An awesome mid-size aviation museum. In town for an event, we happened to see the sign for this on the highway. I had no idea there was an air museum up here. The next day Sweetie and I stopped by. We didn't have long, and she was tired so she only came in for a few minutes before going to the car to rest. We happened to come on the day of their pancake breakfast, so it was pretty busy. I'm sure things had been rearranged, too, to accomodate the tables. It was still laid out pretty well, with lots of planes inside along with engines, missiles, you name it. Good info on the displays too. Outside, many planes were lined up, with quite a few opened up. (I assume these came from inside.) Mainly military, since that is the mission of the museum (Military Aircraft Preservation Society,) though there are a few civilian planes. There's a fair-sized gift shop with a good selection and quite a few books and models. I would come back in a heartbeat. I'm glad they're doing well.

I have seen a lot of museums, but MAPS is clearly off the better ones! They do a better job of giving a full picture, of over several wars and the people, both men and women, who served in military and volunteers. In equipment IT is very well displayed and portray in the real planes and light weapons and their models! Last time here they also had a few classic planes do a fly in and even offered actual flights in some. Now MAPS have grown to have many planes outside. Their size and numbers being too big for their large buildings! The building still has several planes inside were you get up close and personal with them! The Massillon Military Museum closed, but gave MAPS their collection of displays! MAPS has a second floor dedicated to those excellent displays easily accessible by elevator! MAPS also has a section for noted Hero's of several wars! Complete with personal and military equipment used by these men and women. Our group of seven (5 women, 2 men) were all impressed with the Museum! Important items to note: they have several tour guides that can take several groups through and give interesting facts about various items and people! They can allow people to operate an aircraft gun (no shooting, LOL) that makes it fun to observe or do! Restrooms are clean, floors were kept clean. There is plenty of parking up close in their parking lots! They have several handicap parking as well! The whole place is handicap accessible! Some short stairs may be a problem for a few! Their gift shop is large with a wide variety of items from Noel's to clothing and much in-between. See my many pictures!

This museum is amazing. A guide for a tour is available upon request or you are welcome to tour on your own. A guide is able to give you little interesting tidbits as you go along, but everything is clearly labeled with details. It's a good trip for the family. There are even planes that people are welcome to climb into and out of the get a better idea of what it would have been like for the pilots of the time. The little hall of heroes is a marvelous way to help convey the stories of our war heroes of all races and genders from World War I to Vietnam. There is a small area dedicated to more current heroes from Iraq. MAPS seems to concentrate more on World War II, as we still have a few Veterans alive today to help preserve this history. I highly recommend a trip to MAPS.

    Awesome displays!

A hidden gem in Canton. A slice of military history honoring all branches of service! You can get up close and even sit in some of the displays.

Definitely make some time for the live presentations they do every hour. We saw the evolution of helmets, defect or not defunct teams, and odd objects from football. These penetrations were only 20- minutes, but we learned a lot! Logistics: 1. Canton is 1-hr drive south of Cleveland. Allocate at least 2.5-3 hrs to do the museum and the presentations. We could have easily stayed another hour, but we ran out of time. There's also a football village around the hall of fame with restaurants and a Ferris wheel to explore, so you could easily downs a half day here. 2. Buy the combo ticket if you plan on doing both the rock and roll and nfl pro football hall of fame. It's $65 and will save you $10+ vs buying tickets individually. Highlights 1. Hall of fame busts were really breathtaking. I can't wait to come back in 20-years to see recent players in more familiar with 2. Exhibit in the latest Super Bowl winners (Philly Eagles) 3. Live presentations

A fan's dream , especially this fan of six plus decades-is to soak in everything about this beautiful and inspiring sport - from attending the Super Bowls to meeting the great players to getting to be part of the Hall of Fame festivities and being in the presence of greatness - 384 Hall of Fame legends. Goose bumps for life indeed! My dream came true as I got to visit and spend some great time in this epic institution and meet my heroes in person. The beautiful displays, the uniforms and helmets from 1925; the ability to design and make my own Super Bowl ring, the write ups about players and teams I did not know much about( 32 teams), the inspiring videos with that music, Steve Sabol's voice. On to comparing my scrawny bony arse 209 lb physique to those of these Greek Godesque superheroes. Then there is the fun and spunky staff that is a walking and talking encyclopedia of sports info. They love football and it is so fitting to have them be our hosts and guides. There is so much more. You need a good 7 hours to truly enjoy and take in all this magical place offers. Parking is $25 per car( cash only) and $200 for an RV. This is a must experience for every NFL fan stateside and also for our new fans in Europe and South America. Love the NFL!

