I had the chicken piccata and it was absolutely fantastic, while my husband's pasta dish was equally delicious. The wine and cocktails are excellent, and the live music is such a nice touch. Owner Brian Kalliel's vision is clearly raising the bar in Chatsworth, and it's exciting to see the class and culture he's bringing back to this area. While the Resturant is now closed, they are doing private events. We had to do a last minute change because of the LA winds (24 hours in advance change). Absolutely blown away. One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Brian, a sommelier who worked at a Michelin star restaurant for 16 years, makes dining here a culinary and educational experience. He taught us exactly how to pair our wine, how to drink it in a way that totally enhanced the flavor, and was a delight to interact with and learn from. He truly goes above and beyond to ensure you have the best experience possible and are able to experiment and try news things. We ordered the blistered cherry tomatoes, chêvre chard warm goat cheese crostini, seared golfetti salumi skewers, and squid ink tomatillo pasta. All were exceptional. The tomatoes were spicy, hot out of the oven, and oh so sweet, the crostini was creamy and delicious, and the pasta, simple as it was, was packed with flavor. For dessert we ordered the warm chocolate walnut cookies and orange curd budino. WOW, the budino was fresh and citrusy and paired beautifully with the cookies! We went last night for our first time. What a great experience! We grabbed a 5:30 reservation, which is when they open. We pretty much had the place to ourselves for an hour. Brian and his team are so kind and full of hospitality. I'm not super knowledgeable about French wines, but Brian is. We had fun tasting some options as he prepared my 3-wine flight to accompany my food. The cheese plate that we started with was so nice! The variety was great and each flavor was unique. The bread bag was plentiful and fresh! We each had the shrimp entree with a side of the blistered tomatoes. The kitchen knocked everything out of the park! This place exceeded my expectations. The quality of food is impeccable- unlike what you'll find within a 15 mile radius. The grilled calamari was out of this world! We also had the steak and game hen which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Sitting at the bar, we had wonderful service and wine tasting experience. We went on a Wednesday night and were pleased to find there was live music that was pleasant and not deafening (thank you for that). Can't wait to visit again! Was excited to check out Canto Vi because any new wine bar/wine focused restaurant in the SFV is my jam. I think Canto Vi deserves 5 stars because they have a really clear vision of what they want the business to be and I think it's a really great addition to the Valley. In reading the negative reviews, they were about dress code and not having CA wines; which doesn't even really say anything about the business except that it's got a more "upscale" vibe and they only serve old world wines. If that's not for you, don't go. We were debating whether to sit at a table or sit at the bar, and we went with the bar. I'm glad we did! We had a full on experience. Brian made some recommendations for us and walked us through a meat and cheese pairing. Brian informed us he was a wine director for many years at other upscale LA spots but he's actually an SFV local. He gave me total Anthony Bourdain vibes which was funny because on the night we went in he was wearing an Anthony Bourdain shirt. Bottom line, if you want to go and eat and talk with your friends on your own time and do your own thing, sit at a table. If you are willing to go with the flow a little more and let Brian select your pairings for you (literally cutting little pieces of cheese for us and telling us how to consume it), sit at the bar and enjoy the ride. French wine isn't my first choice, but I really enjoyed the wines I had here tonight, especially the whites. It was fun to try a few, so I definitely recommend doing a flight. The quality of the food was fantastic. I absolutely loved the meat and cheeses we got to try. I would definitely come back and experience more of the menu. The vibe of the spot overall feels really intimate. Loved the draped fabric from the ceiling, low lighting etc. On a weeknight it was fairly laid back, but Brian informed us that it gets packed on weekends. For only being open for 6 weeks, I'm glad they are already finding their crowd. They are taking the space next door and turning in into a bottle shop, so it will be really cool to see them grow. They also have a separate cocktail bar with spirits if wine isn't your thing. For this being somewhat of an upscale joint, I really got a kick out of the music they were playing. It kind of felt like a party. While I was confused about what the overall vibe was when I walked in, the longer I sat there, the more I got it. They're doing it all on their own terms to curate a true experience with high quality food and distinctive wine. PS. The french bread (that is actually from France) blew my mind. So many things to love. There's free valet parking if you spend over $50, but there's also plenty of free street parking available, too! The interior design is lovely--it's truly a beautiful space where