There are a few recognizable names among the collection such as Mark Rothko and Keith Haring. I visited the museum in March of 2026 and it was my first visit to the museum. My bf and I were done in about 75 minutes. Adult tickets are $12 with some discounts offered to seniors, children, the military, and locals. We saw some impressive pieces, including a gorgeous installation that featured taxidermied peacocks that was definitely the showstopper among every visitor that day. We were bummed that a large section was closed off in preparation for an upcoming exhibit. It meant a lot of non special exhibit art was not viewable to us. A heads up and/or a discount would have been nice. Meanwhile, a viewable exhibit with a gorgeous Tiffany glass window installation was almost missed entirely by us because the doors to get to it were covered up by curtains, giving off the impression that it was closed. Fortunately, we walked through the curtains out of curiosity and saw the glass piece but many others in the museum walked right by it. A sign letting people know that the space was open would be a good idea! The art museum store was closed by the time we were done but from the outside, it looked like a pretty good, if pretty typical, art museum gift shop. Unique to see the Kent State Shooting without Jeffrey Miller. Lovely to see a Calder and a Magritte here as well. Don't miss the facade of the building which itself is an art piece. We saw the Rubber Ducks were in town (or, is it Rubberducks, all one word?), so we figured we'd take in a game. We've been to several minor league ballparks in the past, but Canal Park might literally be the best one so far! It's right in the heart of downtown Akron, which doesn't initially "feel" like where baseball should be played. (Historically speaking, though, it's spot-on!) But, this place fits in perfectly with its surroundings. Because it's a smaller stadium, you're almost on the field, it feels! There doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the joint, and it is very easy to walk around and soak in the atmosphere. My one minor complaint was how small the team store is, but that's honestly kind of true at most minor league places. They had to limit the number of patrons, though, but the line moved quickly. No more than 5 minutes tops. The concessions were out of the ordinary and out of this world in some cases! We had read up on them before going. Be sure to look up "canal park extreme food" before going. Trust me, you'll thank me. At least you'll know what you're in for! We got "The Screamer," which is a 21-scoop 5-pound sundae served in a full-sized batting helmet. Yes, you read that correctly. No, I am not making that up. I added the picture to verify that I did not go insane. It was WAY TOO MUCH for the three of us to even put a dent in! We might have gotten through 40% of it... maybe... but I don't think so. It's a bit of a shame, though, because we wound up wasting a lot of it. If you're going to order this, be sure to bring at least 6 people who don't mind eating out of the same giant bowl. Maybe 4 really hungry people? Good luck. They have other extreme foods there, but we weren't able to get to any others. Shot our bolt on the sundae! But, anyway... Concession prices are very affordable, at least compared to major league prices. You can definitely find some bargains here as well. So, you have an intimate setting, reasonable prices, great seats, extreme foods, and a great ticket prices. I don't know what more you could ask for. This was an absolutely wonderful experience, one that we would readily do again without question!

We really liked the special Circus exhibit. There was also a Family Fest going on outside today, so we were able to enjoy that, as well. We got some art and craft projects in; pet some animals; and even got some complimentary books from the library. And don't forget the bouncy house and the inflatable slide! It was an enjoyable day and I appreciate all that the Massillon community put into this event and into the museum itself.

My family was fascinated by the old streetcars and learning about how Cleveland's Rapid system started. The museum has a huge collection of restored rail cars and it's a very peaceful, outdoor setting. It's one of the best educational things to do in Medina County. If you're a railfan or just looking for a cool local spot to explore on a Saturday, put this on your list. Affordable, educational, and run by people who truly care about preserving history. Rides are only offered on the second and fourth Staurdays of each month.

Only open one day a week, the museum has two sets of buildings containing a number of their rolling stock and another group of rolling stock exposed to the elements. I totally enjoyed talking about our experiences visiting other rail museums in the country. In the future, the museum hopes to run a track with a live overhead wire and one can see the work in progress. Each of the housed rolling stock has a placard with all the information a railfan could want. The museum is free and one is given a personal tour with a member.

Shakespeare's plays aren't specimens to examine under a microscope--they're living stories that come alive when talented actors perform them. Want proof? Experience Shakespeare the way it was meant to be enjoyed: outdoors on a summer evening, drink in hand, shouting "Huzzah!" with the crowd as a talented local troupe breathes fresh life into centuries-old scripts. That's exactly what my daughter and I found on an enchanting Sunday evening at Stan Hywet Hall, where the Ohio Shakespeare Festival's "As You Like It" came to life as dark rain clouds mercifully passed overhead, sparing us a downpour. From twinkle-lit brick pathways to moss-covered stone walls and turrets where actors rested between scenes, the gardens of Stan Hywet transport audiences away from the everyday into the magical world of the Bard. Here, love strikes instantly, dialogue dances in rhyme and meter, and fools somehow manage to speak the deepest truths. Though Shakespeare's language sounds foreign to modern audiences, OSF's expressive physicality and vocal intonation make the story easy to follow. Rather than translating Shakespeare, the company invites audiences to understand him naturally. The physical comedy of Touchstone, played with perfect timing by the purple-bearded Brian Pedaci, and Audrey, hilariously portrayed by Hannah Storch, drew waves of laughter from the audience. As Orlando, Trevor Buda impressed--and occasionally terrified--me with his athleticism. When Orlando swung beneath the balcony from a cleverly concealed set of monkey bars, I wondered whether the structure would hold. Fortunately, Buda also doubles as one of the company's carpenters, so he clearly trusted his own handiwork. Buda's earnest, gentlemanly Orlando paired beautifully with Sabrina Maristela's energetic and thoroughly lovable Rosalind. They even made a skeptic like me believe in love at first sight--at least for three fanciful hours. What lingers with me a few days later, though, is the feeling that this company genuinely enjoys performing together. The ensemble feels less like a cast and more like a family inviting you into its after-supper, before-bed entertainment. That sense of warmth and close-knit community is especially refreshing in an age when genuine shared experiences seem increasingly rare. "As You Like It" runs Thursday through Sunday evenings through July 26. Arrive early for the Green Show, where a dozen performers offer a relaxed, audience-driven pre-show that adds another half hour of laughter before the main event. "Macbeth" will follow from August 6 through August 23 (2026). Don't let the trauma of reading "Romeo and Juliet" next to the creepiest boy in your ninth-grade English class keep you from discovering what Shakespeare was always meant to be. Spend an evening laughing under the stars, surrounded by gardens, actors, and neighbors. Let the Ohio Shakespeare Festival convince you that Shakespeare is still well worth the effort.

The actors were enthusiastic and talented, and the performance was very well done. They stick to the language, but did a great job translating some of the passages through tone and body language. The Green Show prior to the main show was a lot of fun - humor and dancing and mock fighting, with some improv thrown in to really show their range. Definitely a fun experience!
