Our roof job is going on day #8! It's been the worst experience ever!…read more - nails all over the property, smoking on the property, bringing children to the job site, trash and debris blocking my ability to walk or inspect my house, damaged landscaping, warping shingles, uneven shingles, shingles without nails to hold them down....the list goes on. No one in their right mind would look at my roof right now and agree that it was an $11K job done by professionals. The fact that the roof is being redone again on day 8 speaks for itself. We were originally quoted 3-4 days. Why am I paying top dollar for the Home Depot name? You should be embarrassed and concerned about this amateur level of service being contracted under your name. The public needs to know that Home Depot is allowing such lousy and incompetent work under false premise and with a ridiculous price tag. This is unethical!

After 30 years of dealing with constant repairs to our Flat Roof, we finally decided to go for a…read morenew one. Got many estimates and did a lot of research into the best method. The "oldtimers" wanted to do the "rip off the old one and tar and gravel a new one". That is SOOOO 1980's. The younger ones had several different methods, most of them way too expensive. The more I read the research, the more i liked the Silicone Method. It's fairly new but highly preferred by experts especially for the "Dreaded Flat Roof". I found Pitre Construction and Roofing, a family owned business that's been an East Bay (and beyond) favorite for decades. I dealt with Ricky Petri, the son of the founder. I really lucked out. He is a big proponent of The Silicone Method. It's waterproof, has no seams to fray and leak, keeps the house 10 degrees cooler (delightful during this current 90/100's heat wave). They offer a 5,10, or 15 year manufacture's warrantee, depending on the thickness of the silicone used. The roof is power washed first, then treated with a primer and taped flashing, then completely covered in General Electric manufactured Silicone. There are no seams. Ricky is a blast to deal with. He's a high energy, delightful young man who's been doing roofing with his dad since he was 5. The workers are professional, experienced and very tidy. We were totally thrilled with the result. If any of you have been dealing with the torment of a flat, or long-term leaky roof, i feel your pain. It's so comforting to not have to think about the upcoming rainy season for many years to come. Ricky's estimate was VERY fair, way cheaper then the 10 or more estimates some of which went as high as 16K. If you're in the market or just tired with dealing with the stress of wondering which part of the ceiling is going to leak or fall this winter, give Ricky a call. He comes out, explains your options and gives you a free estimate.

They ignored the contract entirely, skipping vital steps like setting the shower pan in mortar, leaving me with a crooked, flimsy base that flexes under my feet (see photo). Julian canceled on me FIVE TIMES in two weeks which caused me to cancel and reschedule incoming sheetrock and painting contractors. The shower head? Installed at a ridiculous 5 feet--like that's remotely usable. They even had the nerve to lie about shimming the base properly. Now I'm stuck paying another contractor to rip out their garbage work and start from scratch. Thousands of dollars added to the project and weeks lost in time. This company is a total sham--unreliable, incompetent, and a waste of money. The picture speaks for itself, just look at the huge gap under the shower pan that Julian thought was acceptable. Stay far away! Update: Had to have a contractor remove the shower installed by J & G Tile and found a complete lack of skill, knowledge and integrity. The following was noted on demolition: 1. Shower pan was not shimmed, set in mortar to level and sealed around the edges. 2. Plumbers putty was not used to seal the drain into the shower pan. 3. Shower head was not secured to the wall and moved around freely. 4. Silicon sealant was not applied under the wall when setting the walls. 5. Use of proper adhesive was not used to secure walls. This is the most upsetting as there was literally six small drops of caulking and a splash of silicon on the back. When the wall was removed it was pulled away by just using hand leverage. Someone could have been injured or killed had the wall come lose with it weighing several hundred pounds.

We had the electrical in our house updated and all the outlets grounded, a washer and dryer installed, and a partial kitchen remodel. Being that my husband is a chef and I spend hours upon hours doing dishes, I had my heart set on finally getting a dishwasher. Against all odds, Scott and his crew were able to make this happen. They removed a drawer and a cupboard and somehow managed to fit a teeny tiny dishwasher into our teeny tiny kitchen. We love the look of our 1939 kitchen but wanted to utilize an empty wall. Like I said our budget was tight so Scott was able to come up with a plan to use IKEA carcasses and make faces to match our original cupboards. I can't even tell you how perfect they look; most people don't realize that they are not part of the original kitchen. We will most definitely be using Scott again as we continue to remodel our new home.

Fortunately (in hindsight), the original contractor for my major project fell through and Scott was willing to take up the job. First though, his brother Paul worked on installing a new gate and a bathroom vent. He worked tirelessly throughout the day and was super friendly throughout. He did an excellent job, and was very creative along with his brother in solving any bumps that come with working with an old house. Eventually came the large project of installing pipe from a sump pump to the street, and repaving my entire sidewalk and driveway. It took a while to get going due to weather, logistical and legal/political issues, but Scott remained in contact throughout the entire time to keep me updated. He was also very considerate for the needs of my elderly father in making things a bit easier for him to get around. During this large project, there was a major issue with the subcontractor, but Scott kept me updated with the statuses of everything and eventually got it all sorted out. I would highly recommend Wilson Bailey Construction and was glad to be able to support this local business. Richmond is certainly very lucky to have talent such as Scott and Paul!
