My gf and I found or new favorite local spot last night! We started with the Goat Cheese and also the Meatballs. Enjoyed both so much that it will be hard for us to try out different apps on future visits! We also got the Fettuchine with Chicken and Broccoli. It was very good. Came with a soup or salad, we got the broccoli cheddar and I will say it was very salty. The entree was great tho. Also got the BBQ Chicken Pizza Double Dough. Would have prob preferred it without the extra dough but it was still very good! Prices are very reasonable and the staff was very friendly. We look forward to coming back! read more

Very Disappointing! For my friend's birthday, I wanted to treat her to a nice Italian dinner, so I chose this restaurant because it advertised homemade pasta. We started with the calamari, which was over-fried and chewy. We each received a small side salad with our entrees, and surprisingly, the salad ended up being the highlight of my meal. It consisted of mixed greens, one sliced cherry tomato, and several croutons, and it was fresh and enjoyable. At the time, the restaurant had only three occupied tables: a party of 12, a table of three, and our table. After our salads arrived, we waited 45 minutes for our pasta dishes. Our server apologized and explained that our order had gone in after the large party. My friend ordered the Ravioli Bolognese, which she enjoyed. I ordered the Penne con Salsiccia alla Vodka, but the pasta was so overcooked that many of the noodles were falling apart, and it was served with marinara sauce instead of vodka sauce. I informed our server of the mistake, and she kindly offered to have another dish prepared. Since we had already been at the restaurant for nearly 90 minutes, I asked for the replacement to be packaged to go. Unfortunately, when I got home, although the replacement was made with vodka sauce, the penne was again overcooked, with many of the noodles broken apart before I even touched them. The vodka sauce itself was very thin and lacked flavor. We did not stay for dessert. What disappointed me most was that despite the long wait and the incorrectly prepared entrée, no manager came by to apologize or acknowledge the situation. Based on this experience, the restaurant struggled to handle one large party while maintaining both service and food quality. Between the lengthy wait, overcooked pasta, and incorrect preparation, I cannot recommend dining here. read more

Every couple of Years I get the urge to give this place another try! Years ago it used to be amazing! First look at the menu at I already knew I had made a mistake! Cacio e pepe with sausage and peas!!! What???? The name should be self explanatory ! Ordered two Pizzas! Rucola prosciutto and sausage. Both pizzas came, completely inedible, uncooked! Raw dough! Cheap domestic prosciutto! Pre made crust that doe not rise and feels like it will be in you stomach for a year! Oh well see you in two years or so! What an awful place! read more

A little local gem!! We came here on a Thursday night and had the pleasure of being served by Antonio- he was very friendly and great at serving us! The restaurant wasn't too busy but he did mention it had been a slow week for them. The place itself has great dim lighting perfect for a night out to unwind. Very clean and cozy atmosphere as well which I always appreciate. Food was amazing! My boyfriend and I tried out the bruschetta (amazing 10/10) , sausage and peppers (also amazing 9/10), sausage and spinach pizza (super good and not too heavy 8/10, Caesar side salad which was ok (5/10) and bolognese ravioli which was amazing! We paired our dinner with a few cocktails as it was the special of the day- $5 martinis!!! Unheard of! And they were delicious. After viewing menu we really wanted to visit this local restaurant. Website states they open at 12:00 noon. We arrived a few minutes before 12:00 and sat on their front patio which is just adjacent to the front door. It was 12:05 and no doors were opened, restaurant was completely dark. They have a neon sign in the front window for Open which was not lit. We waited till 12:20, knocked on the door no response. Looked inside not a person in sight. Obviously we left, I called the restaurant at 2:00 and a gentleman answered, I asked what time they open he said 12:00, I told him we were there and waited, he said he was there but maybe forgot to unlock the door. Went on a recent Friday night. We were seated outside upon request. Service was deficient at best. We were waited on by 3 different people. The hostess, the waitress and I believe the person bussing tables.. Ran out of drinks during the appetizer. NEVER offered additional drinks. Only given a refill of water upon request. Very disappointing experience. Waiter was disorganized and distracted, service lacking. Party of 6 on a Wednesday evenng. Order incorrect, delivered a totally different entree than what was ordered (actually 3 orders of same entree), then when correct order delivered was approx. 30 minutes after our co-diners had received theirs. One patron should've gotten break w/oil & parmesan, finally came w/o parmesan. This place is awesome! We had the meatball appetizer and it is now my new favorite meatball. Very large meatballs that we couldn't finish so we bought the leftovers home to make meatball sandwiches, lol. The sauce was delicious as well. We also got the cheese pizza for the kids and sausage pizza for the adults. It is now our kids favorite pizza. I thought the pizza was great and different from your "traditional" pizzas. The service was great as well. I didn't catch the name of our but he was very attentive and the owner came by to check on us as well. Very friendly staff. I want so badly to love this place. I love the name, the atmosphere and the descriptions on the menu. I visited for the second time today, this time for lunch, and ordered a Caprese panini with grilled chicken. Paninis come with a choice of fries, soup or salad -- I selected the chicken and rice soup. The soup was so-so -- it didn't have much flavor, and it reminded me of soup from a diner. The sandwich tried to look like a panini, but it was more like a sub sandwich with panini press marks on the bread. I'm very glad I had grilled chicken added, because without it, I think the sandwich would have been more bread than fillings. Our server was friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed the bread with olive oil and Parmesan that we received as soon as we were seated. Maybe standard Italian fare is Canta Napoli's specialty. If I return, it would be only try a pasta dish, as I haven't been overly impressed by their sandwiches or fish/salad entrees so far. read more

