But they do their best to seat as many people as possible. I got in fairly quickly because i was alone. The food was fantastic. I had the Carbonade a la Biere, and it was so great! Like a beef stew and very tasty. Also had some good Belgian beer. Service was attentive and very fast. The restaurant is lively and exciting - not really a quiet romantic dinner. But a lot of fun!

While the register states No Cards one of the servers told the table next to mine not worry when they didn't have enough euros. Only a drink menu was provided and the dishes being served that day were handwritten on moveable boards or posted on the wall. I had on my list a couple to try but finally went with the Belgian carbonades à la biere which was beef stew with mashed potatoes in a dark gravy made with beer. The plate was quite generous and much appreciated since I devoured it. I enjoyed the creaminess of the potatoes swirled with gravy but the meat could've been a tad bit more tender. Service was good. I think everyone on the floor stopped by my table for one reason or the other. Ambiance was casual and looked like many people were taking their time over their meals. When finished you need head to the register to settle the tab. I paid in cash. Worth a return visit.

And vinaigrette was totally not matching with the plate (raspberry vinaigrette? another colleague with funghi salad had the same vinaigrette... also not matching). My colleagues pasta plates were too creamy, to fat. And service was not even sympathetic. I am not used to give bad scores to restaurants, but here I have to say that I cannot find anything that satisfied me.

But after tasting and realizing how good the food was, my only chagrin was that this restaurant is located so close to my work and I haven't been here as yet!!! Found out from the local folks I was at the dinner with that these guys also own another restaurant in Zaventum, but that focuses on pizzas, while this one in Diegem focuses more on pastas. I got seafood option and you can choose from around 5-6 pasta options and I got linguine. Can I just say, it was awesome! So much seafood and all perfectly seasoned, and nothing overcooked. Pasta was perfectly en dente. The other folks on the table scarfed down their food too! For dessert, I got Pannacotta with framboise, which was pretty decent but if I get a chance to go here again, I would either get the Tiramisu or the Zabaglione. I have had Zabaglione some other places and prior to the taste here thought it was an awful dessert and wondered why so many people raved about it. Well let me tell you, this place gets it right. Perfectly frothy and creamy, not too eggy on the taste - the bite I took here was a revelation. It's not a full 5 stars for me as the service we received wasn't as good as the food. Maybe it was because of the two full tables of folks celebrating a birthday party (looked like about 40 folks) that took up the majority of the servers attention but it took a long time to flag a server to order and pay bill. But will totally try and come back - there's other things to try on the menu (but I really do think the seafood linguine was the best choice!)

The rabbit meat was surprisingly tender and the stew/sauce added some nice flavor. For those who haven't had rabbit before, it takes kind of like chicken to be honest, just with smaller bones. I think the price was okay considering the quality and type of dish. The fresh grapefruit juice (€5.80) was very good too. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I was seated right away and the service speed was pretty quick. They have a decently sized indoor space as well as outdoor patio seating. The environment has a traditional Belgian restaurant/pub kind of vibe. Overall, Le Bistro has high quality traditional Belgian food in a pleasant setting and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area near Porte de Hal / Marollen.

I am not a waterzooi expert but I really liked it. I will continue to search for different recipes to compare but this dish was VERY light, full of chicken with veggies and mild flavor. Needed some salt but I loved it was so light yet satisfying. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our server acknowledged us right away and hot us drinks. The food came out quickly- although it was 14:00 in a Monday- so was not very busy. Inside was like a quaint French cafe even tho in Brussels. We also got a small salad and the vinaigrette was light and tasty. They also bring bread to table- good for soaking up delicious broth. Loved it. Would def come back to try other dishes. Another good sign was there were mostly locals there- good sign!!

On first impression, it seemed quite busy. I'm not sure if it's always super busy, but the servers seemed very busy & overwhelmed with amount of tasks that they had to fulfill. It didn't really affect me, but just something I noticed. What disappointed & affected me the most however was the mussels that I was so anticipating. The presentation was nice, but the taste was not... The soup that was on the bottom was coating the mussels and it was way too salty for my taste! It tasted a lot like sea water. There were a decent amount of mussels to eat, but the saltiness really made it hard for me to eat each piece. It didnt have much flavor other than salt. The only saving grace was the fries. Overall, I would not recommend getting an order of mussels here...