you feel transported somewhere far, far away (or at the very least, outside Chatsworth!). It's the only upscale wine bar in the valley with a full bar and kitchen. The attention to detail is superb, even the silverware is gorgeous! Now on to the delicious food... The whipped feta and flatbread were perfection. The anchovy and butter were incredible but could use a better baguette. The lamb chomps and frites were great--and when we asked for ketchup (which they don't have), we were offered complimentary remoulade and aioli (yum!). The shrimp dish had the most perfectly cooked shrimp topped with bottarga, but the polenta was a bit boring. The chocolate pot de creme had a very unique texture, different than any pot de creme I've tried before, but it was good nonetheless. And the orange praline was a fun touch. The one thing I do not understand is the dress code. I've been to plenty of upscale restaurants in much seedier areas (take Bestia next to skid row for example) that do not enforce a strict dress code. Yet the vibe there is still awesome. Diners do not care if someone a few tables away is in shorts or flip flops. Not a single Yelp review ever mentions the attire of fellow patrons. She did notice that I saw what was going on and I do not care why were they laughing at BUT that is definitely not a good picture for a place's reputation. Another one of those place, gem that you stumble upon. Especially deep in the valley. Based on reviews, and of course the wine, had to give it a try. There was four of us and visiting on a Friday we knew that it'll probably be busy. One of us tried calling the tasting room and was told that they don't take reservations. Tasting room is hidden as you would know it was there. There's valet out front but once inside it quite nice. Dark vibe. Anyhow, we arrived early thinking it'll be nice before the rush. There was gentleman, security guard I assume. Thought he was going to check our id but asked if we had reservations. But calling ahead was told no reservations. Our party was already seated inside and to our surprise, the place was nice. A dark speak easy feel. Menu is limited for food as mainly its specialize in wine. The selection was quite impressive. You could do a glass or by the bottle. As for food, majority was shared plates/appetizers. Entrees, I believe there 4 items. Everything has to be ordered at the bar as there's no waiters. Keeping cost low. The gentleman, believe the owner did come over with our bottle to pour. Told us about the place which was a nice introduction. Food was nice but option was quite small for started. Recommend ordering a good amount if you're hungry. Main, the lamb and fries, plentiful portion with the fries. The shrimp and polenta were nice as well. Service was good even without waiters. Wine selection is nice and it's on the pricer side but given a nice bottle is worth it. I believe there's other cocktails as well, but could be wrong as we only had wine. I have been quite a few times now and I always enjoy. I love the ambiance. It has like a sexy masculine kinda feel to it. And I love learning new things from the sommelier. I enjoy taking new friends so they can have an awesome experience like I have and try something new. I don't think there is anything like this around. I am a huge foodie. I'm having fun trying all the items on the menu. You can tell they use the best ingredients and it's so fresh. I hope they open up a little wine and cheese shop like I heard rumored on the inside because I am obsessed with some of their cheese. We have found a new (relatively) local spot to add to the rotation! Jim G. and I have been wanting to try Canto VI for a little while, after reading about their opening. So glad we finally did. So, there's valet as you pull up (complimentary with a minimum purchase; I think it's $50) and then a (seemingly) random guy comes out of the door and says "Hi." I'm polite, so I say hi back. Then he asks if we have reservations and I realize he works at the place; I forgot his name (so sorry!), but he's a combo doorman, maitre'd, security, etc. He asks if it's our first time and, since it is, suggests we sit at the bar, though he has a table reserved for us. We took the suggestion to sit at the bar and I'm so glad we did! Brian (co-owner and somm) and Lance were so kind, helpful, and friendly all night! We put ourselves in their very capable hands as far as drinks were concerned and they did nit disappoint! Brian was also great in making sure we enjoyed everything perfectly, giving us some tips on combining these flavors from our plate and really (I mean, really) chewing and letting our taste buds do their job and then taking a sip of the wine at the perfect time. While it may sound silly to give people instructions on how to eat and drink, it really did enhance the flavor of both the food and the wine. Jim G. and I have been blessed to dine at many fine dining spots, but I must admit that sometimes we are too focused on just eating and drinking, instead of tasting and savoring. Brian reminded us about that, and I'm grateful. The people watching was interesting, the playlist was great, the vibe inside is sexy, yet comfy. Finally made it to CANTO VI after having it on my list for a while and it was so worth the wait. The place has a cool speakeasy vibe, and even though I accidentally