I was surprised to find mostly authentic Mexican food in Andrian. Spicy salsa was delicious. Food was fresh. My food came out piping hot. The display of Mexican candy gave me a hint that this would be closer to Southwest Detroit style than most places scattered throughout Michigan. Portions were generous and the prices IMO could have been a few dollars higher. I am sure the college students appreciate the fair pricing. Servers were friendly and helped each other. Which was necessary as a table of 9 walked in with 30 minutes to close. read more

We are from California so finding an authentic Mexican food on the East Coast was a challenge. Cancun is the real deal!! Great Tacos, Fajitas Rice and Beans! We came back 2 nights in a row. Great Chips and Salsa, friendly people and the Music was not loud so we could sit and visit without having to yell. read more

Festive Mexican restaurant in Adrian. Atmosphere is fun and the wait staff is very helpful and friendly. I had the Molcajete which had a very tasty sauce along with the beef, shrimp and chicken. Went very well with the corn tortillas I got with it. My gf had the El Tapatio which had chicken and chorizo sausage along with rice, beans and the corn tortillas she got as well. She like the taste a lot and had to take some home as the portions are very generous. The sals that comes with the chips is very good and has nice heat. Check out this gem in Adrian! read more

I have been here two times. Hoping that the second time would be better, but was not. A little overpriced you do get a lot for your value. Waiting staff can barely speak English. Quality of food was very good atmosphere extremely boring. read more

Stopped here for a late lunch. Chips are served hot. For lunch I had a chicken fajita quesadilla, served with rice and lettuce and tomato. My companion had chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. Food was served hot. Only drawback was Sprite didn't have any flavor. Price was right for lunch! read more

Wow. First timer here. I was just coming in to have a casual lunch not expecting much more than the usual but this place hit all the flavors for me. Best mexican food in Adrian!! I had the molcajete and my cousin had the beef enchiladas. She really enjoyed the enchiladas and i was closing my eyes and singing with every bite of the molcajete. Service was phenomenal and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed or wanted. Thank you Albina. I know i will be back!!! I did order the churros to go but broke off a piece before i left just to see if they were fresh. I would have liked them a little softer and warmed up. But still a good flavor. Yummmm. read more

They have some of the best food in town. Everyone working are so very nice, so friendly all the time. I like it in the restaurant, just wish they had more room, they could easily fill it all the time. Authentic Spanish feel!! read more

Standout Mexican restaurant in a sea of Mexican restaurants. This is a can't miss place when visiting Adrian. Portions are so large you'll wish you split the meal with your guest. Lunch specials ring up around $10. Beer and limited mixed drinks available. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. Typical Mexican American decor. This would be 5 stars if they had more desserts. read more

After a very long day of travel and solar eclipse viewing, we stopped in to grab some dinner before finishing the last 30 mins of our drive to our destination. We were seated right away and immediately met with chips and salsa. Our server came by immediately after and took our drink order while we browsed the menu. We started with some queso which was really good. Some of the best we have had. Just the right thickness to coat the chip with cheesy goodness. I ordered the enchiladas suiza which I swear I took a picture but obviously I didn't. It was so good. The chicken was very moist and very flavorful. While the rice and beans were pretty standard, they weren't dry and bland like you tend to get at most restaurants. The hubs got 3 tacos (al pastor and carnitas). He got a 3rd one but he couldn't remember what it was. lol He said that the tacos were some of the best he has had and they were full of flavor, the meat was very moist and had the right amount of cilantro and onions to balance out the meat. This is a busy little restaurant and the perfect little "hole in the wall" type of establishment we love. It feels like walking into someone's kitchen and sitting down to have a meal with them. This will definitely be on our list of must eat places when we are here visiting family. read more

Not much has changed since the last time I reviewed this restaurant. But I want to keep my review current with the various visits that I have made. UPDATE 07/22/2024 Pros: * Phillippe remains my favorite server. This guy is always in a good mood and welcoming as you enter the restaurant. He is efficient, accurate, and very conversational with recommendations, etc. If possible, try to have him wait at your table. * In the smaller city of Adrian, this remains the most authentic Mexican restaurant in town. There are others, but they lean towards "Tex-Mex." Which is ok - I like that too. But this restaurant is the place that the Hispanic residents gravitate to on the weekends. That should speak volumes. Cons: * Tonight's visit was really no different than my other visits, with two exceptions. I ordered a Tamale, and unfortunately, the masa was very dry. Was it made fresh today? In like manner, the Chili Relleno was ok, but the tomato-based sauce was very runny and, unfortunately, had a bit of a metallic taste. This is not an every-visit experience, so I do not know what it is about today. * The table turn-around was very quick. Perhaps a bit "rushed." And given that the restaurant was only 1/3 full, it didn't need to feel that way. Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant, and I will continue to go back. I am sure that you will enjoy it too. read more

Best, most authentic Mexican food in the region. Order their birria tacos, you wont find these anywhere else in a 50 mile radius.

