They no longer handle repairs at this facility--they now outsource everything to Costa Mesa. I'm still waiting for a confirmation email that my item was dropped off. It's already day two and nothing has come through. In the past, you'd receive an email right away confirming the drop-off, so I'm worried my item may have been lost. Honestly, Canon makes so much money--why can't they afford to keep repairs in-house at Burbank? It's really frustrating. read more

Canon makes it it so damn difficult for me to consider buying another canon product. Went in there to get my 24-70mm f2.8 L lens repaired and the quote was $589!!!! My 70-200 f2.8mm L was $709. Holy crap!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous that Canon does not take care of it's customers better. I had my 24-70 repaired last year and it costed $379. A $200 mark up from last year. They gave me a repair warranty that lasted only 6 months. It's absolutely ridiculous. At least with Apple products, you can buy the Apple care and get anything fixed for $100. But with Canon, NOTHING. I used to be faithful and loyal to Canon but I think it's time to see what the other brands are doing and how they are showing their appreciation towards their customers. I visited Canon's new Burbank facility for the first time yesterday, and I felt kind of like a Star Wars fanboy visiting Lucasfilm or something. I know it's a weird thing to say, but I'm the type of person that is extremely brand loyal. I've been buying pretty much EVERYTHING that Canon makes ever since I bought my first Canon film SLR and Canon 10D DSLR when started my professional photography career... and now I have everything from huge telephoto Canon L lenses to current full frame 1DX Mark II and 5D Mark 4 DSLR camera bodies to my Canon mirrorless M6 to my beloved G7X Mark II for vlogging to my trusty old Canon Elph pocket camera for listing things on Craigslist... you get the idea. Anyway, Canon recently opened up a service center in Burbank, where you can take your camera bodies and lenses for cleaning and repair! Perfect, because going to the OC repair center is sooooo far for those of us who live near LA. I need to take one of my big lenses there for cleaning and service soon! I had the chance to stop by Canon Burbank and was pretty disappointed. And not because anything happened . . . well actually, it's because NOTHING happens here. Now don't get me wrong - there are classes scheduled every month but I have not been to one yet (the website calendar has also been blank so I guess Facebook is the best way to follow any events if they post them). First off, the place is super hard to find unless you ask someone. Directions tell you to turn into an underground garage that gets expensive quick, my 20 minute trip was $5. Once you go up to the street level, there aren't any "Canon" logos or signs, except for one direction board with an arrow pointed to one way reading "Canon". Nothing else. I kept walking until I got to the other street before turning back and walking into the building where an "iHeartRadio" sign is displayed. I found a secretary working in one of the front offices and she directed me to the second floor via elevator. Once you get there, you expect rooms and hallways and basically a larger space for all things Canon. Nope. What you get is a class room size space with a few shelves of cameras displayed and a mini studio showing off some more film/tv cameras. That's about it. I also figured there would be a shop/store since Canon sells directly through their website, only to find out there is nothing for sale here. I can't comment on service or classes offered but solely based as a "Canon" gallery, it's really not worth it. read more

I love how easy this Canon location makes it to get my gear serviced. I'm a CPS member (and you should be too, it's for worth it) so I just popped in on a Tuesday morning around 10AM. I was the only customer and after filling out the paper work and handing over my gear I was out the door and on my way in under 20 minutes. My gear was serviced and shipped back to me free of charge within the week! Parking is validated and free. read more

Absolutely above and beyond customer service. As a long time pro user of Sony and previously Nikon, I excepted only the best from Canon and they delivered. Matt was very careful and took all proper precautions (during covid) and their team my camera repaired and back to me within three days. If you own a canon system and do it professionally, I also recommend the Canon Professional Services membership which allows for a lot of perks including testing out equipment and loaners while your gear is out for repair. read more