booked our reservation for the wrong day, they were super accommodating and got us in anyway. The staff was really friendly and professional, and the owner even stopped by our table, introduced himself, and gave us each a glass of wine to try. Perfect location for a romantic date night or a wine out with friends. It's evident the staff are passionate and wine connoisseurs at heart. We sampled wine and desserts. We were above and beyond pleased. The location is new and recently remodeled. Parking is limited but they offer valet(I believe this is free) . This is a relatively new business, I encourage you to come out and support. The moment you step into Canto Vi, the ambiance feels perfectly suited for a wine bar, though the temperature inside was a bit on the chilly side, so I'd recommend bringing a coat. That minor issue quickly faded after a few sips of their excellent wine, and the atmosphere became as comfortable as the experience itself. My wife and I are looking forward to returning for dinner. Canto Vi is a lovely wine and tapas bar in Chatsworth. New to the area I heard they've only been open for about two + months. I know once the word spreads about this place it will definitely become popular because it seems to be a more elevated and romantic restaurant and bar that this side of town desperately needed. There were lots of pros and things to love about this place. The ambiance was great and decor is stunning. Love the dime lighting and purple bar vibes. It's the perfect spot for a date night or a girls night on the town. The restaurant was cozy but still upscale. They have a dress code which does fit the vibe. I just thought the inside was really impressive and gorgeous. Also concept wise THANK YOU for having a duel bar area! Love this so much! I'm not much of a wine gal (still learning and tasting) so I was pleasantly surprised to see the main hub of the restaurant is the wine ordering bar but also off to the right they have a cocktail bar. For someone intimidated by wine and not wanting to wait between the customers talking wine, it was great that off to the side there is a traditional cocktail bar area with a bartender. That leads me to my other comment, Lance was our bartender the night we came and he was wonderful! He was super knowledgeable on cocktails and mixes. He was beyond warm, inviting, and friendly. I appreciated that he knew his stuff but made everyone feel comfortable in ordering what they pleased and tweaking the recipes to our tastes. Sometimes bartender can act put off by special requests but not here, the vibes are all good and Lance was a gem of the night, our entire table said so. For that matter all of the staff were very nice. The wait staff were friendly dropping off dishes and clearing our table. The service was efficient and pleasant. Didn't get a chance to really talk to one of the owners as he stationed himself to the wine bar for the night but seemed friendly. Cocktails were tasty and strong. I was happy with both my dirty martini and Pimms cup. My girlfriend's all liked their cocktails as well. One pair at my table had wine and were very pleased with it. Cocktails and wine were a little pricey but it is a wine bar. I loved the food and tapas that the table shared. The food was quality and the presentation was rustic and perfect for those foodie Instagram patrons like myself. There wasn't a bite I didn't like. We stuck to the appetizers/tapas and didn't have any of the mains but we were impressed with their selection. Everything was good. My favorite of the nice was the whipped feta. It was so creamy and light, with the charred bread it was a 10/10. Please keep this dish on the menu! I'd come back for this alone. The selections of cheeses and meats were great. My other favorites of the night were the sausage and fennel crostinis and you can't go wrong with some crispy, fresh, French fries. Maybe adding an aioli to the fries would have made them a 10/10 but still super good and crisp. The only con really is the location somewhat. It's easy to pass by as it's unassuming from the outside but seeing a valet station nearby helped us realize we were about to pass it. Street parking was an option but park at your own risk. That was our only "complaint" that there were lots of transient people and somewhat sketchy people walking up and down the street. At night, being a group of girls we did admit to feeling uncomfortable and I wouldn't feel safe necessarily coming alone. It just is what it is and worth noting. The owners don't have any control of this though and I understand that. I just think for a place that rings upscale and A+ atmosphere, the location at night is feeling more C+. I at least give the owners credit that they do have security at the door at all times. That's a big deal. They also lock the door once you come in (we knew this because when we came up and it was locked, so we had to knock). It's a little uneasy but I am glad that they take security seriously. My friend and I are always looking for new places to try and we definitely had high hopes given all the great reviews! First off, parking is either on the street or valet. I tried to get valet and they didn't make this easy. I had to double park because there were cars already in front of the restaurant, then I was told I had to move forward and I did; then I ended up