Harken back to the days of yore when we all had five hours to spend eating, drinking, and being merry. The upstairs room with giant family table was just the place for our group of 20. I was surprised anybody could keep up with who ordered what. Star of the night was our lovely server, who put up with the endless musical-chairs action to get people what they ordered (mind you I didn't participate in that revelry; I kept my alleged rightful place at table's head, people can come to me). But the rest of the group swapped like it was speed-dating day. Since we were "private dining" the menu was a little smaller, but still had plenty of choices. The salmon was light, excellent, flavorful. Others enjoyed the Ragu and Salsiccia, and even the Vegana looked tasty. I smartly saved room for dessert (mine and a friends since that's how I roll). Actually somebody ordered a cheesecake and vanished so I added some of that to the list after polishing off my "selection of ice creams" (yes plural is always better with ice cream. Thankfully I had enough sense to let my colleague finish the last bottle of wine and didn't follow them all down the street to the next place afterward, leaving me to savor the upper-room experience at Bird.

I opted for a cappuccino instead that was really good. Before we left we were able to get a drink each since it hit the twelve o'clock mark. I tried the bellini and it was made with really fresh peach puree and was very tasty and light. I ordered the poached eggs with pepperonata and it did not disappoint. My husband ordered the pancakes and really liked them.

I hope it's the case they had an off night, and not that the restaurant has gone downhill inside decor is sparse but nice. lacking is service and food value rabbit tagliatelle tasted a bit bland. scallops were okay. lamb was okay, served perfectly at medium rare. this was the highlight. ribeye was okay. essentially everything was just okay wine by the glass is outrageously priced. a very light pour of Brunello was £21. I repeat: a very light pour. perhaps 60% of what would be normal in the U.S. dessert was weird. we ordered a apple/rhubarb crumble (I think it was apple) but there was no whole fruit, just a mash. and it came out scorching hot. like it was microwaved. some of the dinner plates came out so hot they could not be touched and the waitress never warned us. we had a few people waiting on us and none of them seemed happy to be there. no repartee, no offer to explain anything on the menu. at £60 per person we expected much better service I was embarrassed because we were entertaining people who lived in London but wouldn't normally spend this kind of coin on dinner. I have spent so much time in London they trusted my judgement in picking a place better than their own very doubtful I will return

** brunch review **…read more While I love the Italian ambiance of this bar and restaurant, the food here was probably one of the most underwhelming during my latest trip. The brunch menu is pretty short and not particularly innovative. I opted for the quinoa with kale and egg, and it really lacked any seasoning. The egg was also slightly overcooked for being "poached." Our waitress was really sweet, though, and the coffee drink menu was brimming with interesting-sounding options. There are lots of interesting things to look at in the restaurant, as well, including some interesting planters. Would not recommend for brunch. Sounds like it's a great spot for other food and drink occasions.

No reservations were needed, but I would recommend them just in case it gets busy. To start, we ordered the rosemary focaccia with olive oil, which was a great starter for the Italian meal we were about to indulge ourselves in. We also ordered the smoked burrata with aubergine. It came with toasty crackers and the combination of the cheese and aubergine was fantastic! For the main dish, we ordered the special of the day, which was penne and aubergine pasta. The pasta was al dente and was a great vegetarian option for Meatless Monday's! The drinks here are moderately priced and pretty large compared to the bars in the area. The service is attentive and friendly. I will definitely be returning here to try some of their desserts and some coffee or tea!

My wife ordered the Wagyu sliders and the portion was disappointing. She received 3 sliders and each was smaller than a macaroon. Considering the sliders cost only £3 less than the entire wagyu burger, we expected a similarly sized serving. I ordered onion rings as a side for my steak. Our food was brought out without the side of onion rings. I asked the server about the onion rings and was told she would check. She never came back, I finished my meal, and the table was cleared. I never received the onion rings despite asking multiple times. Our original waitress never returned to our table, so I couldn't even find out if she ever put in the order. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it was cooked closer to medium and even leaning towards medium well. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to Christopher's.

I was sat immediately and chatted with a few of the waitresses who worked there to see what they liked and what was popular. I ended up going for the Mac Daddy I believe it was called. I also opted for the lamb fries and thank god I did!!! I have to say those were possibly the best fries I've ever had in my life. They are covered in a jalapeño sauce that isn't too spicy, but has excellent flavor. The fries basket was also covered in red peppers and a lot of lamb. Seriously, the fries were divine. The burger was also good, but I'd recommend you ask for it cooked well...there was a lot of pink left in the middle of it (a little too much for my liking). I had a few beers that hit the spot as well. This place has great food and excellent service, I highly recommend it!
