Toro and Tuna Tostada
Prasath S.

Had a nice dinner at Campobaja. The vibe is chill and seafood heavy. The Tuna Tostada was very tasty, the Toro tostada while very generous when it came to the tuna belly just felt like an unbalanced dish with the richness of the toro overtaking the dish. The aguachile was just alright, definitely had better. The dish that was the highlight for me was the calamari and garlic with the bread. It's a dish that I've never had before the play on calamari to make it seem like pasta is brilliant and that whole clove of garlic to ooze into the toast was just delightful.

One of my favorite meals I had during my 8 day trip in CDMX! Came on a Saturday night and waited about 45 minutes (recommend making a reservation during the weekend). The inside was very nice too! The food was delicious! I still can't decide what was my favorite from the night, everything tasted amazing!

I walked in on a Wednesday night for a solo dinner. I was seated immediately. My friend recommended this place and I saw it featured recently. The food came out quickly. Overall the flavors weren't impressive but the portions and seafood quality were good. I got the aguachile de curry verde, tostada de atún, and tostada de pulpo. I didn't really taste the curry in the aguachile, and I prefer the seafood to be firmer after curing. The sourness was also a bit overpowering. The mezcal margarita was smooth. Server spoke English.

Elite grade seafood. I highly recommend the aguachiles and the tostadas. We also tried the fish taco and squid ink risotto but those weren't as good imo.

Amazing seafood at Campobaja - everything was super fresh. Highlight was the whole lobster which they cooked to perfection. Service was great and efficient. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Service and food was excellent! We arrived close to closing time so there was no wait. Plenty of seating. Our waiter helped make drink recommendations and answered any questions we had. I couldn't get over how good the flaquita was! So good we ordered one to go as well. Everything was delicious. The fish was fresh. We stumbled upon the place and I can't wait to come back after reading other reviews!

Extremely terrible experience here. The men waiters were all extremely kind but the one waitress was super rude and ruined our vibes of our entire meal (scoffing, glaring at us, wiping the table while we were there and onto my sunglasses, snapping at us, moving our things). Disclaimer - I feel like we usually don't care about service but I don't think the food outweighed the unpleasant server. Don't think we've ever experienced this level of service -- my family kept trying to smile and be kind to her in case she was having a bad day, but surprising that she works at a Michelin star place? The tostadas were good but the burrito was ass. Not sure if it was worth the experience. The manager was quite kind though when he told us about it but were surprised at her callousness, especially given the Michelin level this establishment should be at? Not worth your money, especially given that all the many other restaurants we went to have great food and kind servers. * Disclaimer that I speak fluent Spanish *

I had the best meal in CDMX at Campobaja. Loved it to much that I went back on the last day of my trip! Arroz negro (6/5) this may be the best risotto type dish that I've ever had. It was sooooo good. It makes me sad that I won't be able to eat it again until I go back to Mexico City, that's how good it is. Tuna Tostada (5/5) a perfect balance of flavors!! Must try! Oysters (4/5) - oyster itself was so fresh and delicious but the sauce was salty. Shrimp (3.5/5) - nothing special, not bad but not as good as other dishes I tried here. Stone claws (2.5/5) - portion was too small considering the price. Meat was a bit dry I'll be recommending this place to anyone I know whos going to Mexico City in the future

Excellent. Sesame so damn good

I ordered the grilled shrimp, red lobster, aqua chiles, abalone tostadas. I highly recommend

Good experience overall, with a few things to note! I ordered the ceviche negro! it had a unique flavor, though personally I found the radish a bit overpowering and felt there could have been more shrimp, as it was mostly vegetables. I'd rate it around a 6/10 based on my personal taste. As for service, while our server was friendly and seemed busy with other tables (which I totally understand), our table didn't receive much attention, no water refills and limited check-ins. What felt a bit uncomfortable was the way the tip was handled, as a specific amount was suggested rather than left open to our discretion. When we left a certain amount that seemed to reflect on the service we received, he demanded more tip. I believe in tipping based on service, and I just wish the experience had matched the expectation. On a brighter note, my friend loved her dish! The fish was imported from Japan and she described it as buttery and flavorful. The shrimp al pastor taco and salsas were also highlights of the meal, really tasty! Overall, I'd give this spot a 7.5/10. I'd definitely consider coming back, and now I have a better idea of what to expect. :)

Such a vibe at this restaurant. Service was attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. My friends and I split everything and each dish only got better. I highly recommend the grilled octopus-- that was probably the best octopus I had in my life. Would definitely come back!!

Absolutely fantastic dinner. The ambiance was a vibe and the service was friendly and attentive. Everything we tried was super fresh and flavorful, enjoyed the tuna and octopus tostadas and aguachile verde. Surprisingly dessert was also a big highlight, we were pleasantly surprised by the cheesecake. Not presented in a typical manner but the best I've ever had, and the lemon and hibiscus reduction they used was fantastic. Highly recommend

Then, allow the friendly staff to bring as many items from the menu as you can handle. Come with a group so you can share. An absolute must is the whole fish done à la Contramar, one side of the split fish coated in a punchy parsley sauce and the other in a red adobo rub. Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from. Definitely a place to visit when in Mexico City. Sorry for the lack of photos-- we forgot because we dove into each dish (we were hungry and they looked so good)! Got one good one though...

It was delish too. The pork dish tasted somewhat like kimchi soup with pork in it. It is nothing fancy but I loved it. If you are adventurous and want to try what locals eat, this is the place.

Being from California, I was surprised to hear that they opened their newest location at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas last month. We ordered the tuna tostada that people rave about. It was ok. We could have used some more assertive flavor from acid or spice. I couldn't eat a whole fish (their signature dish), so we went with shrimp in their adobo rub in a taco and fish al pastor. These were also just ok, but the price tags are high for their entrees. I've seen pictures of others fish al pastor with onions and cilantro and that certainly would have added something I felt was missing. The one thing we ordered and loved was their seasonal mackerel ceviche which was in an apple/citrus/olive oil sauce. It was unique and delicious. I think their ceviche and aguachile are probably their strengths, but the cost is pretty high to leave feeling underwhelmed. Honestly, we will be going back to mi compa chava for better seafood