blocking traffic for those that needed to get into the hotel next door (it was a mess!). Ultimately I had to just go past the restaurant and u-turn to come back around. They have someone at the front of the restaurant that greeted me and helped me inside (he was very nice!). I ended up sitting at a high top table. Ambiance [5/5]: The restaurant is nicely dimmed and had an intimate vibe. Fair warning, they do have a dress code! Staff [5/5]: All staff was quick to deliver the food. Each person who worked at the wine bar and at the cocktail bar were friendly and knowledgeable. Food/Drink [3/5]: You order all food/drink at either bar. *The person at the wine bar was very kind to let give us a couple of tastings, but sadly none were to our liking. I ended up getting a drink at the cocktail bar, I can't recall the drink I ordered, but I remember it was good! My friend ended up getting an Old Fashioned which we normally both love, however the drink was practically clear and sadly not made well. *Lamb Frites: $31...We had THE best fries! They had this perfect crunchy exterior! The lamb was good and it had a nice mint sauce that actually went well with the fries too. However, there were only 3 lamb pieces and they were very small; therefore I think it could have been priced more around $25-$27. *Mixed herb and Arugula Salad: $11... the portion quite decent, the taste was okay, and I think that is because the arugula was more on the yellow side. We were told the dish was meant to be more of a "palate" cleanser. I would have been happy with the salad being on the smaller side and priced more around $8. *Fennel Sausage Crostino: $11... enjoyed the crostinis, they had nice flavor overall. Just a shame there were only 3 as I wanted more! Overall, we had a good experience. Wine list is great, decent cocktails and just found out they change their menu every 4 months which automatically makes you want to come back for more. I was so looking forward to this place because of all of the positive reviews and someone posted it on Nextdoor. It's a pretty cool concept and that's what drew me in. If you are planning on coming here on the weekend, make reservations. Make sure to book the bar, as that's where you will be placing your orders for food and drinks. There's no parking lot, only street. It's supposed to be like a Speakeasy. There's a guy at the door with an iPad that checks you in and takes you to your table. He will explain that you place all of your orders at the bar. There's actually 2 bars (wine & cocktail). The cocktail bar has about 4 barstools or so. You can order a wine flight for $35, which consists of 3 full pours which brings each glass out to $15 each. One thing I did not like is where we were seated against the wall, the tables were placed way too close to each other. I think they should remove one of the tables so that there's some privacy. We were so close that I was able to hear everything that was being said next to us. Also, they really need to turn down the volume with the music as it's a little too loud to carry a conversation. I'm not referring to the live music as the volume on that was perfect. Now, the food here is more like tapas. The portions are ok, but be careful as your check can definitely get out of control. We ordered the eggplant (a little bland), salumi skewers, triple cream with mushrooms & duck/pork pate. There is, however, a 14oz. Prime bone-in filet you can order at $89. It says serves 2-3. If this is your only dish, then it's probably only good for 1 serving. The Stracetti is basically a steak salad. I thought it was a real steak, but it comes already sliced up for you. I wished it wasn't cooked well done. I was not a fan of the texture as it more roast beef texture because it was overcooked. The taste was pretty good and it tasted like it was cooked on an open flame. I just wished it wasn't overcooked. Overall, the food was pretty good, but we were still hungry after the tapas, so we ended up ordering the steak. The wine prices here are pretty pricey. So if you are going to come here, get the flight for $35. read more

I don't want to review this place because it's too special, and most people won't understand that this is the best wine bar -- not just in LA, but probably in the entire country. The large, black granite horseshoe bar is where you want to be. Personally, I'd never sit at a table. Take some inspiration and guidance, as if you're walking into an authentic Japanese sushi joint -- and not just ordering California rolls. (If you eat California rolls, please sit at a table.) The food is good. I've had about a third of the menu, and everything I've tried has been solid. But to be honest, he could serve me army rations, and I wouldn't say a word about it. The cheese selection is excellent -- and if you're at a wine bar, that's kind of the most important thing to me. Don't get me wrong, though: it's a whole ass restaurant (and a really good one at that, I like the goat cheese honey, fries, and charcuterie/cheese section from what I remember). It's just not what I'm there for. I imagine 98% of people don't even understand how unbelievable this place is because most people lack taste. And if you don't think that's true, the person who lack s taste is, unfortunately, you. Most people can't comprehend anything beyond chicken tenders or whatever