Some of the worst food I've ever had. The food was very bland, the meat was dry, the beans were gray mush. Very small portions. The rice was dry. Notice a pattern? I got this weird impression that the food wasn't fresh and maybe microwaved. Ha. They need a visit with Gordon Ramsey :D Won't be returning. read more

I love the taco dinner! I order it every time. Delicious, double layered tortillas with cheese between them. So good! The beans and rice taste like I remember as a kid (been eating here since the 90s!), just comfort food!! My favorite Mexican food in Adrian! read more

Starting with the food, nothing about it is "authentic." The beans and rice were somehow dry, and the beef was exceptionally bland; the salt did not help. They were served in paper boats with plastic ware. My "crunchy" tacos came wrapped in a bean-coated soft shell tortilla, which is not precisely what "crunchy" implies. We were treated to hearing the owners argue on the floor in front of patrons. The food was gross; I ate almost one of my two tacos, and my husband ate one of his three, leaving the beans and rice boats behind. We left sick to our stomachs and still hungry. I go out of my way to write favorable reviews, but this time I'm just can not. It didn't help that the owner snipped at me and asked if we were taking any of the leftover food; I respectfully declined, to which I received a nasty look and an eye roll. It was one of the worst restaurant experiences in my nine years here. read more

We came in on a Tuesday and parked in the parking lot which smelled of dirty trash and dog shit. As we were walking in a huge party had left. When we walked in I saw only two tables taken. Anyways we walk over to a big table since it was 6 of us. I hear the waitress says "oh well they are just going to have to wait as she's rolling her eyes." Had someone been at the door to tell us if we could sit or not we would t have. No sign not a thing. So the. The owner says "my team is backed up it's going to be a long time." See I would ha e understand if they would ha e started out that not rolled their eyes. No one was even in the restaurant except4 people. Never again ! read more

I ordered a taco salad minus tomato they put tomato on it so I returned it and they scraped off the tomatoes and added cheese to it needless to say I had an allergic reaction to it and was in the hospital for 5 hours I will never go back there again read more

We have been going here for a few years and my husband since he was little. I am aware there is a new ownership but the salsa taste different now and the tacos we got today weren't like they used to be. The meat on them was so little, we had to combine 2-3 tacos to get what is normally on a taco. Disappointed. read more

Terrible food charged $6 for gravy for 2 small bean and cheese burritos. Total bill $14 extra for small amount gravy. Owner was rude when I asked about the extra charge. Don't waste time going there. Nasty place Used to good before these people took it over. read more

After living in California for years we're very critical about food back here in Adrian. I won a WLEN coupon book with specials for Mario's & had never been there so gave it a try. I was impressed for a small little place their food is really good & have good portions. The waitstaff was friendly & efficient. Their prices are reasonable which is more than I can say for so many of the newer places coming into the area. They are definitely on our list for being return customers with or without the coupons! They may be small but the food is really good for this areas type of Mexican food. Ethnic foods vary in different areas of the country & for here we really enjoy it!! The following statement always sparks a debate in this town but Mario's is The best Mexican resturant in town. They have the best salsa and prices in Adrian. While the building may look a little bleak from the outside I promise you there is a treasure inside. The chorizo burrito is my personal favorite. read more

Whenever I'm in town to visit family, I have to eat at mario's at least twice. Everyone is friendly, the food is served quickly and the Tex Mex food is the best. I keep thinking that I'll like the grasshopper better, but never do. The enchiladas are supurb with the nice sauce that is served up nice and gooey on a hot plate. Love it. And at the end of your meal, you can pickup a desert to go, in the form of M&M's - you can't get better than that for economy. read more

Good Mexican food. I enjoyed some very tasty chicken fajitas (the meat was very nicely marinated with just the right level of spice), and it was a big plate - far more than one person needed for lunch. We go here every time we visit Adrian! Great enchiladas! Taste great, prices are good, food is hot and served quickly. Staff work hard. Too hard. They need to hire more waitresses and not stretch their staff so far. Our poor waitress was amazing, practically running to deliver food, get orders and run the cash register. This is not fair for her or the customers. It was a hot day in MI and the AC could not keep up, so the warmth did not help anyone. The chips they serve at first are terrible - thick and flavorless. Oh and the guacamole is terrible too - store-bought goop, not the real stuff. I will go back though! read more

Mario's is a prime candidate for Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. A little tacky, a little grimy, but nice people, good service (when it's not too busy), and good enough (by Mid-West standards) Mexican food. A couple of major short-falls on the menu are no tamales and the utter lack of desserts. My sense is that the owners are rarely in the place, and were it not for some very reliable employees the place would be a disaster. It really could use a top-to-bottom steam cleaning and new furnishings. Suspect that the owners may have other interests or obligations and are just using the place as a cash cow. read more

My husband and I were visiting from Maryland and decided to try Mario's because of the great reviews. Let me start by saying the when we pulled in, we almost left because of how grimy the outside of the building looks. However, some of the best food comes from unassuming restaurants. We decided to give it a try. We had chips and hot salsa, which was fine. My husband had cheese enchiladas, and I had bean tostadas. Both dishes were extremely bland and flavorless. The guacamole - terrible. It was the consistency of mayonnaise and didn't have any avocado flavor at all. The service was fine, but not great. The waitress asked if we were ready for our bill, yet it never came. We waited 15 minutes then went up to the counter. Apparently they don't bring you the bill. They just assume that you know to come up to the counter to pay when you are finished. I would NEVER eat here again. read more