The building contains Canton Ballet, Sing Stark, and ArtsinStark. You can have an entire cultural adventure in the same space. That's exactly what my experience was. I visited the center for St Nicholas Balalaika performance, and discovered that the building had this museum. I love art and so I HAD TO stop in. SPACE: The museum doors are accessible through the Cultural Center for the Arts. You can peek through large windows to get a lot at some art at the Cultural Center for the Arts. The museum has multiple rooms of art. There is plenty of room to explore. The museum also has a small souvenir shop. ADMISSION: Regular adult admission is $8. Free admission is available every Thursday and first Friday of every month. ART: The art museum has a space with gorgeous sculptures. There are also art works for sale in the foyer. Few striking pieces are available. The main exhibit space is displayed in multiple rooms. The current exhibition is Shattered Glass: The Women Who Elevated American Art (on display until March 1). To be honest, prior to the visit here I was only able to name Gloria O'Keefe as a renowned female artist. This exhibit expanded my horizons. There were so many famous and global women artists. It's a very empowering exhibit. You'll even find the renowned "Migrant Mother" photograph. The art includes digital art room. Plan for extra time to look at every piece of art and read every single story. Also, linger by the guestbook available in the galleries. There are beautiful reflections about the exhibit. Leave your own. SERVICE: I was blown away with the service here! I've been to museums in various parts of the work, and this one was the friendliest. I arrived during the last 30 minutes of their work day. The staff welcomed me with open arms. They were friendly, informative, and invited me back. It was an excellent experience. PARKING: There is a surface lot by the center. There is also a parking garage to accommodate visitors. I look forward to returning to the museum for events and exhibits. This museum is such a gem, more people should talk about it. I loved my time there - the art, the hospitality, and the new perspective about women artists.

If you trace back through the team's history, they are actually one of the original eight members of the NBA D-League which began play in 2001. At that time, the Charge were known as the Huntsville Flight. To date, the Charge have been based in four different cities: 1. Huntsville, Alabama as the Huntsville Flight (2001-2005) 2. Albuquerque, New Mexico as the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (2005-2010) 3. Rio Rancho, New Mexico as the New Mexico Thunderbirds (2010-2011) 4. Canton, Ohio as the Canton Charge (2011-present) As the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, the team won the 2006 D-League championship (the D-League didn't become the G League until 2017) under head coach Michael Cooper. Cooper, who coached the T-birds from 2005 to 2007, is probably the team's most famous coach. He was a five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s. In Canton, the team has done relatively well, qualifying for the playoffs more years than not. The Charge are owned by and a direct affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dan Gilbert, who is chairman of both Quicken Loans and the Cavs, is also chairman of the Charge. The Charge are one of 18 teams currently playing in the 2021 NBA G League Bubble at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando. If you live in Ohio or have access to regional sports networks through your TV account, you can watch several Charge games this month and next on Fox Sports Ohio: https://canton.gleague.nba.com/news/charge-2021-complete-broadcast-schedule/. It's great exposure for this minor league team. If you live in northeast Ohio, you can also listen to games on 99.7 The Drum (WKTX, Cortland serving Youngstown). Opened in 1951, the Charge play in the Canton Memorial Civic Center, next to the Canton Museum of Art. The Civic Center has a maximum capacity of 5,200, but in the Charge's media guide for 2021, it lists the arena's capacity at just 3,902, making it one of the smaller venues in the league. If you're an NBA fan, some names you might recognize who have played for the Charge include Quinn Cook, Tim Hardaway Jr, Joe Harris, Kendrick Perkins, and Quinton Ross. Eight-year NBA veteran Darvin Ham also coached the team for one season (their lone season as the New Mexico Thunderbirds in 2010-11). Note: This Yelp listing for the Canton Charge already existed (and was claimed too). I didn't have to create it.
