After looking throough Yelp for local lawn maintenance people, I arranged to have Campos Landscaping give me an estimate. Jose came to have a look, quoted me $60.00 for bi-weekly service on a modest front & back yard job. I hadn't had the lawn cut for about 3 weeks...so he said he could knock it out with one of his workers after he gave me the quote. After coming home and inspecting the job they did...it was a disappointment for two reasons. First of all...this was your first time cutting my lawn and cleaning my flower beds, so do the very best job you can do. All the weeds were not handled to my liking, and the clean-up could have been more thorough. Second of all...if you're going to ask $60.00 for bi-weekly service for what I consider a smaller type job, then I expect things spit & polished!!! Bottom line...if you're a stickler like me, then they're not the ones to hire. read more

Campos Landscaping provides excellent Customer Service and there is no language barrier. Campos Landscaping is a family owned establishment; therefore all of the time and effort is put forth on any service that is provided. Dialogue and people skills is not common nowadays, but with Campos Landscaping your voice, opinion, and/or suggestions are important and listened to. Unfortunately, Campos Landscaping no longer counts on Yelp to represent their company. Yelp received a poor review from a non-customer that was dissatisfied; due to the customer being an extreme "stickler" (i.e. read previous review). As a result, Yelp filtered and/or deleted all of the five star reviews that Campos Landscaping had. It's unfortunate that Yelp did not provide Campos Landscaping with the positive commendations that it is entitled to. Campos Landscaping is a member and has a positive reputation with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). I certainly hope my review does not get filtered or deleted. At first, it was only going to be the back yard but quickly changed to everything once I saw the customer service was on point. If you are looking for a landscaper who absolutely loves what he does and takes care of your yard as if it were his own, then look no further! I called several landscapers and Jose was the only one who I got a hold of on the first call. The others did not bother to call back until days later. I knew right away that I Jose was the one because he was more excited about transforming my yard than I was! I can tell this is not just a job to him, it's his life. He absolutely loves what he does and is very knowledgeable about horticulture. I let him have free reign on design because he is the expert, and he did not disappoint me in the least. He actually was able to start the job a few days earlier than he quoted me and was done early in the morning on the third day. I love, love my backyard!!! It was a dismal mess beforehand, and now it's a beautiful oasis! I can't wait until later this summer when the plants begin to fill in and get the "mature" look. The sod grass is wonderful and I always find it amazing to see an "instant" green lawn where a pile of dirt once was. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Simply put, Jose and his team were tremendous from start to finish. From our first conversation I could tell that Jose was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of completing our project. After recently adding a pool to our backyard, we needed a complete landscaping redo of both our front / back yards as well as side walkways...Jose provided us with a beautiful design, educated us as to why he was selecting what he thought would be best, and gave us many choices in how to proceed. I'm a huge believer in finding the right people for the job, getting out of their way and letting them do their thing...Jose proved time and time again that may faith was well placed! Jose Campos and his crew were great! My front lawn project began with a nightmare. Prior to hiring Campos Landscaping, I dealt with a different landscaper named Juvenile Garcia. Juvenile was not a licensed contractor. However, because he and his adult sons did such a beautiful job designing and finishing a neighbor's front lawn, I, along with several of my neighbors wanted to use them for our own landscaping projects. A BIG mistake! Long story short, I hired Juvenile and his sons. Juvenile collected half of the amount for the job up front, did a very small amount of work, and disappeared. Unbeknownst to me, he did the same to several of my neighbors. After being conned, I was out of a substantial amount of money and my front lawn sat in disarray for months. My experience with Campos Landscaping: Prompt, professional, and perfectionist are the words I would use to describe the guys who work for Campos Landscaping. Jose Campos and his crew (2 other guys) came out to work on my project. They were great. Their company is licensed, bonded and they are registered with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). This is important to me because of my last experience with the prior landscapers. I reached out to their company via phone and left a message. Jose returned my call within the hour. I scheduled for him, along with several other landscaping companies for a written estimate on my project. Jose was the only 1 out of 5 companies that was on time, 15 minutes early in fact. Jose matched the price of the lowest written estimate. He made recommendations to my plans and helped me design my flowerbed. Jose drafted a contract and broke down the entire project into different phases. Once hired, Jose would always update me before and after each phase was completed. He and his crew