Well worth the price. This festival was held in the trees so you were shaded from the sun in most places. It was the humidity that was a killer. Tough wearing a mask but I would never not wear one. I saw a few other people with them too. They had all kinds of vendors, from candles, soaps, honey, home decor, quilts, and many more. They had demonstrations going on and dancers. The dancers we saw looked to be in 70's to 80's they were adorable. We enjoyed that. Food was the normal fair type food, we had a steak hoagie with fries, hot dog and then you can't leave without dessert. Funnel cake and deep fried Oreos. I would definitely return if I was visiting at the time it was here.

Everything: iron garden art, photography, knitted items, ornaments, glassware. There is ample parking and a modest entry fee. Make sure you bring a lot of money with you because items are nice in quality and it gets expensive!! Even on a cold, rainy day in October, the place was packed! It's $10 per adult to get inside, kids 12 and under are free. We went with our family and kiddos and it was great. No issues with pushing our stroller around. However, it can be tricky to buy things for the little ones stockings in they're hanging around so bring someone to provide childcare with you if you decide to bring littles!! There is a Santa Claus, live music and lots of food for sale. We had pierogis, kielbasa sauerkraut sandwiches, Mac and cheese, doughnuts, cherry strudel, chicken wings, pulled pork sandwiches and hot chocolate for lunch during our visit. Everything tasted good! I would definitely go back and bring more $ specifically cash next year!!

The Ohio Swiss Festival (and now Wine and Cheese "party") is a fun distraction from the knowledge…read morethat winter in Ohio is around the corner. Depending on the weather patterns, it can be chilly and rainy or, as it was this past weekend, warm and sunny. It's held the last Friday and Saturday in September and amounts to a parade, row of food vendors, a tent or building where you can buy locally made cheeses, local shops in the village of Sugarcreek open for browsing (which can be done any day), Swiss competitions (steinstossen, etc), music from local oompah bands and loads of people watching. This year was the first where I've seen some of the local wineries combined with the cheese vendors to create a very cool small scale wine tasting. It's not a full day's worth of activities, but given the location, with the drive, some local shopping, and dinner, you're doing the whole day. Don't miss out on getting some cheese. The swiss is to die for. Also consider taking a walk through Andreas furniture store. Finally, if you're bored with the festival, continue on the way down OH-39 and follow the signs to Berlin. There are loads of Amish shops and restaurants there. The countryside is quite scenic too.

It took us almost 2 hours (yes, you read that correctly) to go 2 miles to get into the venue. We sat in traffic anxiously awaiting our arrival. That was our only bad experience during our trip there. Maybe have someone directing traffic at the stop light? That seemed to be the main problem with the traffic congestion. Once you make it inside of the venue it's fantastic! It's honestly like a time warp. You walk into the woods and most of the employees are dressed in old time clothing. They have tons of vendors from multiple different states. They have live demos with craftsman showing off their skills as well as musical entertainment. They do have delicious food stands to choose from as well. But be prepared to wait in line. We stood in line for about 30-45 for our lunch. You wouldn't think that many people would be out in the woods in the middle of nowhere looking at crafts but boy was I wrong. There had to be multiple of thousands of people there. My favorite stand (pictured) was filled with herbs and spices. A close second was the plant nursery. They really do have something for everyone here. I should add that it's $10 a person to get in and you literally park in a field. It can be a struggle walking from the field parking into the venue if you are handicapped. They did offer handicap parking, but it was completely filled whenever we arrived. They offer a golf cart ride for people that are handicapped, but they just couldn't assist everyone who needed it. Anyways, I would definitely recommend checking this festival out. We are already planning on attending the next festival for Christmas!

I was new to the area so did not realize Lock 3 was basically at the college campus. Then means that the vast majority of the buildings and what few restaurants were around are based on college being in session. So the trip was a little of a bust. Also did not go during the judging. Second trip went a little later in the afternoon but I went way to early to hear the bands play. So it was still fun, lots of great food, but only so so experience. So this last trip, went about 6:30 pm. Lots of space to still put up your chairs. Food and crowd were great. Managed to eat all the BBQ and funnel cake one needs. Grabbed some drinks sat down and listened to the band. Then when we were treated to one of the best fireworks experience I have ever had. It is not that they are New York quality, but they are still great and in your face close. It was amazing. the show went on for about 15 - 20 minutes. Once it was over and time to go, it took a few minutes to get the cars in the garage moving, but once all of the police were in place, it was off to the races and we were able to get out and down the street in short order. Police did a great job.

Ordered up a pulled pork sandwich meal with cornbread, slaw, & beans. Surprised that the sandwich came "pre-sauced", but added some of their spicy sauce to my sandwich & beans. This meal was WAY more than I needed for lunch. The pulled pork was smoky, saucy, and tasty. A little fatty, but still de-lish. The slaw was kind of sweet, & had bits of pineapple in it - a sure change of pace, and good. Cornbread was soft & sweet, almost cake-like. A little too much so, but good. Beans were mediocre, glad I spiced them up with sauce. Hope to return to the festival again before it ends. Need to check out some other competitors!

You can view the house beginning at 7pm the Friday after Thanksgiving through January 1, from 5-11PM. This display stays true to the movie. The house is covered with 250 stands of lights; 100 bulbs per strand; for a grand total of 25,000 imported Chinese twinkle lights. They also have Santa, the eight tiny reindeer, and the Merry Christmas sign, Uncle Eddie's RV, the pool model and a pile of "trash" with remnants of the Griswold's festivities (the charred chair, the shredded sled, the burnt tree). They even have a radio station (102.3 FM) that plays songs and sound clips from the movie. It is free to view the display but they accept donations. All the donations go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk in Akron, which they have participate in each May (Team name is: The Griswolds). Visitors can donate at a drop box in their front yard. Or if you don't have any cash, there is a QR code on the sign at the display that you can scan and it will also take you directly to the donation website. It does not take much time to go through the display and contrary to what you may see online, the display is only outdoors. There is no indoor portion. You want spend much time at the house, but it is still an amazing site. I love the "ditto" lights on the neighbors house. We spent about 20 minutes there. We were thorough. Some people just do a drive-by, but since we came all the way from Indianapolis, we made the party last a bit longer. Please keep in mind that their neighbors must be really cool, but be courteous and do not park in, turn around in or block their drive ways. Also turn your lights off when you approach the house. This is a great thing, operated by great people, for a great cause. I highly recommend stopping by and getting some of the Christmas spirit, even if you are not familiar with the movie.
