1932 Lincoln in final stages of restoration at the Canton Classic Car Museum
    Don H.

The Canton Classic Car Museum is a hidden gem. My wife and I visited it because we happened to be in Canton, staying a few blocks from the museum. I was expecting to see some interesting cars but, frankly, I wasn't expecting too much. The website doesn't do the museum justice. There is a great collection of beautifully restored cars, many from the 1930s but others as well. One of the restorers took us on a guided tour that made the visit so much more interesting. He invited us to visit the shop across the street where they were in the process of restoring several 1932 Lincolns. It was very special to see the works in progress. The detail with which these cars are restored is truly remarkable. The museum also has very many historical items unrelated to cars. There's a lot here to see and it's very well worth a visit.

OMG this place is awesome. Old ford dealership turned into the founder's dream garage, classic car & vintage memorabilia/nostalgia repository in canton. Started in the 1940's as I recall, wall to wall Americana, American pickers would go ape shut in here. All the stuff they like to prospect from their TV show in pristine condition!! The boss lady in the office was super nice, as was the front door man, she mentioned she thought of calling those guys but she'd have to have something for them to pick! I was really pleasantly surprised. Beautiful old building, very historic. I'm a car guy & I've been to a bunch of dinky musty boring ass old car collections and this is not that. Really worth a look. Canton is a haul from the burbs in CLE but I would def go back!! It's really all the other stuff all over the place that makes it unique. Mannequins, dolls about the place, the kind that come alive at night HA! I've seen those dolls around before. Either the museum took them to a cruise-in or they're following me around. I won an auction at WHBC Canton radio across the street so I pop in there to pick it up, another historic old office inside, the heart of the radio station buzzing with activity. Guitars on the walls, reminded me of an old time movie theatre. A 1950's blast from the past if u ever get a chance take a look in there. I can Imagine that would be a fun place to work. Then I visit the car museum after. $7.50 it was, check out the pics WORTH IT!!

The entrance is on this corner of he building. You can park there or across the street.

Yes, this is long, but I mean it when I say you can go to this section of Canton and spend a good part of your day checking out classic cars. I would say this is 4 star museum, but I'm making this review 5 stars due to the 1 star review left by Jim. This is definitely better than 1 star if you have any interest in cars or history in general. There are a number of very interesting classic cars ranging from the early days of automobiles (even cars made in Canton) up to the muscle car era. No there are not a massive number of cars but more than enough to warrant the admission price. There are some nice vintage bicycles in here as well. Like Jim said there is a lot of memorabilia, not junk in my opinion, from Canton and the surrounding areas. It's not randomly placed or thrown around the museum but there is a lot of it up on shelves and placed thoughtfully throughout the museum. And the cashier that I spoke with was very interested in cars and we chatted about what he wanted to restore when he got the time, a kind, genuine car guy. This is across the street from the WHBC radio station (94.1 FM and 1480 AM) a very cool Art Deco style building worth looking at. And if you don't mind walking a few minutes over to the McKinley Grand Hotel, go down the basement level there. That's where the Motorcar Portfolio is, a classic car dealership. They have a number of great classic cars there, not all museum quality, but a constantly varied set of cars to look at. The folks over there are kind too and are more than happy to answer questions about the cars (and sometimes trucks) that they have.

My favorite car. Isn't it beautiful?

Looking for one more thing to do in Canton before heading home. This place was pretty cool. The cars themselves are very impressive. However in addition, they have taken great effort to add so many other funny and interesting memorabilia. The staff was friendly and made us feel comfortable.

The building contains Canton Ballet, Sing Stark, and ArtsinStark. You can have an entire cultural adventure in the same space. That's exactly what my experience was. I visited the center for St Nicholas Balalaika performance, and discovered that the building had this museum. I love art and so I HAD TO stop in. SPACE: The museum doors are accessible through the Cultural Center for the Arts. You can peek through large windows to get a lot at some art at the Cultural Center for the Arts. The museum has multiple rooms of art. There is plenty of room to explore. The museum also has a small souvenir shop. ADMISSION: Regular adult admission is $8. Free admission is available every Thursday and first Friday of every month. ART: The art museum has a space with gorgeous sculptures. There are also art works for sale in the foyer. Few striking pieces are available. The main exhibit space is displayed in multiple rooms. The current exhibition is Shattered Glass: The Women Who Elevated American Art (on display until March 1). To be honest, prior to the visit here I was only able to name Gloria O'Keefe as a renowned female artist. This exhibit expanded my horizons. There were so many famous and global women artists. It's a very empowering exhibit. You'll even find the renowned "Migrant Mother" photograph. The art includes digital art room. Plan for extra time to look at every piece of art and read every single story. Also, linger by the guestbook available in the galleries. There are beautiful reflections about the exhibit. Leave your own. SERVICE: I was blown away with the service here! I've been to museums in various parts of the work, and this one was the friendliest. I arrived during the last 30 minutes of their work day. The staff welcomed me with open arms. They were friendly, informative, and invited me back. It was an excellent experience. PARKING: There is a surface lot by the center. There is also a parking garage to accommodate visitors. I look forward to returning to the museum for events and exhibits. This museum is such a gem, more people should talk about it. I loved my time there - the art, the hospitality, and the new perspective about women artists.

Definitely make some time for the live presentations they do every hour. We saw the evolution of helmets, defect or not defunct teams, and odd objects from football. These penetrations were only 20- minutes, but we learned a lot! Logistics: 1. Canton is 1-hr drive south of Cleveland. Allocate at least 2.5-3 hrs to do the museum and the presentations. We could have easily stayed another hour, but we ran out of time. There's also a football village around the hall of fame with restaurants and a Ferris wheel to explore, so you could easily downs a half day here. 2. Buy the combo ticket if you plan on doing both the rock and roll and nfl pro football hall of fame. It's $65 and will save you $10+ vs buying tickets individually. Highlights 1. Hall of fame busts were really breathtaking. I can't wait to come back in 20-years to see recent players in more familiar with 2. Exhibit in the latest Super Bowl winners (Philly Eagles) 3. Goose bumps for life indeed! My dream came true as I got to visit and spend some great time in this epic institution and meet my heroes in person. The beautiful displays, the uniforms and helmets from 1925; the ability to design and make my own Super Bowl ring, the write ups about players and teams I did not know much about( 32 teams), the inspiring videos with that music, Steve Sabol's voice. On to comparing my scrawny bony arse 209 lb physique to those of these Greek Godesque superheroes. Then there is the fun and spunky staff that is a walking and talking encyclopedia of sports info. They love football and it is so fitting to have them be our hosts and guides. There is so much more. You need a good 7 hours to truly enjoy and take in all this magical place offers. Parking is $25 per car( cash only) and $200 for an RV. This is a must experience for every NFL fan stateside and also for our new fans in Europe and South America. Love the NFL!
