbedded in our shumai dim sum. Thought it was a thin carrot or something, until I kept on pulling on it. Won't be eating here for a while. Update: still ordering from here on lazy nights. Gotta say, having them deliver is awesome. Having their driver get mad at you for not answering the phone immediately is not. We frequently order takeout from here when we're too lazy to cook or have an empty fridge. It's really convenient. We've only had our order messed up once or twice (got something we didn't order, or our order didn't get put in when we called), but it was really not a big deal because it got corrected or we just had to wait a bit longer. Compared to all the times our order was perfect, these errors in our past orders obviously did not deter us away. I was excited to have a place relatively close that serves dim sum all the time. The dim sum was fine. I had pork buns, deep fried lobster roll (mostly shrimp), shrimp with chives (the best one), and the stuffed jalapeños. My husband had the happy family- which I think was better than what I ordered. All that and a dirty martini was $30, which is a deal. Overall I had higher hopes, but this was standard Chinese, which is fine. But not good enough for a return visit. read more

We've been getting food from here for a while but there's been some changes. The seating area in the restaurant is closed so you can only do take out. The register area is dark except for a couple of super bright spotlights. It has a weird feel to it. The prices have gone up but the quality has gone down. It's like they are in a rush and just kind of throw everything together. We ordered and paid for extra sweet and sour sauce but none was given. I recommend this very enjoyable restaurant. Before we went we read some of the other reviews posted to Yelp, and many of them seemed to complain of rude service. We did not find that to be the case at all. Our waitress and our host were both very kind, cordial, and serving. Our waitress was very sweet. A pleasant person. She was mindful of checking in on us, but not too much, and always ready to refill tea and water. The food was good too. The dim sum, in particular. Delightful. Even the tea seemed better than your more typical garden-variety green tea. Was also very pleased that hot and sour soup was offered as an alternative to the of the usual egg drop soup that comes with the dinner combination. We were given a couple of different sweet and sour sauces for our shrimp and chicken. Nice touch. I would describe both the shrimp and the chicken as light, fluffy and tasteful. read more

This review is for the owner and restaurant manager: I really want to like this restaurant because their food is good and it's nice to have real dim sum in Tigard... BUT... and this is a big "but" because I've been coming here for 3.5 years now and this has been an ongoing problem: The quality of service in the restaurant (even for take out) does NOT justify the increased prices. After tonight, I am now convinced that this business will happily take your money without reciprocating with even the minimal appropriate value. I placed a phone order for "salted fish & chicken with eggplant clay pot". The man said that they still don't have salted fish (which is the primary flavor for this dish). So I asked if he could substitute it with another fish and he pretended not to understand English (even though he's taken many orders from me in the past). So I asked if he could just add a little extra chicken to make up for not having fish, and he seemed to agree. I get to the restaurant and a thin Chinese lady brought out the bag of food without any utensils and napkins. She was abrupt and acted like my presence was an inconvenience to her. She didn't ask me if I needed any napkins or anything. A tall white man happened walked through and noticed me staring into my bag. He kindly asked me if I had everything I needed. I asked him for chopsticks and he came back with both chopsticks and napkins. That was good. But then I get home and my "salted fish & chicken with eggplant" might as well have been "eggplant with chicken". IT WAS ALL EGGPLANT, with meager portions of tiny, diced chunks of chicken. That was $13.95. I could have made this at home myself! I couldn't believe they charged me full price without offering to somehow make up for the missing main ingredients Add that to the abrupt and neglectful service of the skinny woman, and you can see why one might think this restaurant will gladly take your money without bothering to offer even the minimum expectations. Probably like most people I found this place through Groupon, and I'm glad I did. I was raised in the Bay Area where Chinese food restaurants were abundant. When I moved to the Pacific Northwest 15 years ago, I had many different endeavors trying to find a "good" Chinese place to eat at on a regular basis. Out of the 15 years here, I probably found maybe three that I wouldn't mind coming back to, and Canton Phoenix is one of them. I'm a sucker for "Hong Kong style" chow mein, because I have found very few (currently only two places, including this place) that makes it the way I vividly recall enjoying it back in the Bay Area. I have been to this