We chose Canta Napoli to host our baby's first birthday party after we had an excellent experience here for my shower a couple years ago. As expected, we had another wonderful experience! Mike is so accommodating and easy to work with, and he made the entire planning process totally stress-free. The food was fantastic and everyone was raving about it. I attended a funeral luncheon. 1. Right people at one table for ice tea, etc 2. When asked why the table behind who came much later received their drinks quickly. Their waitress stated they had make coffee and iced tea. Oh, yeah, that makes sense in a restaurant!! 3. We did not have any salt, pepper or sugar on the table 4. We never received refills for any drinks. 5 the salad was beautiful, but lacked any seasoning. Tasted like vinegar. 6. The pasta dish has almost no sauce. Absolutely, no cheese to be had, anywhere. 7. The chicken dish was so bland, in appealing. 8. The dishes were so unappealing. No effort to dress up the dishes 9. The cannolis were, truly, hard as a rock. You could smash against the table and it would shatter. 10. They cleared the table, served dessert. No untensils. They through cocktail napkins on the table. 11. The waiters were poorly dressed. One had on too too short, too too tight shorts. They all had on ratty shirts of their choosing. I was so disappointed when I had dinner last night at Canta Napoli. I used to come here a few years ago and was a regular. Their food was fantastic, and I enjoyed the olive oil with bread and parmesan cheese at the table. Last night my chicken marsala tasted like fried chicken over pasta with mushrooms in olive oil. There was no marsala and no flavor. My daughter's limone chicken was fried chicken over a floating bed of fresh spinach. The spinach was drenched in lemon juice, soggy and super sour. We couldn't even fill up on bread at the table with the olive oil and parmesan cheese, because you no longer offer that to your customers. I can't say I'll ever be going back because this is now the second time I've had unappetizing food here. read more

I cannot recommend Canta Napoli enough. First off Mike the owner is an absolute gem and always so friendly and accommodating. He really strives to provide the best service and food possible. Secondly, I have never had a bad meal here. My go-to is always the wood fired pizza and the meat and cheese tray but the pasta dishes are incredible as well. They also have half priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays and their happy hour appetizer menu is solid. Overall I love Canta and all the amazing staff who work there and they are an integral part of downtown Mount Prospect and the community. read more

Went on a Monday night. It was empty. By the time my friend and I ordered, there were two other tables filled. Asked the server for separate checks and was told no since he was the only server there. Too busy. Tried to order a steak item and was told they didn't have it that night. Had the vesuvio chicken. Chicken was overcooked - breading was dark. It was dry. We've eaten in and done take-out and love the dishes which have ample portions, often giving us a dinner and lunch for later in the week. Service can be slow at times but don't forget the entire food service industry is suffering from lack of staffing. They continue to offer Groupon and Nosh coupons so that's great. Never had a bad meal here. The Manzo Italiano pizza is delicious but could use more Italian beef and a crispier crust. Prices are fair. read more

My wife loves Italian food and Canta is close by so we decided to give it a try. Because of the pandemic we ordered take out. The restaurant appeared to be following all safety protocols. The staff was friendly, informative and helpful when ordering (being our first time) and when we picked up. I will start with the side salads. They were fresh with a mixture of greens. The salad also contained tomatoes, carrots onions etc. All and all a good side salad for what it is. I ordered the balsamic dressing which I didn't care for. It was more on the sweet side of the spectrum, not the savory. This was on me for choosing the wrong dressing. No complaints. We decided to try their margherita pizza and chicken parm. First the pizza. It was a bit of a let down. While the crust was cooked perfectly with a nice flavor and chew, the sauce was lacking in any flavor whatso ever. On to the chicken parm which came with a side of spaghetti. I have to give Canta credit where credit is due. The chicken breast was a large portion. But I'm not eating here for size, I'm looking for quality tasty food. The chicken breast was cooked to perfection. Juicy outside and still crispy on the breading outside. I would think this would be hard to achieve it being contained for take out. The spaghetti was also cooked perfectly, al dente. I asked the wifey midway through how her dinner was. Her reply "not delicious". That is just too bad. The culprit was again the tomato sauce. It had no flavor, none. Not even of tomato! Maybe we caught them on an off night. We will certainty give them another try, but for the sauce everything else was tasty. I truly debated in my head on how many stars I should give. I was leaning toward four, but the sauce is such a main component of the two dishes we tried and with it being an epic fail... Three will have to do for now. read more
