    Red Velvet Cake

Cane Patch Kitchen is an excellent Creole soul food stall in Liberty Public Market. It's one of the few original restaurants at the Public Market, and if the constant lines are anything to go by, you know the food is excellent! Located in the heart of the Market, it can be loud and crowded, but the staff is super helpful and takes the time to answer any questions. There is plenty of seating inside and outside the Market, so you can easily find a place to sit down and enjoy your food. I didn't have one of the entrees, but I did enjoy the red velvet cake. Oh. My. Goodness! It was delicious, and the portion size was HUGE! I definitely recommend trying out Cane Patch Kitchen while at Liberty Public Market! You won't be disappointed!

Let's start off with $70.00 for these 2 plates ! Yes $70.00 ! The Mac & cheese is okay but the cheese on Top was CRUNCHY , on BOTH plates ? the yams tasted like water & cinnamon & the catfish was SATURATED in grease it did not taste like catfish one bit, unsure what fish that was / was trying to be but it was GROSS ! The red beans and rice were flavorless . I didn't door dash it I picked it myself it was a piping hot plate ! NEVER , AGAIN! 2 stars because the customer service was good.

Shrimp Po Boy & Swamp Fries

Cane Patch is one of the many food options available inside Liberty Public Market. While walking around looking at dinner options, I settled on a shrimp po boy and swamp fries from cane patch. Getting both was a ton of food but both sounded so good and they were delicious! The swamp fries had so much flavor and were spicy with hot sauce drizzled on top. The po boy had lots of shrimp and great flavors as well! You could easily share both of these dishes with someone else for a good sized meal. I would order both again! It took about 15 minutes for my food to be ready so place your order then look around for a spot to eat. The public market can get really busy and can be very noisy but there are lots of seating options inside or outside.

Got their Oyster Po Boy. Honestly, for almost $20 I expected more than half a sandwich. The oysters were nicely fried but thats about it. Bun was stale and the veggies could've used some salt/seasoning. It did take over 20min to get my order when we were told 5-10min so that was off putting.

I ordered a grilled shrimp po' boy with steak fries. Add an Arnold Palmer and a $3.00 tip and the bill comes to $32.16. Not cheap at all for a sandwich, fries, and a drink. First: a grilled shrimp po' boy with 6 or 7 small shrimp for $19.00 is a LOT. A $5.00 Arnold Palmer, is a LOT. I waited patiently over 20 minutes to get my food. Finally food started coming out and was set on the counter for 3 of us to watch sit there, as nobody would hand it to us... Finally the girl taking and prepping orders came to the front and handed out 4 bags that were just waiting.. I make my way to another area to find a seat wit the rest of my party waiting for me while their food got cold. I open my container and I have the wrong food. The container had french toast and bacon inside... I take the food back to the counter and now I'm not happy, but explain to the girl that this isn't my order. She looks inside the bag, then starts typing for a bit in the computer and I tell her if they have to make another, and it will take another 20 minutes, I just want my money back. I'm now less happy. IN the meantime, another customer comes up and practically throws her bag on the counter and says "we don't even want it anymore". The girl behind the counter (Lynee) hands me a receipt, grabs her phone and LEAVES. Just leaves. The cook looks amazed, comes up front and asks what happened. I told her she just left. The receipt she handed me was a refund for someone else. Not even my order, nor my credit card, The cook was great about it, apologized, and had another shrimp po boy on deck, and handed it to me in 3 minutes. The food was OK, the po boy could have been much more loaded for $19.00, but I'd rather try something else next time, and because of the service, I'll happily skip anyplace she works, forever.

Breakfast po boy. Eggs, cheese, choice of bacon or/ and sausage, served on a soft chewy roll, topped with remoulade sauce. Sauce was nice suprise and paired well. I would like the bread toasted.

I loveeeeee Cane Patch! It's the only food I get when I come to Liberty Station and I come a lot and there's always SOOO many options. But this is my go to. Of all time. Sandwich is hefty and generous for the price and the quality is amazing! I love the ambiance of the inside as well. Lots of tables and seating.

