I've been here before for Halloween and really enjoyed it but my friend and I came for A Creepy Christmas feat. Krampus and we loved it! First, the decorations are honestly amazing. They go above and beyond with the decor and attention to detail and creepy statues, and ugh gross. They had some of the creepiest elves I've ever seen in my life. The actors are also great. The wait was not too long. We might've waited 30 minutes in line - much longer during Halloween. It was really fun with so many different Christmas themes. There was even cousin Eddie from National Lampoon's Christmas vacation which was hilarious. I really enjoyed this Christmas haunted house. The actors did an awesome job. There were definitely plenty of jump scares. And at the end they had a Christmas bar with Christmas themed cocktails! It was a super fun to spend our evening. read more

What made this once great haunt so good is now gone. New ownership has ruined this place. It had been years since me and my family have been. Boy is it not as intense or scary anymore. Not many actors. Boring, most scenes we walked past we weren't jump scared. They literally took away every aspect that made this haunt great. Not many mask like there used to be. The make-up is generic on most of the actors. Schoolhouse and laboratory had its own unique feel. They set themselves apart from other haunts. There were rally none like them. I feel like the new owner didn't want to scare kids so he made it kid friendly. Because there's no other excuse. If you want to check out a haunt that gives you real scares and a feel of what these 2 used to be. Go to Ghoul Brothers or Slaughter house. read more

Highly recommend! So much fun and a great place to get your spooky on! It is really scary, so I don't recommend this attraction if you aren't at least 16 years old. There are many stairs too. Good for getting extra steps clocked, not good if you can't do stairs. Liked the scare factor and that there are two attractions for one price. Fabulous special effects! read more

This is a very fun, classic haunted house that is an Akron staple!! It's been around since I was a kid! I went on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised that the wait wasn't super long. There's also multiple photo opportunities and scare actors to keep you entertained. The haunted houses themselves have about 3 floors each. There were a lot of rooms that did not have a live actor however, I did not think this made them lacking. There were a lot of very impressive and spooky animatronics to keep my friends and I entertained! (One of my friends even said the machines were scarier than the monsters!) The interior of the haunted houses were very on theme. There was even black mold and cracks on the ceilings and walls!! If those features were present at a restaurant, I'd be grossed out. However, since I'll only visit this place once every few years, I think it adds to the spooky atmosphere! read more

They really need to close this down. went the last weekend and I swear all the creatures had to be on lunc. I. counted 5 people that were supposed to scare me. They stepped out and went back no sounds no nothing. For $42 I expected a little more. This is the best $20 you will ever spend! The staff are respectable and the sights are memorable! This is not your average small time neighborhood haunted experience but a Disney quality experience. Been going on and off for years but it's been a few years since last time I went. Always liked it but I was surprised to see that it's gotten even better. My friend loved it and wants to go back nxt yr and bring other friends. Some great special effects in there. Great attention to detail in the sets. My only suggestion is there is one area that was super foggy, like you really could NOT see, and there were stairs going down. I've heard so many great things about this place and was ecstatic to finally get to experience it for myself. I live a good 4 hours from Akron, but I thoroughly enjoyed my trip through the Haunted School & Lab. Even though their sets are detailed immaculately, it still has a very "old-school" haunted house vibe, which I love. Some of the high-tech haunts nowadays go so over the top that it just doesn't feel authentic anymore. The Haunted School & Lab nails that authenticity. Old school haunted housing at it's finest! I particularly enjoyed the tilting room. I've never seen that done anywhere else. Very cool! The tesla coil in the haunted lab needs to be experienced. That thing is flat out enormous & awesome. read more

I grew up in the Canton area and in 1991 as a senior in High School some friends and I made the trip to Akron to visit these. What a blast! Now, 27 years later I live in Columbus and finally convinced some friends to travel up with me so that I could revisit these haunts. We got the VIP fast passes and glad we did so we got right to the fun without a line! They were even better than I remembered and it shows that they continue to raise the bar and add to the fantastic scenes and the actors do an awesome job! So glad we made the trip and especially glad that they delivered when so many things from childhood don't quite hold up these days. read more

Wasn't too long of a line, definitely better than the Mansfield prison. But need some more clowns and where is Michael Myers? Plus there should be a drink booth inside the line area, it gets hot in there, water or even a beer booth would be nice. read more

