Small, intimate restaurant that we were lucky enough had availability immediately as it was hailing/ raining outside and were seeking an escape. I don't know what type of restaurant this was but it was good. This was the first restaurant we visited after getting off the plane. We walked up and, not knowing what to expect, we walked in asked if the bartender if she spoke English. She shrugged and gestured a "a little bit". When she saw me about to panic, she laughed and asked (in near perfect English) us where we were from and how many were in our party. They ask everyone where you're from because they have a menu for each major language and want to know which one to give you. The restaurant interior is very packed with lots of seating. The front of the restaurant opens right up to the street and passerby's can see into the entire front area at the diners. Good advertisement strategy! The service was pretty good. Given where we sat (in front of the bar right by the door), we were expecting be forgotten. We weren't. While our waiter didn't check on us as often as we would have liked (probably because of how crowded it was), we weren't forgotten. He came by every so often and we never had to stand up or flag anyone down. Pro-tip: If you're here on vacation, then sit back, relax, and have a bit of patience. My wife and I came when it was starting to get crowded (around 15:30 on a Saturday). There was only a small table by the front of the restaurant (literally in the entrance) looking out at the street available without a wait. It had just stopped raining, we wore windbreakers which was warm enough, and didn't want to wait so we said sure when they asked if we wanted to sit there. We were so glad we did. Instead of passing glances over the restaurant's interior and occasionally checking out what others ordered, we got the best view the restaurant had to offer - the every day passerby's of the quaint little street on which the restaurant resided. We had just gotten off the plane, and after nearly an hour of riding a train to termini plus taxi to our hotel, we were pretty hungry. However, we didn't want to spoil dinner so we just got something light. We ordered a crunchy bread with cheese and anchovies with sparkling water to start, and meatballs and bread for the main entree. The crunchy bread was delicious. The ingredients were very fresh. The melted cheese on the bread kept stretching after each bite. The saltiness of the anchovies went perfectly with the cheese and crust. The meat balls were amazing. The sauce was just a bit tangy and the meat was grounded very thin. There was so much flavor packed into each bite. We also ordered some bread to go with the meatballs, but really the bread could have been it's own thing. It was made beautifully. We could taste hints of olive oil and spices sprinkled on top. The potatoes that came with the dish were okay. We already had a lot of carbs by then so we chose to forgo finishing the potatoes. I can't comment on the price since this was our first meal. Everything came out to 26.40 euros. They accept credit card. However, unlike in the US where they take your card to swipe at the cashier's, they bring the credit card machine to your table so your card never leaves your sight. If you don't want to deal with that extra waiting of them grabbing the machine and bringing it to you, then just pay cash. read more

The tomato sauce was bright and light, and the food came fast for lunch. Pretty sure only Americans like gooey melted loads of cheese like this, plus I'll take it. Meatball was pretty good. Cost the same as our meal at a Michelin recommended joint yesterday, which is ironic, because all though this is good it is definitely a touristy level quality. He also offered unlimited refills. We took 2 more along the way. We spent about 25 mins in line but it did move and they took groups by size, which helped. We sat right by the entrance, which was fine. We ordered beer and an aperol spritz which came quickly. 2 of us shared the Roman Artichoke, carbonara and meatball. The artichoke was cool, carbonara had great bacon, but the meatball was whatever. Server took my spritz without asking for another and I absolutely wanted one more. So that was awkward when I had to ask for a refill. Overall, not sure why it's all 5 stars. Service was okay, their best employee is absolutely the man who keeps the people happy in line. Tight We saw this was a highly rated restaurant so we sought it out for lunch. We were not disappointed. We were seated without a wait and started looking over the menu. While I wanted pizza, my wife thought I should have Chicken Cattitore so she could have a sample. I had Chicken Cattitore. Ya know what? It was excellent. My pizza disappointment vanished as soon as the food arrived and I started in on the sauce. I'd forgotten how good this tomato based sauce with olives could be. The chicken itself was moist and very good, and there was a generous amount of that sauce. My wife got her sample and I polished off the rest. Seating was tight. We've been in Italy for a couple of weeks and have learned it is not uncommon to have your table quite close to another's table. That was the case for our lunch, and we ended up meeting and having a nice conversation with our next table neighbor. Where I was seated I was also practically blocking the only path through the dining area. Even though I moved in as far as I could, people constantly bumped into my chair or would even brush against me. I enjoyed my food but for the entire meal I also felt I was in everyone's way, which I was. Paying didn't go well. I have a trick where I bring out and hold my credit card, so in addition to trying to get the server's attention for the bill, I try to look obvious I want to pay and leave. I don't think that has ever worked on this trip, and it really didn't work this time either. We finally learned you need to go up to the register to get your bill and pay. If we look like tourists and we look like we want to pay and leave, a little more help from the restaurant to send us on our way would be nice. read more

This place was a dream and I could not have asked for a better experience if I tried. My wife found this place after making a small list of restaurants to try and this place did not disappoint. To begin, we were seated in the middle of the restaurant by "AF" who was also our waitress, she answered all our questions regarding the menu and even gave some recommendations she thought we would like which ended up being the Lasagna and the Rustica Pizza which was amazing. The staff was super friendly and asked where we were from while waiting for the food to arrive which sparked up conversation about how old the restaurant was and about the area surrounding the spot. It was pleasant conversation before dinner which kinda made our night and once the fold arrived I only wish I could have ordered even more from the menu. This place is a gem and unlike restaurants in the US they don't care about over booking the inside of the restaurant so you are squished like sardines in a can and can't even hear your self speak.