This doesn't show it all but 7 times plus I've been back to canon Burbank..the first time I went for the 18 point cleaning just to have to in top shape before a wedding I was shooting..I had to come back because the view finder had crap all inside they said they'd re-clean then got it back it was worse...so they changed the prism because they caused the issue..then I had to go back because they upgraded the firmware without my consent..then I had to take it back because it didn't turn on...I go back AGAIN this past week and they gave me a loaner because they said they must have messed something up on the board inside..I get it back today the viewfinder is totally covered with dirt..I don't know what they are doing but I want a new camera at this point..and they didn't give me back my body cap read more

Canon has really disappointed me. As a long time CPS member, this was the first time I have ever been so upset with service! I upgraded to Gold service prior to taking three Canon 5d's for sensor cleaning on a Friday. On Wednesday they were still not ready. I made numerous calls to try and get this sorted out. I wound up having to rent camera bodies for a big job on Thursday. read more

WOW- what a GREAT experience! Super friendly people and QUICK!! took my Camera Body in about 1pm on a Thursday before a Holiday Weekend and here I am on Friday next day with my Camera in hand! Super excellent- Parking nearby may be a challenge - but there is a Whole Foods across the street- so maybe that structure will be open. I got lucky with a free street spot. No waiting - walked in, was greeted by a super friendly woman, filled out the form and out I went = Was emailed a receipt and a confirmation of shipping. Can't wait to open it and check it out!! Go- much closer than Costa Mesa for those of us north of there. Trust Canon- I may have paid less going to a local small shop but would I have gotten the same service? Nice center, in the middle of Warner complex, and nice floor, but poor customer service and shoddy work. Have to bring in lens AGAIN after failing to work properly after supposed calibration. I'm fed up with Canon's product at this point and am this close to switching over to Sony. Can't afford to have blurring pictures or shoddy service, especially when repairs are shoddy. read more

Excellent service, good experience overall. The technician Michael is very knowledgeable, and very focused on customer satisfaction. The receptionist couldn't have been nicer. Just don't go at lunch time if you need to talk to the technician. Very pleased to take care of this repair locally and not have to send off my camera or drive hours. Just park in the lot underground, go to street level exit and enter the I Heart Radio building, then go to the 2nd floor. Just like the directory in the lobby says. Not sure what the others are complaining about. And they do validate. I'm writing this because I was almost scared off by the negative reviews. My experience couldn't have been better. read more

Well... Where should I start... I've got a Canon C70 from BnH two months ago, got a tiny splash of salt water on it and the front button started glitching. I've brought it to Canon on 8/20/21. It took them a week to disassemble the camera and tell me (after I actually called myself) that it needs most of the parts replaced and they gave me a $2000 bill which looks like a rip off to me since the camera was working when I brought it in. I've asked them how long it'll take to fix it after I'll pay and they said they'll have the parts the next day and it'll take them a couple of days to put it back together. So I've paid on 8/31/21. Today is 9/8/21 and they are still waiting for parts and don't give me estimate anymore. There is no direct way for me to call them so I have to drive to facility to get an update. I've been loyal to Canon for 10+ years, I've had 7 Canon cameras and many lenses over the years but looks like it's time to switch to Sony. Update. I've spoke to a supervisor today. He said the part is coming from JAPAN on the SHIP!!! So it could take months. I've asked if they can do anything like landing me the temp camera, since the Canon representative game me the false repair time estimate, he replied "no" but added that "Canon is really concerned by this situation". This was my last Canon camera body or lens purchase. Goodbye Canon. read more

Parking: Park in the underground lot and ask for validation at the Canon desk. It's going to take you several minutes to find a parking spot-- that place is crazy -- and then travel more minutes to take the two elevators and walk to the Canon office on the second floor so make sure you get enough validation tickets -- they only gave me two and that wasn't enough. The review is primarily about the parking and I'm trying to stretch it out so that they don't put it into the tip section. Lol. It's great to finally have a canon service center in Los Angeles so you don't have to ship to Costa Mesa. :-) read more