Cane Patch Kitchen is one of the few OG vendors still operating from when Liberty Public Market debuted in early 2016. Cajun/creole cuisine is the name of their game. Po'boy sandwiches and fried baskets made up the left menu screen. The right screen listed five entrees, seven sides, two desserts, and the kids' menu. I selected the first two entrees listed which were the Jambalaya and Seafood Gumbo. The addition of meat to the jambalaya costs three more dollars, but you need protein to make this item complete. Therefore, I asked for a mix of chicken and andouille sausage. About 15 minutes later, my order had been bagged and was ready for pickup. The gumbo had a mildly spicy broth with shrimp, mussels, and a crab claw included. The price was a bit higher than I had expected for the serving size. The jambalaya was a potpourri of colors from the green onions, tomatoes, bell pepper, and corn kernels mixed in with the dirty rice. For the quality and value of the food I sampled, my rating was 3.5 stars for Cane Patch Kitchen.

3 pieces of fried catfish, baked macaroni and cheese, crispy sweet potato fries, and buttered toast.

Cane Patch Kitchen is located in Liberty Station food hall serving up some southern Louisiana classics such as po-boys, fried seafood, and the traditional southern sides. We decided to try this place to relive our past with the tasty southern cooking and it definitely lived up to the hype. As former Mississippians we were craving some fried catfish and turned to Yelp to get the answer. Cane Patch Kitchen offers a variety of different fried seafood such as oysters, shrimp, catfish, and even alligator. The side dishes to name a few are baked macaroni and cheese, collards greens, and sweet potato frys and many more on the list. We went ahead and ordered the fried catfish combo which comes with one side and you can add another side for a small fee so we also went ahead and got the sweet potatoes frys and baked macaroni and cheese. The food was beautifully presented and the portion size was amazing! We ended up getting 3 nice sizes of fish and a generous scoop of macaroni and cheese with a heaping handful of crispy sweet potatoes frys! They even threw in butter grilled toast and ranch to compliment the frys and tartar sauce for the fish. The fish was fried golden brown and seasoned well. The batter wasn't crispy crispy but a nice thin layer of crisp. The fish was very succulent and juicy packing with flavor. The frys were nice sweet and crispy and paired well with the ranch. The macaroni and cheese had a nice flair to it garnished with thinly fined chopped green onions. The food was good and service was great and made me reminisce of my good Ole Mississippi day and trips to New Orleans for fried seafood platters. Definitely have this on my list again to come back and try the swamp frys or po-boys or maybe even the fried alligator.

    Chicken and waffles

While strolling through Liberty Public Market, we stumbled beyond Cane Patch Kitchen. Hubby ended up ordering the chicken and waffles from them. He said that chicken was well seasoned. Waffle was decent but not a knock out of the park. It was flavored with either nutmeg or cinnamon. Large portion size.

I was starving and I had to go grocery shopping. I don't like grocery shopping if I'm hungry cause I buy to much lol I cruised over to livery station cause they have good variety of pop-ups. I walked around to see which pop-up made my stomach growl. It stopped at New Orleans pop-up, it's been a minute since I had Cajun food. They had gator & it sold me. If you ever had gator it's really good & taste like chicken ( like anything else lol ) The service on point, helpful, & friendly. The food came out fast. I'm about dive in to satisfy my stomach Come check it out !!!

If you are a big fan of Cajun cuisine like me, you always try new spots. I decided to try it and was not very impressed. The price for Gumbo in the menu was $15 so I decided to go for it. They said that for 2x the money you would get 2x Gumbo, so I decided to go for it as well. They said that the wait would be 5-10min which ended to be 18min. Kind of a long wait for hungry person. Ok, I would wait that long for good Gumbo, but only for good one. This gumbo was underwhelming, 7 shrimps swimming in the company of 5 pieces of chicken and 6 pieces of sausage. See picture for details. Not worth $30 for sure. I will not be stopping by there again.

    Shrimp Po Boy
    Milani L.

My experience was good but it wasn't great. The customer service was really good though. The worker helped my boyfriend and I with suggestions on what we could like or want to order. He was very patient with us. We decided on the Shrimp po Boy. Originally we thought it looked like a pretty thick sandwich. But it turned out that it was just the bread. The shrimp was a lot smaller than expected and was more breading than the actual shrimp. Rhe lettuce amount was a little too much in comparison to everything else as well. In regards to the price, I definitely don't think that it matches the price (approximately $18). I would go back and try something else on their menu but if I can't be guaranteed to have a good amount of good quality shrimp, I don't think I'll be getting the po boy again.

