First time staying at a Candlewood Suites (part of IHG). There weren't a lot of options for the last football home game of the year, but actually really enjoyed our stay here. My husband could NOT stop talking about how great the shower pressure was. I'll admit was VERY powerful, ha. The room was clean and I was surprised that there was a whole set up to cook/clean - stove, dishwasher, toaster and all. Again, first time staying at a Candlewood. Only complaint is that next door neighbors were definitely smoking weed which seeped into our room, but we didn't spend much time in the room anyways. Overall, no complaints! read more

Bloomington hotels tend to not be on the nicer side but this hotel is probably the best one in town. It's not fancy by any means, but it is relatively clean (some areas of the hotel and my room were not as clean as others), with friendly service. The staff here went above and beyond to ensure I had a good stay here. I also loved how the lobby has rubber duckies you can pick for a chance to win some bonus IHG Rewards points. Not all hotels do this! The room was reasonably spacious, modern and well lit, and the bed was quite comfortable too. There's also appliances like microwaves, stoves and fridges in each room which is great. I would stay here again if in the area, and would recommend this place - just be mindful that there isn't much around this hotel, such as restaurants and all that. For that, you might be better off staying in the Holiday Inn Express. read more

We recently stayed at Candlewood for a basketball tournament. Upon checking in, we had an opportunity to pick a duck and win a prize from the cupboard. The front desk also has snack packs they gave to the kids. Great gesture! We stayed in the 2 bed queen suite. It was roomy. The beds were comfortable. I was shocked to see how much the kitchen was stocked. The lobby also had items you could borrow. It was raining so we utilized the pool. It's a little small which caused some challenges when other teams wanted to come use it. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the accommodations. If they offered continental breakfast, they'd be 5 stars. read more

My husband's job changed hotels, and this hotel is lovely. There's a fridge, stove, coffee maker, dining table, and microwave. Awesome! :-) I'm not staying here, but I was able to see how well the hotel is being kept, and how friendly the employees are. The rooms are spacious, clean, and a decent view outside. If I decide to change hotels, I will definitely take into consideration, Candlewood Suites Bloomington. read more

Our room wasn't cleaned prior to our visit. We didn't notice immediately because we checked in late but in the morning we noticed dirty dishes and silverware in the cupboards and leftover fast food items stuffed in the drawers. I notified the desk staff the next day as we checked out and she said we would get a call from the manager to address the issue but we never did. read more

My wife and I went down for a visit to see my sister and check into relocating. I speak as a bka and would endorse the bathroom. They have the bench in the shower just right. The shower head was in the right place. The handyman moved the soap. The staff was great and extremely extremely helpful. This is an extended stay place so the longer you stay the better. They have a swimming pool and exercise room and laundry. I will use them again. read more

I actually give it 0 stars! It wouldn't let me post unless I gave it a star. Absolutely awful customer service. Made many reservations for 1 night but had to cancel 4 of them. I followed the cancellation policy and canceled all rooms before the cut off time, as stated on my confirmation email, in order to have "no charge". They have charged me for those 4 rooms and refuse to credit my card even though I have documentation proving I was told that I COULD cancel. I have called asking to speak to the manager numerous times, but "she's busy" "she just walked away from the office" "she is not here right now". Never received a return call. Worst customer service ever! The manager's name is Michelle Cooley. worst hotel experience ever. I will never stay in an IHG hotel again. read more

This hotel is not as pictured at all. I am an IHG member but have never booked through the member app before. This is not the hotel I book through the app and noticed this upon arrival. The hallway leading to our room, looked as if it had not been vacuumed all week. The same goes for the carpet within the room. The smell within the room was atrocious. One of the bed frames that holds the mattress was broken and falling in. Along with some other furniture, that was very worn and in need of replacement desperately. Within the bathroom, there was hair in the tub, sink, and on the tissue box. Plus, the toilet looked as if it had not been cleaned. After less than an hour, of trying to grin, and bare it I could not take any more and checked out. Taking photos first of course. read more