the Jon and Vinny zeitgeist is pushing, and they order wine by color and label rather than by grape and style. But I digress. I'm happy that "regular" people can enjoy this place, but if you truly love wine -- and when I say wine, I mean wine, not just a beverage from Napa -- then you absolutely have to come here. Okay, so this is our second visit. The first was amazing. The second was just as good or better! We have tried and shared 7 or 8 different menu items, some small plates/apps and some "entrees". All were unbelievable and so good. The Chef and kitchen staff use high quality ingredients and create menu items that combine the ingredients into innovative and unique plates. We have loved everything we have tried! Both times we sat at the bar and the personal attention from Brian and Lance made the experience so much more meaningful. The exclusive and hard to get wine selections are amazing and if you ask can be paired perfectly with the food. Disregard the price if you can. In the end it is so worth it! After searching for so many places, we went to this place for our 10th year wedding anniversary and we are both so happy we did so. To start, the door to the restaurant is locked so we found that pretty cool. It gave us a Safe feeling. The drinks were amazing. For appetizers, We ordered the salami on stick, the goat cheese and honey on bun, and the fries. All tasted very different and delicious. For food we got the bone-in fillet with truffle butter which comes w potato. We also got the roasted vegetables. We LOVED everything. Brian, the owner, was a true gentleman and so respectful and welcoming. Even if everything was not as I described, we would definitely go back for the way he treated us. At the end he treated us w a sorbet for our anniversary. We had a great time and planning to go back with our close friends. I definitely recommend this place. Let me tell you how amazing this place is...I've been here 5x in a month. I celebrated my birthday here with the hubby and we've just been coming ever since. I've taken a lot of my friends and they loved it too. Even more stoked now coz they have live music throughout the week!! Some wine bars have their wines down but this place nailed both wines and food. The Chef is an amazing food writer from Northern Italy and the "Man" of the night is Brian who's a topnotch Somm that knows his Shhtttuff! Canto VI: A Descent into Culinary Hell If Dante had dined at Canto VI, he would've added a new circle to Inferno--one reserved for overpriced, underwhelming restaurants that masquerade as fine dining. Our party arrived, impeccably dressed and ready to celebrate a birthday, only to be greeted by a door security check so unnecessarily rigid you'd think we were trying to enter an exclusive club. Spoiler: the restaurant was empty. Yes, empty. Yet, they meticulously checked our reservation as if we had to prove we were worthy of suffering through the meal to come. The interior? Stunning. The service? Nonexistent. The staff mastered the art of avoiding eye contact, and when they did acknowledge us, it was with the enthusiasm of a hostage video. The owner? Rude, dismissive, and clearly allergic to hospitality. The menu looked promising--creative, even. The execution? Imagine a microwave, a lack of seasoning, and a general indifference to quality. The food was cold, poorly flavored, and so lifeless it should've been served with a eulogy. Meanwhile, the sommelier, when asked for wine recommendations, contributed absolutely nothing, as though picking a bottle was an intimate and deeply personal decision we had to struggle through alone. The one saving grace? The cocktails. If you're coming here, come for the drinks--just make sure you eat somewhere else first. For the price, this wasn't just a disappointment; it was an insult. Canto VI doesn't serve a fine dining experience--it serves an overpriced, joyless reenactment of Dick's Last Resort, but with worse food and no self-awareness. I had such a fantastic experience at Canto VI the other night with my parents. I'll admit, I'm a bit of a picky eater and didn't recognize half the items on the menu, but we sat at the bar and let the owner, Brian, take the lead. He absolutely nailed it. We started with the goat cheese crostini and an eggplant dip and both were delicious. Then came the fresh herb salad with lime vinaigrette, which might've been one of the best dressings I've ever had. I skipped the green chili, but I'd 100% order this again, and maybe even ask to add some fruit to it like orange slices or strawberries! We also got the creamy mushrooms and the prime bone-in filet with truffle butter (cooked Medium), and Brian recommended pouring the mushrooms over the steak... pure heaven. So rich, tender, and flavorful. It was hands-down one of the best steak dishes I've ever had. For drinks, we did wine flights tailored by Brian based on what we liked and the food we ordered, and they were perfectly paired with each course. We ended the night with an espresso martini and three desserts: the chocolate cookies, orange curd budino, and lemon lime sorbet. The sorbet was my favorite and was super refreshing. Everything about the evening felt thoughtful, high-quality, and totally worth it. It's rare to find a place like this, especially in the Valley, and I'm already looking forward to going back.