Our server was very attentive, which was especially nice since we were among the first customers there. A few things to note: there is a 90-minute dining limit, and everyone at the table shares the same seafood bag, so your group will need to agree on one sauce flavor per round. We only made it through two rounds, but everything we ordered was delicious. The fries were crispy, and the mussels, shrimp, and clams were all meaty. The sauce was flavorful and complemented the seafood well. We finished the meal with the fried Oreo and ice cream, which was the perfect sweet ending. We'd definitely come back again for the AYCE experience!

I placed my order through the ChowNow platform and arrived to pick it up, only to find out that the restaurant staff was completely unaware the order had been received. Because the order was never sent to the kitchen, I had to wait additional time while it was prepared. The bigger issue was the food itself. I ordered Combo 3, which states it includes 1 lb of clams, but there were very few clams in the bag--certainly nowhere near what I expected. In addition, there were no sausages at all and only 1-2 small potatoes included. Mistakes happen, but between the ordering issue and the missing ingredients, the meal did not match what was advertised. I hope the restaurant improves both its order management process and quality control.

When we first walked in, no one greeted us at all. No "hello," no explanation of how seating worked, nothing. My sister and I stood there with two other people waiting for about 15 minutes, assuming someone would eventually help us. Eventually we realized on our own that there was an iPad we had to check ourselves in on, because nobody told us. After we checked in, the wait time on the system said 1-11 minutes. We waited well past that. At this point we had already been there close to an hour, and still not a single staff member had acknowledged us or even spoken to us. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was noticing the difference in how people were treated. Neither my sister and I nor the other Black couple waiting were greeted at all, yet a large family that walked in with a reservation was immediately acknowledged and assisted. At one point I finally pulled a staff member aside and asked about the wait time. He said he would "try to work on something now," and then never came back to update us. Then, after we had been waiting over an hour, someone finally spoke to us -- not to apologize, not to explain the delay, but to say they were no longer taking dine-in orders because the kitchen was backed up and that we could maybe place a to-go order instead. Mind you, this was the very first time anyone had spoken to us since we walked in. What made it even more frustrating was that they continued accepting delivery orders the entire time, yet the customers physically standing inside the restaurant were ignored. If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe stop accepting additional orders until you catch up and at least acknowledge the people who are already there waiting. When I tried to explain that we had already been waiting over an hour and had never even been greeted, the staff member showed no remorse whatsoever. The response was basically just repeating that the kitchen was backed up, completely skipping over the fact that we were ignored the entire time. Basic customer service goes a long way. A simple greeting, an explanation of the wait, or even an apology would have made a huge difference. Instead, we were treated like we didn't exist until the moment they told us they couldn't serve us. Extremely disappointing, especially when you're visiting a city and just trying to enjoy a birthday outing.

The Cajun fries held their own too. Prices are fair, actually a bit cheaper than comparable spots in SD, and the space itself is large, clean, and nice inside. We were seated quickly with no wait. That said, a few things brought the experience down. The staffing was clearly not enough for the volume of guests -- as the night picked up, service noticeably slowed, and it felt like the waiters were stretched thin through no fault of their own. That's a management issue. The sausage portion options are oddly limited too -- only a half pound or full pound, nothing in between, which feels unnecessarily restrictive. Biggest miss: the calamari. First, he comes over within a minute of me sitting down and I say I need a few minutes to decide which he responds by not coming back for 10+ minutes! Then he takes my order and I get my food but then I have to wait for him to bring the utensils?! Then, I get the utensils and I'm eating and I'm real realizing this food sucks!! There's no seasoning, it's literally just a bag of seafood and oil smh. I tried to get his attention so I can get some salt and pepper and it took him over 15 minutes to come over to me?!!!!!!!! Whole time I'm waiting this dude is cleaning dirty tables that are empty!!!!!!!! Mind you, after it took him super long to come back the second time, I asked for a new server and instead of obliging management said he was new and that I should just stop anyone that's walking by and ask for what I need and then proceeded to just sent me over a drink from the bar that I didn't order?? Like thank you but fulfilling my request would've been apology enough!! The icing on the cake was when I did stop someone to get my to go boxes and instead of getting it for me, she went and told him and he came back over and asked me if that's what she said?!! Like whatttt???????????? The overall incompetence was quite infuriating and I would 100% recommend Crab Hut on Convoy over them!! I'm so mad I just wanted to try somewhere new smh Yoooo go read their other bad reviews!! "Management" only responds to threaten and belittle the complainants like they've never heard the word accountability before?! Bro yall suck as a business and should convert into a karaoke spot or something