Arrived to find the room I reserved was not available. Was told I could take one bed or leave. Was not offered price for one bed room. Was told I had to pay the same price or leave. Kia at desk was very rude, gave us a key that did not work. Did not offer to fix it until we asked for help two times. The rest of the staff was helpful and worked to resolve my concerns. read more

I'm a little perplexed from the bad reviews . My room was wonderful and quiet and clean and exactly what I asked for and more . I had a fully equipped kitchenette with a full size fridge and a small coffee pot with a bag of coffee and a bag of popcorn they definitely added small touches with the dishcloth and small bottle of Palmolive dish soap . My bed was like clouds and marshmallows . The shower was nice and I would definitely stay here again ! read more

From the highway, it looked really nice. the parking lot was full and the woman at the front desk was nice. We went to our room and the TV had no signal. after fifteen minutes we were able to get a different room. this room appeared clean. Then, I found the floor was sticky in the bathroom and my feet turned black on the bottoms when I walked barefoot. they did provide us with a bag of microwave popcorn, so that was nice. But otherwise it was gross. We told the woman at the front desk but she acted like there were a lot of people and she was the only staff member even though the place seemed deserted. It was a horrible experience and I would not recommend it. However, we did get a full refund. read more

This was simply a wonderful experience. The staff were so pleasant and understanding. The cupboard is a great idea, it allows you to make your own private meals in your room with a wide selection of items to choose from. The rooms and in kitchen area come with everything you need and is spotless. The pool is clean and warm. This is going to be my home away from home whenever I visit Bloomington in the future. read more

I was super impressed with this hotel. The management is helpful and courteous and the amenities are awesome. I had a family member in town for a few days and we called them last minute after finding a price on booking.com our walk in price was $20 cheaper then that! There is free laundry and the rooms have a full size fridge. The only downside is that the pool may be indoors but it isn't regulated as far as temperature. So this past week when we tried to swim it was a shock to dive into water almost as cold as the air outside. Other than that its a wonderful place and I'll recommend it to anyone. read more

The room was visually appealing and had a nicely stocked kitchen for a hotel kitchen. This is where the charm ended. I was there for 2 nights this week. Each night I came back after dark and I was worried walking through the dark parking lot into the hotel. There was never enough parking spaces either. The smells in the hallway were horrible with an underlying acidic/vinegar smell. The toilet wouldn't stop running and it wasn't fixed during my entire stay. The ice maker made a loud motorized sound that woke me up in the middle of the night. They fixed that by yanking the whole thing out. Pipes in the wall were also loud. I was in Room 310. read more

This hotel receives no stars. I reserved a room in August for the weekend of October 11-13. When I booked the room there was no mention in the on line reservation that this was a "special weekend". Unfortunately, my husband became ill and I had to cancel which I did on October 2. I called the hotel on the 7th to ask about my refund of $372.38. I was told by the manager that their policy was not to issue refunds when it was a "special weekend". I paid the entire amount, the on line disclaimer says that a deposit would not be refunded upon cancellation. I paid the entire amount, NOT just a deposit. The manager would not issue a voucher for a future stay. They were able to rebook the room since it was a "special weekend" and so the hotel lost no money. I was the only one who lost money! Their corporate customer care is a farce. All complaints of this sort are referred back to the hotel manager. My warning is DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! I will also mention that I feel I was discriminated against because I am a senior citizen and intend to file a complaint on my behalf. read more

The system doesn't allow for zero stars, but that's what I would give the Candlewood. I reserved a handicap-accessible room when my elderly father and I needed a hotel for 17 days. When we arrived, we were told the room we reserved was not available because the current guest decided to stay another night. We were told they would give us a free upgrade for a night and then we could move into the room we had reserved the following night. Because of my dad's mobility issues and because we had enough suitcases and groceries to last us 3 weeks, we didn't want an upgrade as much as we wanted to be able to unpack and settle in. They gave us two choices: Stay in the upgraded room and pay the full price or they would help us move the following day. There was no concession for the fact that they were the ones that had created the problem, not us. Ultimately, we decided that we might as well pack up and move to another hotel where the staff actually cared about the experience of their guests, rather than move into another room at the Candlewood Suites. Of course then they wanted to offer a discount, but by then it was too late: They had already lost us--for this visit and any future visits. read more
