Winners is a weird store. Not weird as in bad, just weird as in I either go to Winners and want to…read morebuy everything or I go in, and want to buy nothing and leave disgusted. My most recent visit to Winners in Leduc was scenario A (want to buy everything). Winners is a discount store (so they say) that has deals on a wide variety of products from clothes to cosmetics to accessories to home decor to candy to toys. I've been to several Winners before and sometimes the deals are really awesome, but other times the Winners price isn't that great of a deal. It kind of depends on what you're looking for, and on the original retail price of the item your looking at. I just say this because it's easy to look and go "omg 50% off" and want to buy everything, but not everything is that great of a deal. That being said I do generally like Winners. I don't usually find much in the clothing department, just because their plus size selection is limited to one rack, but I always like browsing the accessories and the purses and handbags at Winners. The have some random brands I don't recognize, but then ones I do like Guess. On my last visit, I found a nice, basic gray over the shoulder purse that is perfect for traveling, and it was only $25, which seems like a great deal to me. I also really like browsing the home department section at Winners because they have cool home decor stuff, but it isn't just double decker bus figures and Buddha statues, there's more practical home stuff. Case in point the 6 pack fo wooden hangers for pants that I got. Winners can be quite busy, particularly on weekends or after holidays, but Leduc's Winners is nice. It's a decent size (not quite as big as some of the ones in Edmonton) and it's always clean and well organized. The staff are pretty friendly, and even when being the 15th person in line for the checkout counter it doesn't take too long to check out. I don't always shop at Winners, but I generally like it when I do.

It's not messy and full of discard garbage like Nordstroms. My highlights were the Kate Spade and Nike store. It's bright and cheery. The food court is awesome. I was passing through Edmonton and stopped briefly to buy some clothes from the Levi's store. I was…read moretold I could exchange my purchase at any Levi store, so, being in a rush I didn't try on the two pairs of jeans I bought. Now I'm home in Regina where I have discovered there is no Levi store. In fact the closest is in Calgary which is an almost 8 hour drive Each way. To make things worse, I phoned the store and was told that I could not mail them back at my expense for a refund. So now I'm stuck paying for 2 pairs of Levi's that will never fit. It should be noted that this store is located on the airport grounds so I suspect they get lots of customers who are tight for time. Explaining properly about the potential impossibility of returning or exchanging items should be a must. I'll never go back and I'm done with Levi's after 50 plus years.

Two seems pretty reasonable, and if I'm going to a Dollarama in Leduc (there's another Dollar store by the High School) then this is the Dollorama I'm going to gravitate to. The one in Leduc Common can be stupidly busy (and Leduc Common is set up really weird and can be a pain to get out off). This one is on 50th Street, next to the Salvation Army and Snap Fitness. It's a bit quieter, and I find the selection is a bit better. Being a dollar store you can only expect dollar quality for the items you're getting. There are several things however that I love picking up at the dollar store. Like gift bags for birthdays and Christmas. I hate, hate, hate wrapping gifts with wrapping paper. I put every present I give in a gift bag, and the gift bags at the dollar store are reasonably priced. I wouldn't buy dog food or dog treats here, but I got a pack of tennis balls for a dog I'm watching over the holidays for a $1. On my last visit to the Dollarama I also picked up a cool zebra print file folder which I'll use to file my 2015 paperwork like taxes etc. When I was looking for a specific item the staff member I asked knew exactly where it was and was able to point my in the right aisle right away. Sometimes the line at the checkout can be a little slow, but usually it's not too bad. The aisles are wide, and organized, and unlike the other Dollarama in Leduc Common the shelves are stocked well. If you're in Leduc and you need to pick up something from the dollar store, this would be my first pick.