I'll just say I'm not impressed. Not good, not bad...just not impressed. This was our first time ordering here. I'm a travel nurse and it's always hard to find the "best" spots in new areas. We ordered the "Cancun fajitas" to share. There was plenty chicken and steak but maybe 4-5 baby shrimp (1st disappointment). My husband say the flavor was ok and I have to trust him at this point since I've been sick the past 3 days. Lol. It came with beans rice and a bed of lettuce with sc, pico and guac on top. I ordered extra pico bcuz I knew the tablespoon that they normally serve wouldn't be enough. Well that wasn't in the bag when we got home (2nd). I also ordered a side of cheese for 2.25 that is maybe 1/4 c and sliced avocado. 1/2 avo at 2.99. Also asked for extra corn tortillas we did 3 for 1.99...meh. I told him to ask for salsa which should be complimentary...it was but maybe that's why I only got 2 small containers with about 1 tbsp each for an entire dinner of fajitas??!? So there is dissapointment 3-7 lol. read more

Went there on Saturday after a trip to Maggards. Great food, clean, good service. I had the birria tacos with rice and beans. 3 tacos for something like $7.50 or so. The rice and beans were a couple dollars extra, but to me, a Mexican meal has to have rice and beans. I think that brings the meal in under $10 bucks, so not a bad deal. The birria was well made, the tacos were finished on the griddle, and they were great! Nice lacy edge of cheese and the tortillas had just the right amount of "crisp" to them. The beans were not runny and the rice was perfect too. Really nice. My dining companions had enchiladas with Mole and his wife had what I think were cheese enchiladas topped with carnitas and lots of cheese and more enchilada sauce or gravy. Really looked great. They both raved about their choices. All in all, a great little place. My only issue is I believe the chips are from a bag??? They weren't stale and were nicely warmed up, but I wish they were more "homemade..." Their salsa was GREAT!!! Great flavor. Not too much garlic or cilantro. Perfect balance of flavor and heat. Again, the place appeared to be very clean, but pretty plain inside. They do have a full bar and I'm curious to try their margaritas, but it was lunch, so I stuck to iced tea. Next time I'll go for dinner and imbibe. Can't wait to go back! read more

Anyone who rates this under five stars are yelp Karen's we all hate. Yknow, Billy bob and his annoying ankle biting son and their Karen mother who are better fit for Burger King than any other restaurant on the planet. This place is consistently a 5 star experience. I got a cottage in Adrian and me and my pals ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS stop here to end the trip on a GREAT note. The workers are the same ones I see every time. Hard workers. My only complaint is that every other Mexican that I have had since going to Cancun has been inferior. I cannot wait to spend another summer with them soon. read more

We were visiting out of town and found this place on Yelp. First impression was it is a quant Mexican restaurant. You sit where ever you like. So don't stand around like an idiot waiting to be seated like we did. The hot and cold salsa was "interesting." But my wife and I agreed the cold was far better. The hot just made the flavors mix together too much and created a less "fresh" taste. Ordered the Cancun Fajitas for Two. Portion size was very good. Temp was just right. The only thing I could say negative is the meat was a little over cooked (aka dry). My wife would add the Mexican rice was bland. She is a huge Mexican rice fan and knows her stuff. But overall the food was very good. If the temp is cold outside, bring a coat. A bit cold for us. Others didn't seem to mind. The servers were attentive, although I think she saw me on Yelp so that might have "motivated" her. She didn't let our drinks run out and even had a short conversation with my wife. You can't really ask for more out of a restaurant of this type at this price point. I would recommend and visit again. read more

ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES IN ADRIAN. This is a go-to restaurant for my friends and I! We love the quaint, friendly atmosphere of Cancun and the HUGE variety of quality Mexican food that we can devour. The staff is always very welcoming, accommodating to groups (5-11 people) even with complicated orders, and fast delivering the hot plate right from the kitchen to your table. Prices are cheap, food quality is exceptional. Cancun never fails to leave us stuffed and satisfied, but also makes perfect leftovers.