worked tirelessly and were meticulous in their work. This is my 2nd review, I first called Campos to trim my tree's. They did a wonderful job so I decided to have them come weekly for gardening service. I had gardening services previously that just zipped through the lawn and a quick blow. Well, its been three months of weekly service and what service it has been. Jose's team has worked and worked and tamed my front yard to curb appeal perfection. They know their stuff. They are very careful and have made friends with my dog that I really appreciate. It's the extra things they do, like seeding the lawn, fertilizing, fixing sprinklers, extra clipping without my asking that makes them special. Jose is always there working as well and is willing to stop and talk and give advice about what to do for the spring. I'm so sad to write this. Having tried and failed for years to do my own landscape design, I saved up to hire professionals. I wanted to remove what wasn't working and start fresh with low maintenance, attractive, professionally designed gardens. I interviewed many landscapers. I chose Campos. I chose wrong. What they did right: * Jose was great to talk to before I actually hired them-- we even drove around my neighborhood together so I could point out particular plants I liked. * I was excited to see what design Jose would create and he did sketch a lovely design for the front yard. * The crew showed up on time, as promised, and worked diligently throughout the demo of the old stuff and the install of the new garden. They seemed to be a team who worked together on a regular basis. * They did fix the irrigation leaks that were caused during the demo * when she hired them, my neighbor was quite pleased with their work -- so they have done well with other customers. However they did not do a good job at my house. Why I'm so disappointed: * my two fave cactii were destroyed in the process. There is now a tall, dying cactus installed prominently right beside my front door. The other one got thrown in the trash. * the back yard is not significantly different than it was before. They swapped some vines for some trees and added some ground cover and 2 new plants -- but otherwise it's still the same crappy 'design' I've had (and hated) for years. * they didn't place the plants such that the irrigation system would water them correctly -- and/or they didn't adjust the irrigation so the plants were watered correctly. Half of what they installed gets no water unless I hand-water. Required hand-watering is not 'low maintenance'. * they didn't remove the invasive grass and weeds in the gardens. They didn't put down any landscape fabric. My 'low maintenance' garden is anything but. In the three weeks since the new gardens were installed, I've had to spend a half an hour a day handweeding and spraying and otherwise battling the invasive grass in every flower bed. Campos did, at my insistence, spray one particularly bad garden bed (it looked like i was installing a lawn there) -- but there's more grass and weeds emerging there AND there is a ton more grass and weeds in the other six garden beds. And Campos has chosen not to deal with any of it. 'Oh just get some Roundup at Home Depot," said Jose. "Just spray it." Well I have been spraying and handweeding and spraying some more and the situation is getting worse and worse. In summary: my 'low maintenance, drought tolerant' garden requires daily hand weeding, spraying and hand watering. Every day I'm in tears, on my hands and knees, waging a losing battle as rogue grass and weeds obliterate my brand new gardens. It breaks my heart to know that, after saving up for proper, professional landscaping, I picked the wrong landscaping company. Now I'm out a lot of money and left with seven messy, weed-infested, improperly irrigated garden beds. It's going to take a long time to save up to hire someone else to fix Campos' mistakes...and in the meantime, I'm paying a further price in the daily yardwork I have to do to try to salvage the situation. read more

We interviewed several landscaping companies, but we were most impressed with Jose's knowledge of our plants and his recommended approach to return our yard to its former glory. After contacting several services to get work done on our dirt-based backyard we came across Campos Landscaping. It is a family-owned business that is quite popular around our community yet they were still very accommodating to their services and did not hesitate to offer an estimate that was done instantly. The business is bilingual (Spanish & English) however if English is preferred it is usually turned to the son, Jose Campos. In our experience he gave us very accurate pricing and provided suggestions on whether or not our ideas would work. His final design came as close to what we envisioned with the price range that we set and overall we were very satisfied. The community that we live in is under a strict proposal-approval process that really prolonged the work to be completed, however with Campos Landscaping they provided a very detailed and descriptive plot plan that abided with every restrictions that the process required. Campos Landscaping was very professional with their work and in addition Jose Campos does a great job tending to any calls made to his personal number that he provided. I called Jose with Campos Landscaping back on 10/28/2014 to come look at my yard which he did and then . told me he would only cut the yard and leave the grass on the yard for $150 which I agreed .. Today 11/4/2014 he was spouse to come at 1:30 I called to make sure that he was coming to my house to do the work he told me was backed up because of the rain over the weekend and he would come on Saturday I said no I was busy that day and he say he WOULD come today 11/4/2014 around 4 or 5 pm instead of the original time of 1:30 pm. He then calls me and says he cant make it and can make it tomorrow. Do not call this company for any kind of service .. he does not keep his word!!! read more