place probably five times now and ordered it every time. In other visits I have enjoyed the General Tso's Chicken, Crab Puffs, and Kung Pao Chicken. Their English is not perfect but the food is great. They have opened a new location in Wilsonville but they don't offer the same menu as the Tigard location (no "Hong Kong style" chow mein?!). I was craving dim sum but didn't want to drive the extra hour for HK Cafe so Yelp found me this place! My first impression was of disappointment since there was only one big family dining and the cart only had about 7 items. My oh my was I surprised when I bit into those tasty morsels!!!!! The food here is almost comparable to HK Cafe and everything was piping hot even though the dim sum scene was slow here!!!! Their homemade hot oil smelled of blissful romance as I blended it with soy sauce for dipping, and the free pot of tea just brings together the full experience that is dim sum! My personal favorite dim sum are the chicken feet and chee cheong fun rolls. Although it was slightly lacking from the best, the chicken feet were nice and tender and the fun rolls were savory and meaty! Although the atmosphere makes my 3 star rating sensors tingle, this restaurant definitely deserves far more credit than its current rating. The service was lacking, forgot our soup and our fried rice. We only ordered 5 items, so forgetting two is pretty bad. It was Christmas Eve, and they were pretty busy with to go orders, but I felt that they neglected everyone inside eating. The fried shrimp was good, the hot and sour soup was mediocre but I have had worse. We got a chicken dish and a beef dish, both tasted good, but the meet is lacking in texture and honestly we were pretty sure it was canned meat. . If it's not canned it's very poor quality of meat. They are serving old stale food here. Including the bottled sodas. Mine is dated 7/11/22 and it's 9/16/22. The sweet and sour chicken tastes like the breading is stale. The bread noodles in the chow mein was definitely stale. The shrimp are not deveined......after taking a few bites I felt sick. I didn't finish it. I wanted a refund but didn't have time to go back. In addition to all of this, they had old flyers posted on the windows dating back to 2019 and they had up old Christmas decorations and it's the beginning of September. The way your restaurant looks is a representation of what you serve. If you are neglecting your building, then you are neglecting your business, this, bad old food. To add to this, when I first arrived, the older man continued to watch me. I don't know why, I hate to blame race , but I am Black. The amount that they are charging people for food and drinks but serving old items is unacceptable. They need to be reported and shut down. I ended up eating a maple bar for lunch. We loved the tofu Kong pow. It was technically listed as spicy, but I'll order it with extra heat next time. The eggplant was pretty plain, but great texture. I enjoyed the loose tea leaf tea, less common to see anymore. The staff was very busy and having take out pick up issues during our stay. I had almost given up on this restaurant after I ordered through Uber eats and they got two of the big orders wrong ; then the lady that took the order was so rude when I drove there to get it, she was a nightmare. But the last couple of times that I have ordered have been really,really good. I have gotten my complete order since then. Tonight it was almost 10 PM and I wondered if they would still do a good job in sending my food and sure enough when I got it everything was very hot and it didn't taste like it had been sitting around all day. The chow mein was fresh and crunchy and delicious. The rice was perfect it wasn't hard and it didn't taste like it had been sitting around. I was really impressed that everything was very good. I feel like I got less chicken this time than I have the last couple of times but it was always too much chicken anyway. I still don't think you should order the Kung Pao chicken. They started using some stuff that I don't know if it's actually chicken. But I got the pork chow mein and fried rice and some fried shrimp and And some sweet-and-sour chicken and eggroll and it was all very very good. Even at 10 o'clock at night and it only took 30 minutes to get here. The orange chicken is horrible when it's delivered. It is extremely mushy and soft and flavorless it is pretty pointless to even try to eat. We love their mapo tofu (ask for it spicy) , dim sum, & wonton soup! We always order ahead because the dim sum takes more time to prepare. They always seem busy but in a good away. Just stopped by for a quick dinner here today. It was our first time. I really liked the decor. It wasnt too busy for a Sunday evening, and the workers seem very attentive. My daughter and I had our "usual"...which was wonton noodle soup--we automatically want that if it is offered at any chinese restaurant. We are from Hawaii, and wonton noodle soup or "saimin" is a big deal to us. Our food was good! I still prefer Good Taste in Aloha's broth, but I like these guys portion size and customer service better! I liked that traditional oolong tea was served, but didnt see any chinese mustard.