Ok so here we go...I drive an hour and a half to downtown Detroit for my Mexican food, one way. Mexican Village is the king of Mexican food that sets all standards for my palate. If you been there you know! Using my template Mario's is very good, but not great. I definitely would go back again. The food, cleanliness, and staff made for an enjoyable visit. The salsa and guacamole might be some of the best I ever had!!! Give this south of the border gem in Adrian a try and you too will be pleasantly suprised as well. read more

Based on several Yelp good reviews, my husband and I drove to Adrian from Ann Arbor for some good Mexican food. We usually go to "The Grasshopper" or El Chaps as it is locally known, but felt adventurous and thought we would try a new place. The food was good, I had a combination dinner and he had beef fajitas. The portions were small due to the small tortillas they use, but I was full after my dinner and lots of chips. My husbands fajitas were not grilled, but in a little sauce. They were tender and tasty. We had guacamole (made there), but it was too thin and tasteless. While we mostly liked the food, it had an overwhelming taste of cumin-much more than any restaurant we have ever been in! They are very under staffed and we had to keep our coats on all thru dinner...it was cold in there! The prices were very reasonable. I must say, I like El Chaps better, but they are pretty expensive comparatively. read more

awful. My first visit and last. I ordered the tacos plate, the basic of any Mexican restaurant. Absolutely no flavor in neither beans or rice. As for the tacos, tasted like a tortilla taken out of a package, stuffed with a little flavorless beef, a little lettuce, tomatoes and unmelted cheese. They looked anemic. I've been going to Mario's since 2005. I can see why my older sister liked coming here to eat lunch. First, I love the salsa. I would bathe in it if I could. I'd put it on ice cream, if given the chance. The enchiladas are great! And the chimichangas are ones that Deadpool would gladly pig out on. The service is quite quick. The waitresses are very nice. I don't know where to start. I think about this place almost every single day. We live near Ann Arbor now and have lived in Oakland county before and have found NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING that comes even close to this place. BEST ENCHILADAS (The chicken.... oh....my.....gosh.....) BEST SALSA BEST RICE AND BEANS. BEST PRICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (3 Chicken Enchiladas, Rice and Beans.... 7.75 if my memory serves me correctly) There are other mexican places in town, and they are good....... but this place is THE BEST. Tasty food at a decent price. Their hot salsa that came with the chips is a bit strong with cilantro flavor but not bad. I really like the staff there, we had very friendly service. If you live in town, then it's worth going to more than once. But not sure if it's worth it for visitors from a big city, like it's good, but not "blow you away good" hence the four stars. Absolutely the worst restaurant in customer service in Adrian , the cook came not once not twice but three times to insult and yell at my pregnant wife. Despite having to wait here because of an issue the restaurant had. The cashier was not any better, I was confronted about an item ordered and told "I don't understand how you're able to order an item we don't have " when I told them "I'm not sure the system said it was available" I got scuffed at and clearly heard her say "they never understand" who are "they" I wonder, how can you act like this specially working at a Mexican restaurant , As I'm waiting outside for the food ordered, while the cook continuously cursed at and yelled at my wife would not acknowledge me and would continue to belittle her, I told him not to speak to my wife the way he was and got between him and the car where my wife was inside of, as he's leaving he yells at me and says "fucking Mexicans " when I asked for their names they wouldn't give them to me however a lady working there who was also Spanish told me his name was JOE or josh. read more

A friend requested to be taken here for dinner, I was treating for her Birthday. It is one of her favorite places to get Mexican food in the area! At a glance, the establishment could use some cleaning and renovating, I am not sure if looks dirty because it is old and poorly lit, or if it is actually dirty, but it could use a face-lift! However, the food was alright (its Adrian, they aren't known for having awesome ethnic food!) and the staff was really friendly! read more

Authentic, Cheap, a little gritty...a gem in the small town of Adrian. If Mario's was in columbus, it'd be one of those hidden hole in the wall places, but in Adrian it's on a 'main' drag. Went there with locals and was impressed! Of course, chip and homemade salad greated us at our seats, Pretty good stuff! I was recommended the Sombrero Special-two small cheese quesadillas, a beef taco, and beef enchilada. It came with rice and beans. Everything was geat. The refried beans, first off, had great flavor, the rice didn't have any dumb veggies in it. The guacamole creama was perfectly seasoned with lime and salt. The food was plain ole' yum!! The beef was good, the taco was soft corn and great, the enchilada was smothered in a mexican gravy and was different, but in a good way. One of the better echiladas I've had! The staff made a great effort to accomodate vegetarians in my party and made specialized dishes for them. Also, none of the meal prices surpassed $8.25 (fajitas), I think mine was $7.25. What a steal! At my fav Fiesta Jalisco, the same meal proabably would have been $10.95 and well all know fajitas are aorund $15 anywhere. This food joint really hit the spot. Maybe they should think about another location, say in Columbus, but for now, I'll just have to return next time I'm in Adian. read more

My family is in Adrian so Mario's is always where we meet for dinner when I come in from Atlanta. The place is small and parking is tight but the food is outstanding. Enchiladas are off the chart. Chicken wrapped in authentic tortillas covered in a spicy sauce and cheese - served with rice and beans. Nothing like it here in Atlanta. Staff is friendly and works hard to make customers happy despite being a small restaurant. Prices are exceptional - last time we went 5 of us ate for under $45 and we were all so stuffed it was ridiculous. Too bad they don't serve beer or margaritas but still always worth the stop. read more

Don't let the place deter you. When I first walked in, I thought about leaving. However, after ordering the chimichanga combo and bringing it home, I knew this was a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Real authentic Mexican food at great prices. Super fast service. This place is usually pretty busy. Closed on Sundays. The Chimichangas are excellent. Best beans I've ever had and I don't really like beans but these are flavorful and just divine. I've been to other local Mexican places and always come back to Marios.
