My wife and I looked long and hard for a designer for the ambitious home addition and remodel we started planning several years ago before we finally found Mark Greenwald and GCC Designs, but we sure are glad we did. Mark was a pleasure to work with at every step along the way. He always brought a great deal of courtesy and professionalism to the process of redesigning our home. He did what he said he would do, had lots of great ideas, and listened carefully to us to make sure he understood our needs. His pricing was always fair, and there were never any nasty surprises. There was a lot of back and forth, which is normal, before we got our new floor plan just right, but we couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Once we locked the plan, Mark sent the drawings to his engineer, and before you knew it we were ready to submit for plan check and permitting. In our case, the plans had to go to the city and then the county. The city permit tech told me he'd never seen better plans for an initial submittal, and he approved them right away. The county asked for some minor tweaks, which Mark took care of quickly, and as soon as we submitted those, they were also approved. Now we're in the middle of the addition/remodel, and it's wonderful to see the plan coming to life. I wanted to thank Mark publicly for helping me confirm that a bedroom on top of a garage had appropriate permits. I entered into escrow and the City wasn't too helpful. I was on a 10 day rush before I was locked into buying the home. After calling several contractors it was hard to get a call back from someone that was serious about the issue . They wanted a guaranteed fee or to draw plans. The company doing the inspections told me that they did not do any code compliance research. All I needed was basic assistance in making sure I did my due diligence before buying this house. I spent days lacking sleep and frustrated with the contractors and the City. Luckily, I found Mark online. I checked the reviews and he seemed like a good fit. I messaged him to explain the situation and he messaged me back right away. He talked to me the next day and offered to meet and do and inspection. I had City records ready for his review. In a matter of an hour he was able to see that it was permitted back in the 80s. He called me after looking into it and said there was no charge, he was happy to help and I could pay it forward. What a nice guy, I cannot thank you enough Mark. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! read more

Bad customer service. Paid upfront for plans and then said he cannot start work for another 3 months. We are ready to proceed, but wasted our money. Taking my business elsewhere, wouldn't recommend dealing with him. Way overpriced. read more

Mark Greenwald did a major remodel on our home. He was the third contractor we spoke with. The first two wanted to tear down walls, eliminate our dining room and create a megakitchen.
