    The Bay - Can't beat a pair a Levi's on sale :)

So I started at the Levi's section found something in my size off the clearance rack, nice. Then headed to the new Zellers location on the upper floor. Not sure what was Zellers branded, there were many clothing that were already available at the Bay, I mean- you couldn't fool me I was a Zellers customer. I didn't see any Truly brand products, there were cutlery and pots that were clean and pretty looking ikea like. The old image that made the brand pop like the cat was on the wall. The clothing- didn't seem very Zellers. There was no retro diner available but apparently in the morning there were food trucks to imitate the diner like experience. There was no salon within the store, remember in the past there was a tattered salon with ladies who knew what they were doing and had designer hair products- definitely a hidden gem for a salon. On check out, I pulled the Levi's out it pay, pulled up my old bay membership and reminded the til person the friends and family discount. Using the membership gives you longer return exchange periods- thou

I more recently started using The Bay online for clothing for my wife, my watch and so on. Having recently moved, we wre looking for furniture, in particular beds for us and our daughter, a king and a queen. An online sale for Gluckstein had Canadian-made beds on sale half price, from over $3,000 to $1,500. How can you go wrong? HORRIBLY. Delivered to our new house, e could not set up right away. We eventually opened the king size bed boxes - NO instructions! Huge head board had two small metal brackets for the side rails, that was it. The entire foot board was a drawer, and not one that was merely part of the footboard. AND the drawer was all that held the rails in place. It wiggled just looking at it. The worst part? Three plywood pieces were the "base" on which you were supposed to place the mattress. Twelve screws to hold all four in place - TWELVE screws. The boards were bending before we put the box spring on. It nearly. Broke when I sat down, and I had to jump off. We called to return both - sorry, King size mattresses are "custom orders" and cannot be returned FOR ANY REASON! Even "does not function as a bed". We were promised after showing pictures to a store staffer in Waterloo a full refund and return. When no one showed up, we called and we're told "oh, he should not have said that, he is being retrained. You can return the queen size with 20 percent restocking charge. We took a $2,600 bath at The Bay. NEVER buy furniture on line. NEVER buy Gluckstein or shop at the Bay. Thirty plus years of shopping is now over. "Thank you for shopping at The Bay". Fat chance. While in Cambridge, I decided to search for a Giant Tiger close by. I found this one in the heart of downtown Cambridge. I decided to check it out. I did street parking. You can park for free for two hours between 9 am and 6 pm Monday through Saturday. I knew that all I wanted were avocados. I took a risk and parked at a fifteen-minute stand, which was steps away from Giant Tiger. Otherwise, there is a large parking lot across the street. I don't know whether you need to pay for parking over there, though. The downside to being in this area are panhandlers. One asked for spare change. I rarely have change on me these days. I asked him whether he would like an iced pistachio oat latte that I hadn't touched. He passed. Well, I tried. I walked into the store. You need to pull two door handles to get inside. I was immediately greeted with bins of pillows. The satin pillow with a piece of satin fabric sewn onto the pillow intrigued me. So, you don't put a pillow case on it and just throw it in the wash when it gets dirty? It seems weird. There was a female greeter sitting on a chair. We exchanged hellos. I don't normally look at clothing these days, but this store does have some nice, cheerful blouses. They looked nice and stopped me in my tracks. I found my avocados. Giant Tiger sells six of them for well under $3. I use them in my smoothies and mousses, and it's the best bang for your loonie. The grocery section was decent. I saw lots of produce and fruit. The baking items were well-stocked. I tried to tear myself away from the snacks. There are snacks in the grocery area and by the cashout area. Deadly! This store has humungous plushies. The penguin and octopus ones made me think that perhaps I could have them ride in my car and use the HOV lane. I needed AA batteries. My work laptop's trackpad decided to die for a bit on Friday. My authoring application requires a left-click, hold, and drag of a file from one window to another. I know, complicated, right? It wouldn't work! I hauled out my cordless mouse that I haven't used in a year and the AA battery died. My Roku remote also takes AA batteries and that died, too. Just my luck! Anyway, this Giant Tiger had an economy pack of Energizer AA batteries. Without any thought, I picked one up. There were two cashiers staffed. I got a friendly young woman. She asked me if I needed a bag. I declined. I was parked so close and only had two items that I didn't need one. I paid with a debit card. Easy peasy. I thanked her and left with my purchases. It's a decent Giant Tiger store that spruces up the downtown area. If you live downtown, it's great to pick up groceries and get your shopping fix on. I'd come back again. Just beware of panhandlers. When you come in, it does give a slight attic smell, which I don't mind. They told me they usually restock on Thursdays and the other location by Sterling Road usually carries even more inventory. I purchased a shiatsu massager and back up Aukey earphones that were new in package from the Ex. However, the earphones didn't work. The great thing is they are one of the few or probably only liquidators that I know that allows for a 7 day return if there's an issue. Normally most discount liquidators I've been to, it's pretty much the final sale. I wasn't able to visit within 7 days, but did send them an email with the issue with the earphones so they extended the warranty for me to come in within the end of the month to get store credit or exchange, which I'm so grateful for. Apparently they sold hundreds of those earphones and only a few came back with issues. I was able to drop by yesterday after work and decided to exchange for another shiatsu massager for my in-laws. What I appreciate about this spot is that it's relatively organized in shelves with multiple copies of an item. There are bargain bins too for $5 if you really want to search for any deals and treasures. I much prefer than other liquidators where usually things are thrown in bins and you don't know exactly what it is until you open it. The staff there was also super patient and friendly. Definitely if you're in the area peek in and see if you score any deals. They will be moving back inventory from the Ex today and the pricing seems to be the same. Though they might offer tax off discounts with cash at the Ex but not at the store.