We have been using Campos Landscaping since 2009. They have always met and exceeded our expectations. Not only have they provided us with inexpensive expert weekly yard maintenance throughout the years, they have transformed our landscape into something personal and beautiful. Living in Long Beach we were informed that the city had a program to reimburse homeowners to change their landscape from lawn to California native, drought tolerant gardens. I called Jose Campos and asked him if he would be interested in creating us this new design. Being on a budget (we have 2 new babies at home sucking up all our extra funds) I didn't give him much $$ to be able to work with, only what Long Beach would pay. After a couple of weeks of planning and obtaining approval from the city, Jose somehow in only 2 days delivered us an incredible work of art that looks as if it would have cost us a fortune. More than what I had hoped for. I was so pleased!! Unfortunately the work was completed the week prior to that major heat wave we had. Some of the plants that were placed didn't make it. What a shame, too bad for us right?........... NO, WRONG! Not only did Campos come to remove the plants that died, they at not cost to me replaced those plants. Does it get any better than that???? Well guess what, it did. After the project in the front was completed they informed me that they were going to discount my weekly service fee, as my front yard does not require as much maintenance (no mowing or hedge trimming) as it did before. I couldn't believe it! These aren't just you average gardeners that mow the grass each week. They mow, weed, rake, seed, fertilize, prune and tend to all your plants, flowers and sprinklers ensuring your yard is the best looking one on the block at no extra cost. We use them annually to trim our large avocado tree that the neighbors swear has more avocados now that Campos has come in contact with it . We also had them recently level and re-sod our entire back yard after having to replace a gas line. They even deal with my annoying German Shepherd who is either barking at them or leaving land mines in the yard after we leave for work right before they come ;) Campos Landscaping does it all! Campos Landscaping did a fantastic job in our backyard, transforming it from essentially a large block of bare dirt to a luxury resort feel with a combined fire table and water fall. Jose Campos designed a backyard scape that was exactly what we wanted, complete with the water and fire feature, a new pave stone patio, palm trees and succulent plants, raised vegetable beds, a full drip irrigation for the plants and separate watering for the beds, and a drain system to drain rain water to the front of the house. He also added lighting that really makes all the work spring to life at night! He also included at no extra charge a redo of my front yard parking strip, taking out the grass and putting in landscape cloth and Decomposed Granite, plus irrigation for a few desert plants. He also installed some horizontal board fencing in an existing patio area to provide texture for the block walls. Jose came promptly to every appointment at the outset, and once the project started he was there every day both doing work and supervising his crew, but always asking us how it was proceeding and did we have any questions or need anything addressed. He took care of everything we asked for. The quality of his plants and trees is at the top of the list. He used 2 1/2 gal size plants for all background shrubs, and the palms ranged from 15 gal to 40 gal plants in size. I was very pleased with his selection of these high-value plants. The bedding plants were in flats, but each plant equated to a six inch pot and we got a ton of them in the yard. The water feature is awesome, and the fire table is just what we envisioned serving both as a focal point in the landscape as well as a place to eat and gather. The table includes a glass surround wind screen, and Jose included high end polished fire glass, both black and red, that really accents the fire. (The black glass actually looks like polished obsidian, and the red glass glows like hot coals!) Jose said at the beginning it would take about 3 1/2 weeks to complete, and it turned out to be 4 weeks, with one holiday in the middle (Memorial Weekend). We are so very pleased with what he accomplished, and already have spent many hours out in the yard both morning and night enjoying the view and the sound of the water fall. Everyone who has come to see it, loves it ! We would highly recommend Campos Landscaping for your project, to get a beautiful yard at a very reasonable price!!!!! read more

I have used their service for the past 12 months. I couldn't be more pleased. They monitor the irrigation, trim dead/yellow leaves, plant annual flowers, fertilize, and leave my home clean of all the week's debris. My previous service was a "mow and blow" operation that could seem to leave my property quickly enough. I find Jose especially competent and reliable. He knows plants and soil conditions. They are very easy to get a hold of and was there for any questions I might have before the project started. I spent over 10K for my backyard beautification and it turn out awesome.
