My son is disappointed in his haircut and I am angry. He showed Leslie clear photos of a simple…read morecut, but the result looked nothing like what he asked for. The sides were too long, the proportions were wrong, and the style did not match the images at all. For sixty dollars, I expected a basic men's cut to be done correctly. He felt uncomfortable speaking up in the moment, so he paid and left, but he was very unhappy with the result. I do not care about a refund. I want accountability. The salon needs to know what happened so they can prevent this from happening to other clients. I will be calling the manager and plan to come in person the next time I am in Providence to explain what went wrong. Clients deserve to feel heard, and the final cut should match what they requested. The one good thing is that my son learned an important lesson. It is completely acceptable to speak up if the service is not what you asked for. If you are unhappy with a haircut, ask for a manager or request a stylist with more experience in men's cuts. He was a nice young man and he washed my hair and proceeded to cut it based on a photo I showed him of a medium length lob. It was a little poufy when he was done, but looked okay. I was shocked at how little he charged me- about half what I would have paid anywhere else. However, after I've washed it myself and tried to style it, I have come to realize that it was a pretty poor cut overall. I won't go back and could not recommend it unless you have a very limited budget.

If you've never written a review on Yelp, when you give 5-stars - a little side message pops up that says: "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" So that pretty much describes Candice at Chat Noir. I have been to more than a few stylists since my former stylist, Roxanne, retired 15 years ago to start a new career. Roxanne was a master stylist with 30 years of experience who, in addition to being a stylist, taught precision cutting techniques and color theory at the salon where she worked. Candice is the first stylist who has been able to match Roxanne's level of skill and precision in color and cutting. From the moment I met Candice at our consult, which she was kind enough to call and arrange before my appointment (who does that?) - I felt at ease. She answered every question and listened to all of my neurotic concerns. She was friendly, warm, patient, and most importantly, knowledgable and honest. The day of our appointment was a marathon, including a cut and color correction of my thick, dark (almost black) hair with washed out straw-like highlights. Plus, I had dark horizontal banding at the crown from home root touch-ups in between highlights. My hair was striped! I think Candice was actually excited for the challenge. She had a plan in place and went to work with a calm, steady, efficient and friendly manner. At one point, she realized that the plan required a minor adjustment to ensure the results she envisioned. Candice was kind enough to explain each step so I was comfortable (color correction is a long ardous process). Throughout, it was very clear that she was being mindful about the products and process to maintain the integrity of my hair. So impressive. Now the CUT/STYLE. Simply put - extraordinary! Candice has mindblowing cutting skills. I can still hear the sound of her scissors snip..snip..snipping as she worked her magic. She cut, styled, fine tuned. Such attention - such precision. Candice is not just another hairstylist - she is a natural, an artist. Plus, she's a great person - the time went by so fast. So that's it, she's kind of perfect. This is my first official Yelp review. I'm a huge fan of Yelp as a consumer, but never bothered to sign-up for a review though because I am naturally lazy. Literally the BEST curly haircut EVER! One of Candice's specialties is cutting curly hair and as someone with thick, unmanageable curls in in the past, her talents definitely show! The salon is very nice and well kept with refreshments and reading materials while you wait. Candice did an awesome job of listening to everything I had to say, why I was there, what I wanted in a haircut, and even answered all my questions about hair care. Like others I've gone to tons of barber shops and salons but none seemed to be able to take my hair to the next level. They were all very cookie-cutter haircuts or didn't fit my face shape well. I knew I needed a "stylist" and Candice nailed it. She took into account all the intricacies of my hair type, face shape, and needs and gave me a style that worked perfectly for me. I have the horrible combination of being super experimental with my look, and having naturally fine hair. Candice was very careful about this, and was able to bleach and color my hair without ever causing damage. Each time I went back we would do something different and fun; it was various shades of purple, blue, then my favorite, a sea witchy green and blue. She always blocked out enough time to blow it out and curl it too, and leaving the salon is always the most confident I've felt :) I only ever saw her at Hairspray (not my favorite place) but it was always worth coming back because Candice really took the time to get to know me and make sure my hair was perfect before letting me leave. She's great at what she does not just because she knows what she's doing, but because she respects her clients and her craft. Candice is the real deal. I've lived in Providence most of my life, constantly searching for that stylist that could give me that quality, attention to detail cut I've been searching for. I first met Candice at Hairspray Salon. I wasn't a big fan of the other staff or general environment at Hairspray. However I put my differences aside to have Candice work her David Copperfield'ish magic on my dome. I hate to piggy back on Adam C's review, but he hit the nail on the head. I was seriously disappointed when Candice no longer called Hairspray her home... Where was I going to get my haircut?! A super-cuts? Keep dreaming! Needless to say I had a few sub-par cuts in the interim. Now that Candice is back, I'm back to receiving compliments on my hair, and I'm a dude. Get the picture? I was coming in from out of town and I was lucky enough to call Candice based upon these awesome reviews I saw on Yelp. As most of you all said, she is very friendly, the atmosphere of her salon is very welcoming, and she is a perfectionist. I had some damage in my hair, which many other stylists told me I couldn't do anything about. However, she was able to blend it into the rest of my hair. She also made recommendations on how I can keep my hair healthy and proceeded to design a beautiful updo for the wedding I was attending. To top it all off, I am honestly even considering traveling to Rhode Island to see her because she has provided the best customer service I have ever received. Candice is a professional, creative, and attentive stylist. I have a short pixie cut which needs maintenance every couple of months. I've had cuts from at least three salons in Providence and countless others in New York, and Candice is the one stylist I keep coming back to. I've followed her from her last job at Hairspray to her new salon because nobody gives the same level of attention to my hair. She gives really detailed cuts that are practical for my day-to-day and that grow in nicely. I always leave feeling confident about my hair. Candice is a fantastic stylist. I have thick, wavy to curly hair which presents a lot of challenges. Candice is the first stylist I have gone to consistently because she always does an amazing job! She takes time to shape the cut so that it grows out well too. There was 3 things that I really liked, no LOVE about Vanessa's hair salon. 1. They are VERY CLEAR about wearing a mask which is such a big thing to me bc I have close family members I live with that have compromised immune systems so it was really nice to know that vanessa and jake made sure to take their customers safety into consideration. Everything was clean and spacious. 2. Jake knew how to take my dark hair (which was a mix of dark brown, black, reddish-orange hair that i attempted to bleach and dye myself) and lighten it using bleach without destroying my hair. My hair feels soft, strong, and healthy!! Plus it looks absolutely fabulous!!! I spent almost an entire day getting my hair done. Throughout the whole process, Jake and Vanessa made sure to check in with how I was doing. I had to bleach my whole head in order for the purple color to show up and Jake was able to lift and lighten my hair as much as possible without damaging my hair. This means so much to me bc a year and a half ago I let a different hair salon bleach my hair and it all fell out because it was bleached improperly. Jake knows the CORRECT way to bleach and dye someone's hair!!! 3. The third thing I really liked was that I immediately felt at ease and comfortable from the minute I walked in. I felt like I was hanging out with my best friends the entire time I was there. I dont plan on going to any other salon again. In fact, I cant wait to bring my mom and sister in so they can experience the amazing magical work of these hair magicians!! Plus they even do waxing. I got my eyebrows done and they look amazing!!!
