My mother recently passed and I was looking for a good place to donate her items. I wanted to…read moredonate to a Women's Shelter or to Ukrainian refugees but I didn't have what they wanted/needed. You see, my mother liked to collect pretty things, and my family doesn't have the space for all her salt and pepper shakers, Christmas decorations, eagles, owls, wolves, chefs, dishes, etc., etc. But I didn't want to just shove them off to just anywhere. I wanted it to mean something. Thankfully, I can do that here. I came to the MCC on the recommendation of a friend who volunteers with the Yeg Water Warriors. She told me that MCC helps YWW as many other organizations in the community and beyond. I Googled them and found that it was even better than I'd been told. I can breathe a sigh of relief that the sale of my mother's beautiful things will go to good causes, as she would have wanted. Staff was excellent and helpful. We checked the store out before we left, and found it to be clean and organized. We bought candles and a jacket. I'm going to be back after I declutter my house to bring them more, because I support what they do. I think I'll buy some of that coffee too. Thanks everyone at MCC for making me feel better about giving away my Mom's beautiful, but space consuming things.

Admittedly with my only other Goodwill shopping experience being the huge location on the North…read moreside of Edmonton I did find this one a little underwhelming as I stepped in the door. They don't appear to get much in the way of plus size and maternity here and even the men's section seemed a bit skimpy. Also some of the prices were a bit shocking. I went into the purses and found a drawstring bag from the University of British Columbia for an eyebrow raising $12.99. Also the way pricing works here for clothes is they just have one set price for each type of item regardless of condition or name brand which is fabulous if you luck out and find say a Gap t-shirt but not so fabulous when your expected to pay $5.00 for a Joe t-shirt you could get new for $6.99 Like most places though they do have their good points. I didn't find any worn out looking clothes that looked like they had no business out on the sales floor to begin with which means they take their quality control here very seriously. Also the staff are all very friendly and appear to get along well. They also put their physically and developmentally challenged team members in roles out on the floor which is something I have never seen at any other thrift store ever. It was wonderful and so nice to see as you can tell they really enjoy what they are doing. There are definitely better thrift stores but I wouldn't dismiss this one completely. It has a nice vibe to it and they are kind of off the beaten path in a business complex area so you might find some really interesting things since I think they are a little less well known in the park.

I've been shopping here for a quite a few years now, including at their former downtown location. The owner and her staff have done an amazing job making the space feel like a welcoming treasure hunt. They always happy to offer suggestions if needed or allow you to browse on your own. Since everything here is one of a kind, I have my best luck when I'm not looking for something specific. The price range is extensive - you can find regular priced dresses for $50 but they also sell some luxury designer items for $1000+. Truly something for everyone. If you're looking for a deal, I recommend keeping an eye on their social media and looking out for their blowout sales.

They have a lot of vintage designer shoes and clothing, fur coats, wedding dresses, just so much good stuff. Do yourself a favour and look in the drawers and bowls to find even more stuff. Earrings and lace gloves and mirrors. The hat selection is amazing but it's the shoes that bring me back from manolo blahnik, to Dior. My favourite purchase from there is still 80s cowbow boots that I get compliments on every time I wear them. I love the owner Angela, she is really open about where she does her collecting and is a super interesting lady. A chat with her and a gander in Swish always a treat.