By far the scariest haunted house I've ever been to! They have the best props I've ever seen and the people working definitely are good actors and love to scare . There's two complete different buildings you go through and like 3 or 4 floors in each so it's definitely worth your money! Best to go with a group though, there's a couple pitch black parts where you literally have no idea where to go .. plus one of those spinny room things and so much more. There is a lot going on at this place. They spare no details on having props and scares a plenty. It's a little pricey, I admit, but I've watched this place evolve over the decades and it's an excellent scare for Akron and its traditions. The makeup is well done. They're thoughtful to space groups out so you're not stuck with a bunch of jerks. There are some very scary scenes and not too much time/ space between scenes. You're pushing through suspended bodies and great animatronics. There are quite a few surprises, which I'd hate to give away. I have to give a shout to 3rd floor of the Lab. The girls who give the first scares are effective! Their timing is dead on and they get the surprise on you a few times. I also have to mention the actor in the gillie suit, dude, you are really good. My reply to the scare: a long scream and "I think I peed a little." My group thought that was awesome! These actors work hard and have fun getting the drop on folks. I think it's awesome! Well done Akron! read more

The second you step foot into the Haunted Schoolhouse to buy your tickets, you can smell how old the building really is and you can hear the screams of people on the floors above. Even standing out in the parking lot, you can hear the screams of guests walking through. It's definitely a unique experience from the time you step out of your car. The prices are a tad expensive, but ultimately well worth the price if you get the combo tickets to go through both the Schoolhouse and Laboratory. I've paid more money to go through different haunted houses that lasted less than 5 minutes and the actors were on their phones when I walked by. At the Schoolhouse and Laboratory, you're paying for an experience that is well worth it. After I bought my tickets and began walking up the stairs (there are many stairs and scenes that those who have difficulty walking will struggle with) I began to get goosebumps. I've been through many haunted houses in my life and have never experienced this. The lighting of the stairwell and the sound of the music and screams triggered something. The old scent that you smell from the time you walk into the building and the graffiti on the wall made me feel nervous and that's something that hasn't ever happened in the many many years I've been going to haunted houses. The scenes are so well detailed. I wish I had gotten more time to stop and look at all of them because they are absolutely amazing. The Laboratory lived up to its name, very much so. The coil was more than impressive and although I felt it lacked actors/scare it was still well worth it. The Schoolhouse has amazing sets and I absolutely loved the set with the staircase and coffin. It was beautiful and I wish I had more time to look at it and even take pictures if it were allowed because it is STUNNING. The Schoolhouse was my favorite. I screamed my way through and that's unusual for me. I typically laugh at horror movies and being the person that drove 5 hours to this haunted house, I for some reason expected less. The actors did a fantastic job scaring us as we walked through each of the houses. Overall, it was well worth the drive and the price. I expected much less out of it and ultimately want to return again this weekend just to walk through once more. It's not childish so it's enjoyable for most ages that are brave enough, but I wouldn't recommend bringing a small child as it is scary. It's perfect for teenagers and adults! I've been to haunted houses all over the state and country and even ones that are proclaimed to be the scariest in the whole world, but I have to say the Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory takes the cake. I've never had an experience quite like this one and I will definitely be returning for years to come. read more

We went online and preordered what we thought were tickets that turned out to be a waste of time and money. They were $20 online and $17 a ticket at the door. When we got there we asked one of the 15 employees standing around in the parking lot doing nothing where we should go and showed him the tickets and he said we could go right to the laboratory. Well he was wrong we had to go back to the schoolhouse. So we get to the schoolhouse to see what we need to do and an employee told us what we had are not tickets we had to wait in the hour long line to get our tickets like everyone else. I told her I was going to complain because I got ripped off for $12 for four tickets and she said good you should I don't even know why we sell them online. So we get up to the front of the line and talk to the "manager" who tries to argue with me that I got VIP tickets and she knows because she set the online tickets up and then her employees correct her and tell her we didn't get VIP we just got regular tickets. She doesn't apologize for being wrong she just tells me that that is the cost of printing them online and anywhere that we go online to print tickets we get charged the fee. I told her that was my point anywhere else I print "tickets" online I get tickets I don't get a piece of paper that I trade in for tickets. And she just tells me there is nothing she could do. She could have done alot of things upgraded our tickets gave us free tickets for another night, APOLOGIZED or told me she would change the way the tickets are set up so they can take them at the laboratory or schoolhouse so people don't have to wait inline anymore. But she set up the system so she knows people are getting ripped off and doesn't care. Then we go into the haunted laboratory and it's a joke. Scenes that aren't scary at all and people popping out at obvious places. There was a seven year old in front of us that's how not scary this place is.
